  • I'd take a Tuesday night away point. Anything more is a bonus
  • Context of the season and that we haven't really played any of the top teams in the league yet (bar Leicester) it's probably the sort of game we need to be winning. But in the context of where we are and how we've done over the start of the season a draw would be decent and help us consolidate our position.

I think we will edge it. 1-2. Jones and Leaburn to score.
  • Might be a bit too much for Burke to go again, so I’ll go with

                         Kaminski

             Ramsay Jones Gillesphey

    Bree                                              Bell

              Docherty Coventry Carey

                       Leaburn    TC

i think Bell will have to play LWB given Edwards injury, and NJ will opt for Leaburn to start in this one to give us more hold up play.  I think Kelman despite his efforts in the last 3, has huffed and puffed and might be due a place on the bench over starting.  Depending on the way the game plays out, might see Tanto coming on ahead of him.

Out of the next two, I’d love 3 points, preferably tonight so we don’t go into the Preston game and intl break with potentially 2 defeats in a row.

I think this might be 1-1.  Still a bit nervous about our forward play, despite Saturday’s dominance, so would prefer us to go in front to give us something to defend

I do expect the balance of the team to be off without Edwards, he’s a key player and we don’t have as much cover down the left compared to the right
  • I have confidence in Bell at LWB. Confident enough to get forward and a solid defender.

For my prediction, I am thinking 2-1 Charlton (Tanto, Kelman)
  • If we go in front we win. Unless we get a sending off. Cold hard stats tell us that.
  • Another point to the tally,  1-1.
  • Will take a point away from home in this league.

Sounds like Derby struggle creating chances and controlling games, which will hopefully play into our hands. Keep it tight to 70, then go for a win.
  • The best in the league at winning possession in the final third Vs the worst in the league. Both teams possession shy. Gonna be a classic 0-0.

Any point away from home is a good point, but there is no reason we cant leave pride park tonight with all 3 points. I think we can do it. Similar to Sheff utd away a late 1-0 addicks win is on the cards. Knibbs with the goal.
  • Few thoughts from their forum -

"Think a few of our fans are licking their lips at the prospect of this one.

I don’t look at their squad and think it’s better than ours but win, lose or draw Tuesday is going to be a battle of attrition."

"Charlton are another like ourselves Preston & Wrexham who will be in the bottom third of the league. We need to get points, plural, in this one"

"Nice mix in the lineup needed here of balance + freshness for fitness. Charlton will line up with a 5-3-2, with a compact frustrating approach. They rank 24th in the league for accurate passes p90 and 21st in the league for possesion (we rank 24th for context). As we are home we will be encouraged both by charlton and Eustace to get on the ball more which will mean we should get better technical players on the pitch to help break them down and move them around with the ball at our feet. For me id go with a 4-4-2 approach.

Hopefully one or both of Brewster or CBT will be on the bench to come on for 10/15 minutes aswell.

In possession if we get Elder and Johnston high with Morris holding up the ball and Agyemang being allowed to free roam and as he naturally likes to move out left it will also allow Diaz to find space in that half space to shoot on his right foot from the left.

With Agyemang and Brereton Diaz interchanging in attack. In defence id back us to have enough mobility in that side also to react to charltons counter attack approach.

An advantage for us is one of their biggest outlets in Edwards at Left wing back should be missing for this game which means one of Bell or Gillesphey will play left wing back who want give us at much problems in defence (even though he scored a header on the weekend off a set peice).

Im not as panicked as some people but definitely not as content as others, it is a must win for me and no excuses not to win to be honest, if we get 4-6 points out of the next 2 we can really kick start the season after the international break with a slightly easier run aswell as Beck, Langas, Brewster, Tommo and CBT back involved"
No surprise we rank 24th for accurate passing.
Jones is not interested in the beautiful game. He loves to see a defender hoof it to no one in particular.

  • Frustrate them for 70 minutes then bring on the finishers to nick a winner. Reckon we could sneak this 2-1.

I suspect we tippy-tap pass around at the back or work the ball backwards a lot less than the other 23 teams in the league and probably more likely to try and quickly give our front runners something to chase. Those are the passes that will more likely be 50/50 between the attacker and defender as to who gets to the ball first if they dont go out iof play. I prefer our approach.
  • 1 - 13 easy peasy.
  • This should be a great chance to get 3 points on the road. But this league as we know is very unpredictable.

However Im feeling confident 0-2 and 3 points in the bag

Maybe NJ is thinking ahead of time. For instance, many of the Premier League clubs are playing far more direct football this season than in previous ones. The dreadfully boring tiki taka shite Pep introduced has been found out and busted open by direct, often long balls. City ain't all that nowadays, all the same.

Anyway, let's not carried away... 😂

I think Ramsay will start instead of Burke.

Ramsay has served his penance after his poor decision in 'The Derby' plus being on the bench against Blackburn.
Kayne, Lloyd and Macca back as the CB's and Burke shouldn't be playing 3 games in a week anyway with his recent injury record so rest Burke until Saturday and then decide if he comes back in.
Bell taking the injured Edward's place.
  • An away draw is always a good point.
If we are able to get two draws coming up, or better still one win one defeat, then it is pretty satisfactory.
Four or even six points would be brilliant of course.
On the other hand two defeats kind of takes away from our good start.
We start the game tonight with one point just for turning up, a clean sheet has to be the first priority, but our secret weapon is how good we are in the final quarters of games.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some rotation given it's a game that's come around fast. Expect Leaburn, Olaofe and Ramsay to come in.

  • Predicted a 3-1 win against Blackburn so almost got it right. Going for 1-1 tonight.

One home game in the next five games - will be a challenge....

Let's not be greedy. 1-10 would be good.
  • I think we are gonna smash them to pieces 1 nil.

Kelman to bag his first, safe travels all.
I love it when you say this. I can never tell if you're joking or not but it's quite an accurate description of a lot of our games this season where we physically out battle them and grab a single goal when lots of us feel it could easily be 3
  • It's easy to get carried away and think we should win this one. I suspect Derby sees this as a chance to pick up some points too. I think it will be a tight game, with the score likely to be 0-0, 1-0, or 0-1. A 4-0 win would be just fine.

agreed - I reckon this could be the first game where we see a few changes to the starting XI given we played Saturday and have another tough away game this Saturday
  • I’m expecting a confident Charlton, bristling with desire to score. Great thing is that even after 90 close minutes you’d never bet against us to score in injury time.
  • Score the first goal, and am confident we'll win
