  • Really glad we got to 15, no draw, no 'if you didn't get half a point for Hovland', just beaten in their back yard.

I know full well trump would of used that excuse.

Luke Donald is the modern day Tony Jacklin. Will he do it for a third time?

All the talk of record wins, what a joke.
Anyone who has watched the Ryder Cup over the years would never have believed any of it. We always struggle in the single matches, for whatever reasons.
Damage done on Friday and Saturday. All that matters is the final score.
Just not true though. We've won more singles than they have in recentish years.
  • Cor Dan didn't like to say that "yeah you retained it" but we will make sure you have a hard time getting home.

Yeah, hardly effusive praise, was it?

Loved the chant during the presentation of “Are you watching Donald Trump?” So did most of our players.

Maybe it's just seems like as today has proven they're stronger. Think there needs to be more work on it by Luke if he's still there but tbh with golf there's only so much he can do. It's pretty much an individual sport and all these players are capable of doing it in singles whichever side they're on. Americans obviously will be looking at why they cannot do it as a team. Which in a way will be more difficult to rectify.

    PWR.

Ok, I'm sorry. My fault for wanting it to be a bit closer.

My bad. In the end we won, but never again will I want the US to make a game of it 😳

Yet again it’s an Irishman who gets the crucial score - McGinlay, Harrington, GMac if I remember correctly?

I think today was a mix of fatigue and a shitty draw. Two of our best in Rose and Fitzy were drawn against players who they lose so much in yardage too. It must be tough losing 50 yards on 14 holes. Rory and Scottie were fucked, so a toss up. Tommy / JT goes either way. Rahm should win but Aberg shouldn't. After that, all of it is random. The odd change around in order and it's very different. Personally I think Rose beats Bryson, Rory beats JT and Fleetwood beats Young. Luck of the drW.

They were mainly close matches tbf, felt like we were chucking it away but we only lost 2 matches before the 18th.

Mate I bow to your superior knowledge on each player. I am one of those who only am able to catch major tournaments. I do realise however it is very much luck of the draw but i just always thought the US team are more dangerous in the singles whereas our lot seems very together as a team. Advantages for both. If the draw was better we might of blown them out of the water.

And of course it always comes down to pressure which we struggled with today a bit. And fatigue which the pressure brings on moreover.

Exactly. We were pretty poor but it's not like their guys were winning easily. Apart from Schauffele, the biggest wins all day were 2&1. 8 of the 11 matches went to last hole.

On another day, in those first three matches Rose and Fleetwood get a half and Fitzgerald holds on for the win and we win quite comfortably 16.5 - 10.5.

Yes definately. And I think the Americans were maybe similarly unlucky at points on Friday and Saturday as Europe were just relentless and almost perfect.  Difficult to keep that up for 3 days and we'll need to start protecting some players for the Sunday. Rory and Rham take so much on during the first two days they were just tired on Sunday.
Will be intersting next time if the Europeans try and hold something more back for the singles or the Americans focus on the teamwork games.

Overall it was such an amazing weekend of golf.

The shot from Rose, when he was way off, up against a stand, chipping with ropes, cameras, umbrellas, trees, a big slope and the hole just over the brow of the hill, after about 15 minutes of checking rule books and arguements was absolutely insane.

Was it him in the purple and green away top and Europe scarf wrapped around his bucket hat, that tried to go after the eejit who through beer at Rory’s missus?

Europe nearly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and there was I thinking my 8-4 prediction to U.S.A in the singles was me being pessimistic !

The Americans found their game in the singles when they were playing for pride which was no surprise after being beaten in the Foursome and Four ball over the first two one sided days.

The USA team are top individual players but Luke Donald got his Pairings correct whereas Bradley knows he dropped a clanger with some of his choices.

I kept off this thread as I was watching at least 30 minutes behind over the 4 days as I can then jump forward when the adverts appear !

"In the hole" must be the most boring thing to shout!
At least "Fore left" after the European player had hit his tee shot is slightly humourous as the ball goes down the middle of the fairway !

"In the bunker" is part of the partisan contest BUT shouting out when in mid swing is a NO No.

The Europeans sank their putts on the first two days and the USA sank their putts in the singles.

Lowery was the man who claimed the half point with his excellent birdie on the 18th but a big shout out to  Aberg who was the only Euro Singles winner 👏🏼

🏆 The Ryder cup is one of the Great team sporting contest's and this one built to a fantastic climax.
