My view of the game was, Wrexhams spending prowess showed. They had Windass, Hardie and Smith as options to come on up top (all 3 would start for us) we had no one.

Dobbo looked class, he's improved since leaving us.

Felt first half we could have gone 1 or 2 up, second half, we just wasn't there, at all. Parkinson got it all right second half, and we looked a bit lost.

Not the end of the world, a tough game up against Southampton next. Well needed international break.
Minor correction: They had Windass, Hardie, Smith and Onel as options to come on up top

If Nathan Jones is not over stating are injury and illness problems with the squad
Why did we not ask to have the game postponed?  Six players out  sounds enough to ask for a postponement.
Because the League would have laughed in our faces and probably fined us for making a frivolous application.

They are not interested in how many players we have injured, but whether we can field a team of sufficient Football League standard that it is not a walkover. With experienced players like Anderson, Apter, and Rankin-Costello sitting unused on our bench, it is obvious we could do that, and by a comfortable margin. The narrowness of our defeat would support that view.

I'm not saying that he didn't handle it, but I've watched these clips at least a dozen times and I honestly can't say that I can see him handle it or not. Neither the ref nor the lino react in anyway, so why on earth did the ref change his mind, and who would have had a better view?

It's moments like this that refs should explain their decisions for clarity, or their combined reputation will only suffer.

The ref nor linesman spotted that though as the ref played on and the linesman never flagged even after the ball sailed over the bar. Can only assume the 4th official intervened.
Which he can’t ….. the whole incident was guess work no one could be 100% certain , the ball does not change direction should not have been given by the letter of the law .. you can’t guess
Just like no one intervened a couple of weeks ago when the Wednesday keeper was sent off at The Valley? Both the ref and Lino missed that too.

Seriously though, I never understand why people can never just accept it when we lose a game of football.

That said, match fixing theories is a new one so well done to whoever dreamt that up. Usually it's just the ref/lino were shite, which have clearly also had an outing, but this new theory is a corker.

And despite clear photographic and video evidence to the contrary some people are still claiming the ball never hit his hand. I mean, seriously?!

Just enjoy your Sunday. We lost a tightly fought match with a depleted team who gave it their all but are clearly running on empty. And don't forget that same team snatched 3 points from the jaws of a draw on Tuesday. So football has a way of evening itself up, as the old cliche goes.

We've got 2 weeks off now to recharge the batteries and get some of the walking wounded back. I think some people need to use that time to give their brains a good rest and a recharge too!
I have to put my hand up (see what i did there?). Although to be fair i didn't say that it was, it was just a throw away comment. But go and check out the footage of the A-League match fixing moments and you will see that the moments involved were also farcical and non sensical moments of madness which unfortunately were anything but. It can't be dismissed with scorn but it can hopefully be packed into a box under some old Readers Digests and stuck out in the garden shed.

Watching the replay of the handball it's just so incredibly daft - almost a Sodje moment....
Pretty sure it is a Rufus moment, from way back.

It's so obvious on the replay that it hits his hand. Are you genuinely saying you can't see it?

Despise Wrexham, absolute shit hole full of Welsh mugs.

Hernandez is a bell end for that, thick as shit.

We need to try get 4 points from the next three otherwise I can see a slide coming on.
4 points from the next 3, bearing in mind who we're playing, would be a great return.

4? We’re playing the best 2 sides in the league (now Carrick has gone) away from home and on paper the 2nd best squad in the division with a new manager. I’ll be happy if we can get 1-2 points from the next 3, I’m all for being optimistic but it’s not like we’re fighting for top 2

Maybe we should be...we may not get there, but at least aim for the stars.

  • Don't know if it's been mentioned already, at one point in the coverage yesterday, it flipped to the dug out for a couple of seconds where it looked like the 4th official had come between Jones and what looked like one of the Wrexham staff who was having a right go at, and possibly squaring up to, Jones.  Anyone know what all that was about?

The first half we were equal if not the better team, the second half we were woeful and deserved to lose so the result was probably fair on the balance of it, not sure how it benefitted us to not sub Apter on when we were chasing the game & Bree was on a yellow and now we know playing with an injury & thought Olaofe’s race was clearly run after 70’ and we could have done with Leaburn or literally any striker coming on, surely with all the injury problems we should be thinking about recalling a loanee or two, but 13 points clear of relegation nearly a third of the way through the season is all that matters at this point

Retrospectively, fair play to Wrexham. They ‘upped it’ as a team and fans second half and we just didn’t have enough in an offensive sense to trouble them.

The real frustrating thing was I thought we had just about weathered their storm when we gave away the stupid penalty. Utterly bizarre it was in front of the home end and not a single fan of theirs claimed for it. Just Wrexham’s luck they once again had the most eagle eyed of officials there.

Lot of frustration Leaburn wasn’t brought on to give us some form of out ball 2nd half, but I don’t think many in ground knew of the injury. Was clear mid second half a few players are not 100%. Lloyd Jones looked like he was really struggling, but the level of commitment this group show is extraordinary.

It’s a really tough league, I’ve tried being cautious when others are saying we should look be looking forwards, but it’s very easy to go a month without a win here and pressure then mounts. The international break has been good timed.

Stayed the weekend in Wrexham. Pretty amazing they have taken a relatively small town the size of Tonbridge to the fringes of the Premier League. Feel they may have hit their ceiling now.

At the end of the day, we had chances to score and didn’t. Which leaves things open to something like the handball or an iffy refs decision, it’s easy to have a go at Hernandez and it was an odd thing to do but ultimately we didn’t take the chances as a team and we got punished.

There may need to be some squad changes at Xmas. We are very light  in defence, even without Bree's loan ending. We had two completely untried youth defenders as back up on Sat. Neither of the Mitchell brothers look good enough for the Champ.  TC, Hernandez and Apter are not wingbacks. So I think we need another CB and another wingback, especially if Bree goes.
There are a number of others who have not convinced and may need to be shipped out/ replaced. Knibbs, Apter and Leaburn do not seem to fit our system or are not sharp enough. So maybe loans to create some spaces. It's tough I know, but survival is the absolute priority and we cannot carry underperformers.

  • We probably deserved a point, we probably only deserved a point against WBA too so I have us a point up against where we should be after this week.

Pen felt harsh but silly from Hernandez. We go again after the break.

I don’t think we’re going to be in a position come Christmas where relegation is a real threat and then need to spend stupid amounts in a window where every player is overpriced.

We need another Proper LWB, RWB (if Bree goes) but we aren’t going to throw in the towel with players like Apter Knibbs who have only just signed 6 months ago and cost us 4.3M, nor players like Leaburn who’s still only what 21 and will need time to develop. If players are still struggling end of the season then we re-evaluate but we don’t need to change half our squad in a very tricky window

I'd say theres zero chance we're loaning out Leaburn, Knibbs, and Apter in January. Then what happens in February if we have forward players injured like the current defence.

They've all put things in to this season so far, Knibbs with a winner, Apter player of the month, Leaburn (one goal?) with a few headers where we scored immediately afterwards.

At the end of the day, we are currently 9th, which imagine is decent even for those who are very optimistic in nature. That current spot is down to the entire squad, including those being suggested for a loan spell.

In the past the size of the catchment area mattered , now you only need 1 fan  with very deep pockets

We do need to fill some gaps but I think it’s a bit of a knee jerk reaction with the three mentioned, especially when two of them we haven’t seen enough of.

Just seen Wrexham fans are saying Dobbo is their player of the season so far. Looks like he has made the step up comfortably. Always strange how there are players who shine consistently in L1, yet Champ clubs don't come in for them. It's taken a promotion for him to show what he can do at this level.

Fair play to him for raising his game too, he looked a much better player at the weekend than he did here and he was pretty good for us!

Indeed I am. I just don't see that it's obvious.

I don't believe that anybody else in ground thought it was obvious either.
