This feels like the team we had under Powell. This club is in a good place and we will fight until the end
  • Can someone explain why bezza was giving it the biggun? Haven’t been able to follow along today due to work. Was he getting pelters?

I thought with the Gillesphey error, the ball to him forced him to try what he did as he couldn't control it because of the pace and trajectory or hoof it out.
  • That late goal was thoroughly deserved. We were definitely worth a point. And an amazing resilience about this team that despite the fact they must have been knackered they kept going to the end.

Bad mistake from Gillesphey to gift them their goal but I'll forgive him after all the good things he has done recently.

Felt sorry for Apter. Finally gets a chance but gets pulled and didn't look happy. Problem is he's a good player without doubt who puts over a wicked cross but wing back he sure isn't. I just can't see where he gets in this team.

And if you want a few chuckles, have a look at pages 18 & 19 of the match thread. One or two people called the final score wrong!

A weary performance, a sloppy mistake and a late equaliser but we (TC) had decent chances to have gone ahead.

Pick up the point, get on the bus, go home, rest up and get ready for two home games on the bounce because we're still 6th and still on better (just) that 1.5 points per game.

I'd rather we lost 2-0 trying to get an equaliser then 1-0 and simply shutting up shop. Jones it seems agreed with me today. He threw on a number of subs with an eye for a goal and we nicked back the point we almost dropped.

    The Nathan Jones masterclass continues.
This is how I always see it. I know others would say what about goal difference and something like that but just like if I was ever on "The Chase" I will always go for the middle or high price never the lower price otherwise what's the point?

Some points feel bigger and better than a point.

🖕 to the EFL for scheduling 2 away games within 4 days. Would have taken a point at 3pm after the 3 points on Tuesday.

Now onto home turf with 2 games home games in a row there. Hopefully at least 4 points from those 2 games & we really will be cooking.

Can only go by the audio (be it silence for a chunk of the first half), but it felt like Hull didn't offer much and a point a piece is thoroughly deserved. As Jones says, there's no such thing as an easy game in the Championship and my gut was telling me we'd lose this 2-0 before kick off, so to come away with a point feels as good as a win to me today.

Many of us were saying they'd be happy with 4 points from 9 over this busy week of football, so to come away with 7 instead is HUGE. I'm ignoring the table or dreaming of what could be right now, but just very content with an excellent start to this season. Better still, I feel like we've still got another gear or two more in us to come so can only see things getting better!

Maybe Sky should stop call us struggling and call us Settled Charlton instead, because we're doing just fine in this league.

Hull were demanding we took risks at the end because of how they were setting up.

Great point for us to take back to Makro car park
  • No battleship.gif today I'm afraid lads... @ForeverAddickted doesnt reward mediocrity.

On a serious note happy with the draw, cant complain about seven points from the last week. Suspect we all would have been happy with a draw, even a narrow defeat at Ipswich, following it up with a win at Hull - Instead these two away trips continue to show the "never say die" attitude that we're getting used to seeing from a Nathan Jones team.

Could have been better had Campbell's early effort gone in, but was well saved... Annoyingly Hull slowly grew into the game, and it became a bit of a scrappy end to end match. Definitely a lack of quality on show this afternoon though, and the lack of finishing from either team meant that the 1-1 score-line was probably a fair result, all things considered.

Said it on the Match Thread, but fair play to Jones for throwing everything at it with the subs, rather than ever accepting a narrow defeat.
I DID advise Nathan to make changes earlier than the 60th minute as we were struggling, running in quicksand IMO.

And a sub sent the great away travellers home relatively happy. SO pleased for Luke.

Mr F said LB's goal was the 1st time today that someone in the team believed....and made it happen.

Feel that's the kind of goal that Godden & Alfie May score. SO hope the former is soon fit enough to make the bench.

But still onwards & upwards !

I thought it was a poor game from both teams. We looked good for the first couple of minutes when TC missed the target from a couple of good chances. After that though, we didn't really do a lot. A draw was a fair result.

I was in an interesting position in the East stand as very few people were in the block closest to the centre circle (we were never actually given the opportunity to buy tickets there).

A Hull fan was singing some odd songs by himself, largely about Sadiq Khan, whom he seemed to think that we all loved just because we're a London club. However, the same guy was chanting 'You unwashed northern bastards!', so he seems to have no idea where London actually is! Another chant of his involved calling the Charlton fans Creme Eggs. I'm not sure what that was supposed to mean.

I was disgraced to see a Charlton fan rush over to the Hull fans just to spit at them once they scored. It took some time, but he was eventually removed from the ground. Hopefully he will be banned for life.

We deserved at least a point there. Masterful subs from Nathan Jones at the end. Coventry made a huge difference, Bree was lively pushing forward and Luke Berry popped up with a typical Berry goal. 7 out of 9 with 2 tough away games in there. Not too shabby!

Chuffed with that considering we looked dead on our feet for most of the game.
TC should have put it to bed but as usual he does everything right except for the final ball or putting it in the back of net . He’s not a striker .

I hope we haven’t come away from this with any injuries because Bell and Jones were both limping near the end .
Starting Knibbs didn’t work but you can’t be too critical because it’s his first start .
I fully expect us to go back to the starting line up next Saturday that we started on Tuesday.
Three home games out of the next four games . About bloody time .

Goes to show that this team doesn't give in and battles to the end a good point at a tough place. Every point in this league is a big one. Well done boys.

Jones felt he should have rested players after Preston. Ipswich would have taken a lot out of them. So that probably dictated who played. A great result really and we have 3 home games in our next 4! This would have been their 4th win on the bounce so it wasn't an easy game.

The cream egg chant would of least made me laugh. Makes no sense but it's somehow funny.
Shame about the spitter. Can't stand that.

Brownie made a good point on the stream about both the physical and mental tiredness that two games on the road in a few days brings. Credit to NJ for the subs and for the whole team to just keep going for 95 minutes. Who’d have thought we’d be 6th after around a quarter of the season?!

Four points now (was 3-pts) above the nearest League One team we were promoted with

A hard earned point in the road, however TC had enough chances to get all three.

Considering how grim that game was, delighted with the point
  • We were just running on fumes most of the match. Despite the possession football we looked knackered. I'll not single anyone out, but those who watched the game will know we deserved a pint for trying, but nothing else. For me, not losing is the key here. Ok, so a clean sheet would have been nice, but for the travelling faithful, and they have bloody travelled this week, to go behind and snatch a late, late, equaliser, it was so sweet. Not much to about about. We had a go, and tried out best. A point against an in form championship team, away, is great. These are results I'd have dreamed of pre-season. Well done lads and Nathan and respect to all that cheered on out battlers.
    Safe journey home guys.
