PWR. Having read NJ’s quotes after the game it sounds like we done as well as we could. Lloydy and Ramsay ill for days, Bree carrying an injury, Miles injured too. His explanation of not playing Apter makes perfect sense too. Add in Burke and Bell out too and defensively we are depleted. Up front the on,y fit player was Tanto. Nice to hear NJ thinking along the same lines as me regarding Hernandez, he’s not a full back, not a defender, he finds himself in an unnatural position on the pitch out of necessity.

This two week break has come at the right time. Close the training ground for a few days so the sickness bug doesn’t spread, give the players a break and hopefully they can return in five days or so refreshed and raring to go again. If we can get a few of the walking wounded fit too, great.

We are in a good place, better than where most expected, but we have a tricky set of fixtures between now and Xmas. We need a fit squad and everyone to be at it.
Spot on, don't normally like the international break and it does force three games in seven days on teams, but this break has probably come at the right time for us. We would still be struggling with injuries if we played next week and illness tends to spread throughout the squad. As for today, I certainly don't think we were beaten by a better side and if Keifer Moore goes lame at any point, Parkies game plan of 'get it wide and cross to Keifer' is shot to peices.

Any strange bets being made out of Cuba? His booking kind of smelled as well.

Here’s a clip of the pen, it 100% hits his fist. Absolutely no need for his hand to be there

I don't understand how a professional footballer under no pressure decides to jump like that to head a ball. Such a stupid way to give away a goal.

TK was quite unlucky not to save the pen too which makes it worse again

I hate conspiracy theories and those who push them, but I have to admit, this crossed my mind once i saw the replays. When he got booked I thought, well he’s right to feel aggrieved with the lino, but he‘s 32, he has to know better by now. On their pod, Louis is wondering if he got a shout. Otherwise it’s hard to find a good explanation for what he does there.

But then again, I’m just pissed off. I thought he looked good as a sub in a more forward role.

The ref nor linesman spotted that though as the ref played on and the linesman never flagged even after the ball sailed over the bar. Can only assume the 4th official intervened.

Whoever spotted that has great eyes, didn't even see it on the replays earlier, but clear handball from the ITV footage, what an idiot

The worst stewarding I have ever seen tonight.

A beer was thrown into the away end and things kicked off. The stewards were only interested in speaking to the Charlton fans and did absolutely nothing to the Wrexham fans. They even asked a Charlton fan, who was completely uninvolved (other than getting covered in beer) to leave the ground. He refused and, after protests from Charlton fans around him, they dropped it.

A Wrexham fan then began throwing hard projectiles into the away end, one of which hit me in the head. This was reported to the stewards, who decided that doing absolutely nothing and allowing the guy to continue was the correct course of action.

Post-match, I asked another steward if I could speak to the Stadium Safety Officer and was given a load of abuse. It's up to the police to deal with now.
That’s awful. How is your head? Worth contacting Charlton too (as well as the police). Modern football grounds have CCTV everywhere so hopefully the culprit can be identified, utterly ridiculous behaviour.
    My head is fine, thanks.

I am not sure what Charlton could do, but I also plan on contacting Wrexham to see how they will handle both it and the awful response from the stewards.

However, I won't hold my breath as complaints about stewards tend not to go anywhere with clubs. I am aware of several complaints being made against Stockport County's stewards last season for assaulting both Barnsley and Birmingham fans, almost causing a crush at Blackpool and harassing and threatening several Charlton fans. Stockport denied all incidents took place, despite video evidence, and that was that.

Is there any video footage of the build-up to the handball as it looked offside to me and several others inside the ground.
I was right by this when it happened. I think a drink was lobbed  from the Charlton end  first but this was behind me and only seen peripherally. However, a Wrexham fan threw a drink right to my side into our crowd and was observed by all their stewards. He was wearing a black cap and t shirt and one of our fans asked why he wasn't chucked out. Their head steward came and tried to start talking about how they would check it on cctv which was obviously a cop out as all their stewards were facing the guy when he threw it. I think a young girl in our end was upset by it ,as I heard the man saying to the steward it was her first away game and she was 17.
The incident I was referring to came after the drinks, with somebody throwing smaller hard projectiles at our fans, one of which hit me on the head. The stewards did not care about this at all.

I was aware of two drinks being thrown, but the first splashed me from my left, which would have meant that it came from the Wrexham fans as well.

Just realised... @fenaddick... I'm going to let you off for a warning, but see what happens when you dont post the teamsheets? - Told you I was going to make you the scapegoat if we lost!! - @Briston_Addick as well, for taking a selfish holiday during the season
    Oi!

What have I been thrown under the bus for?!

Firstly, I wouldn't normally be involved in an away match thread; and secondly I don't go on my holibobs until later this week!

As it happens I just listened to today's game as I was packing my suitcase 😀

I am similarly minded but unfortunately match fixing is more and more of a thing. It's not a totally unreasonable thought to cross one's mind. Perhaps i am too close to this sort of thing. The lad Clayton Lewis who was wrapped up in the A-League match fixing scandal is the son of a fella i have played football with. It's real and happens. Hopefully just a brain fade moment followed by frustration a few minutes later but match fixing can't be dismissed.

With the sick players adding to the injured players, a 1-0 loss away in this league isn't terrible. You only have to look at how many sides in this league are conceding 3+ goals in games to see we still manage to be solid even when up against it.

Obviously a tough run of games after international break but if we can get the majority of players we've had in the team this season back, then I'm confident we will give all three opposition a tough time.

If we are going down a match fixing conspiracy route then you have to ask who made the decision too as that was highly odd / unusual/ suspicious? Wrexham have a history of getting dubious penalties late on though so I’m more in the camp of the officials wanting their Hollywood moment.

Jesus christ everyone, it was simply that a man who has never in his entire lengthy career been required to do a defensive header in his own box completely shat the bed when suddenly required to do so, as there's no footballer Nathan Jones doesn't see a frustrated defender in

F*ck me, we lost a game in the second division, as we will do multiple times this year, and this forum has shit its collective pants and moved on to a match fixing scandal.

Oh for the days of the match finishing, going home, reading the write up in the Mercury, and turning up the following week.

    Damn social media!

You do realise the irony of your post, SA?  :D

Anyhoo, my tuppenceworth: Some you win some you lose. We have had close games go our way and close games not go our way. With a depleted squad and players putting in a shift despite carry knocks or being ill we did okay yesterday. We are 13 points away from the relegation zone, that's Jim Dandy as far as I am concerned at this stage of the season, I would have bitten your hand off for that at the start of August.

So we have Kelman , Edwards, Leaburn, Bell and Burke injured Bree , Jones , Doc and Ramsey all unwell on the morning of the match … think 1-0 defeat to “ guess” by the linesman not a bad result

Which he can’t ….. the whole incident was guess work no one could be 100% certain , the ball does not change direction should not have been given by the letter of the law .. you can’t guess

The Bree and Apter thing is bizarre if Apter is fit. Noticed Apter didn’t clap the fans either when singing his name as he came into the tunnel pre game, probably nothing in it but strange situation.
Yeah I noticed that as well.

Here's Sheffield. As gloomy as it might feel after yesterday's loss, there are plenty of folks across this city feeling that their season's are already done.

What a joy it is to bemoan a narrow defeat, whilst sitting in 9th, whilst the 'other teams' are in the brown stuff!

Well if the CL thread are onto the possibility then you can bet the betting companies will be using their algorithms etc and will pick any odd / unusual bets up?

    Look away now, Mr @SporadicAddick….😉

Swansea, a team picking up a lot of plaudits for their performance against Charlton last Saturday, crashed 4-1 at home to Ipswich yesterday. CB  Cameron Burgess, who  joined Swansea this season after four seasons at Ipswich, scored two own goals “against” his old club.

    Yeah, I know. Sweaty Balmer….

Charlton - Wrexham aren’t the only half’n’half scarves available. This is Malaga - Cordoba before the match last night in Malaga.
