I just really hope it turns out to be an Ashes too far for a few of them. If a couple of them have stinkers it really sets us up well. I'm convinced Khawaja is done and if they'd managed to replace Warner he wouldn't be playing. Ideally Lyon and one of the remaining quicks wont have it left in them, the rest below par.1 -

Papers reckon there will be 40,000 travelling. Probably not all for the whole series but still pretty insane numbers!1 -

they are ageing and yes at home but I believe with the correct attitude and belief they are for the taking.

I admire your positivity but I'm not quite sure why you (and so many other people) are jumping on the age factor? Australia haven't been defeated in a Test series for almost three years and haven't lost one at home for five years. Since then they've won 27 and lost 8 Tests home and away and it was only ten months ago that they beat India 3-1. There will come a time when, individually and as a group, age will catch up with them but I'm not sure that they've quite reached that point yet.Uncle-Greenie said:Can’t be dealing with the negative predictions

Much of the criticism of Australia is based on their underperforming batters and a batting order in total disarray, albeit that one or two of their big guns appear to be finding form at the right time and in home conditions too. Ours are at the complete opposite end of the spectrum, so far as experience is concerned, with Duckett, Bethell, Brook and Smith never having played red ball cricket at anything higher than club grade out there. Of the others, only Root (35.68) has an OK average in away Ashes with Crawley (27.66), Pope (11.16) and Stokes (28.61) hardly enjoying the sort of record to frighten the Aussie bowlers on their home turf.
Cummins is a big loss for them but we really can't afford to dismiss Boland's record at home - 49 wickets at 12.31 apiece with 18 of those wickets coming against us over there and another 21 in a series against India at the turn of this year. Equally, Doggett has taken 13 wickets at 14.69 this summer in the Sheffield Shield.
I hope I'm totally wrong and we thrash them but I do think that 3-1 to the Aussies is about right. That First Test will set the tone for the series and for that reason it is vital that we get out of the blocks running. At least we are blessed with not having Steve Harmison bowling the very first ball of the series.
Aside from Ashes predictions, it is great to hear that Ollie Robinson hasn't reacted like a scorned lover in not being in the England set up in taking time off from playing club cricket to bowl in the nets at Steve Smith. That's sure to mend broken bridges. With the Aussies anyway.
