Fair assessment by ESPN. Way too much time given to the mix tag which reduced the time for the main event.

Not as bad as their début on Channel 4 with Royal Rumble '00. 😃
That’s the one with Mae Young’s reveal wasn’t it…I do remember that absolute banger of a match between Cactus Jack and HHH though, brutal
Don't remember the match but I will always remember the build up and specifically the return of Cactus Jack as one of the most absurd moments in WWE history. HHH in the ring, smirking about always having the upper hand with Mankind only to suddenly become utterly terrified when Mankind, basically, changes his shirt.
It worked though, cause as an 8 year old I genuinely was scared of Cactus Jack, and worried for Triple H.

That's the magic of sports entertainment for young kids.

I was a fair bit older than that when I saw it. Maybe that's why it stuck in my head as being so absurd.

Haven't seen Raw, but to me the aim of the fraction was to get Bron to main event level.

Bronson joining made the pair of them a tag team, which to me is a step down from an unbeatable IC champion. Bronson also seemed to push Bron to third place in the pecking order with his matches and mini feud against Roman. This turn should hopefully elevated him to the top position and feud with Seth for the strap. As impressive as Bronson is, and he should be a main eventer IMO, Bron is their next breakout star.

Leaves them in a tricky spot though, as now Bron and Bron are faces, surely, that means there's even more good guys at the top of the card, and a bunch of guys in the midcard that even if they're meant to be heels, get a lot of love. There's not enough people to legitimately boo right now in WWE
Gunther should be back soon. I do think he will receive quite a big of a positive reaction from the fans due to his talent, but he's the main heel. Solo is also getting decent and Drew should have a run as a heel champion.

That's the problem though IMO, Gunther and Drew are too likeable. At least with Seth you had an annoying heel that even if his henchmen were cool, he'd still draw the boos. Dirty Dom has turned into Eddie where fans want to see him Lie, Cheat and Steal. They're in desperate need of a couple of heels that people love to hate.

Are they face though? It could still be a heel vs heel situation, depending on how they book it.

I do agree there's not really enough really "bad' heels out there though, nor many particularly "good" faces for that matter. It's all a bit grey vs grey.

It all feels very knee-jerk, and without much logic to it. That's not a typical trait of Triple H's booking, which is always trying to build long-term stories over 1-2 years at main event level. Definitely something about this which feels as though the 'business' have just forced something to get a quick win.

Bron holding up the belt, even though CM Punk has just become number 1 contender. Although Seth is injured (but was still able to take a couple of big bumps from Bron & Big Boring Bronson). Its messy.

Even if they act like heels, them turning on a heel Rollins is a face move, and people want to cheer them, the dogs barking with Bron, Bronson hitting the Tsunami always gets a pop, the fans shouting along to Heyman's schtick, the more they try and push them as heels the sillier they'll look.

It's one thing AEW have got right at the moment, The Death Riders are heels that have proper heat on them for the way they act, whereas the Callis Family have too many people that are cool, so Callis himself gets all the heat, but people want to cheer Fletcher, Okada and Takeshita

They need someone to take a proper turn, Jey Uso as a full blown heel, CM Punk, neither excite me. Randy turning on Cody? Will probably be cheered to hell by the smarks. They've really backed themselves into a corner tbh

Jey would make sense, they probably milked him as much as possible and his popularity will probably start to dip to an ideal time. Probably best if he stays away from Solo as he'll over shadow him. An awful kick to Roman starts a feud and turns him.

I think Punk is too popular to turn. Randy is also mmmm... It's happened before and he'll still get cheers.

Death riders have go away heat. 'Go back to Roman'.

Takeshita is the new IWGP champion!

Cena winning the IC title was a cool moment. Didn't need Triple H giving himself some love beforehand though

Disagree. Need someone to book the match and Triple H saying his thank you speech in Boston was better than doing it in Washington.

There’s still an element of ‘what could have been’ around the John Cena retirement run.

The angle they set up with him as a heel world champion claiming to leave the company with the belt, counting down the remaining dates, felt interesting.

Then they turned him back to baby face seemingly as bit of a snap decision and have been winging it ever since.

Of course The Rock’s refusal to stay involved in the storyline didn’t help the heel run, but a one match Intercontinental run to finish the retirement tour seems a bit shoehorned in.

Theres part of me hoping there’s still one major twist involved in all of this. The Rock returns at Saturday Night’s Main Event, lays out Cena, and tells him that he owns his soul and that he only retires when he says so.

And that’s our big Wrestlemania storyline for the true retirement match that someone of John Cena’s level deserves.
  • The Rock coming back like that would reverse the whole retirement criticism.

I hope it's not Gunther that gets the last match and the rub.

Either give it to someone truly next generation, or give it to Sheamus as a moment, him also becoming a Grand Slam champion
