General Things That Annoy You thread - part 2

Making a journey on a National Express coach, paid a little extra to book a window seat in the hope of having a bit of space around me for what will be a good 7+ hours.

Had another look at the seating map and now found somebody has booked the aisle seat next to me yet the row behind both our seats are available still along with the odd other seat dotted about in the first 5 rows which are the only ones you can book.

My conclusion is that this person must be travelling in a group of at least 3 people who have also booked the other two seats in my row just so they can all sit together. Like really? do you need to sit directly next to each other across aisle seats for 7+ hours which will make the journey far more uncomfortable next to someone when they could have a two seater behind me to themself or likewise in the row directly behind the other two people they are likely travelling with. All just to sit in aisle seats next to each other.

And if it's a lone traveller who likes to be social they'll be disappointed when my headphones are on asap.

Over the last fortnight my fiancée and I have driven from Leeds to Debrechen (Hungary) and back without any issues except in Italy where:

France is amazing for that, especially when you hit the toll roads in the more rural parts. Me and one of my mates ended up going the wrong way. This was when sat navs were things that got shared and borrowed and the one we borrowed didnt really work abroad! It was also in a time where people rolled their eyes if you paid by card. My maps reading is up there with the best of them so of course we didn't bother with a map either 

Handed over a tenner in english money, received change for 100 euros

Luckily we avoided the French police that trip as those fuckers love a cash fine for any number of fabricated offences

 The parking enforcement people are not letting it go. stress none of us need. 

what is the purpose of this car park registration? Surely it's to deter people from parking there who have no right to park there. Not people visiting loved ones? 

It's pretty obvious to me that it's either a computer error or something malicious. whole thing stinks. 

That’s awful. I bet there’ll be people who just pay it anyway as they’re worried about what will happen if they don’t. Like you say, stress you don’t need. 

I phoned my GP surgery this morning and, as usual, was in a queue. I was amazed to hear I was number one in the queue. This went on for a while and then changed to number two in the queue. How does that work? Anyway I stay on for longer and move back up to one. Then I’m on the phone for a further 20 mins and my phone runs out of battery.

Yeah they are. They have collected evidence i.e the photo of my vehicle coming into the car park and then leaving 2 hours later. On their computer system my registration doesn't come up even though I know I put it in. Neither does anyone on that day for 3 hours. Which to me is a bit odd. 
They have sent that info to an independent company and I have given my thoughts on it all. I don't have any evidence apart from I say I put my registration in plus the fact I am there for a legitimate reason. This independent lot will then come back no doubt saying I have to pay and as @Arsenetatters has said some have just paid because they can't deal with the hassle.

Does your registration contain either a zero Or the letter O?

Easy on a keypad to get them mixed up and a potential reason why it’s not ‘on the system’. Certainly a mistake I once made.

My Mrs went and picked up a take away Harvester recently (i know) and forgot to put her reg in the machine.

We got as £120 fine.

I went in to moan about it and the restaurant wiped it.

That stupid winners badge on their shirts for league games is equally shite. Apart from it being a tournament that has nothing to do with the premier league, so shouldn’t be on their league game shirts, I find it pretty meaningless and a prime example of empty posturing.
But I suppose that suits them, the jumped up self-important little gobshites.

Grounds for appeal ie innocent error if true perhaps. 

Mine does but there's no registration at all for any vehicle coming in during that 3 hour period.

Google parking charges from private companies/private land.

I know your opening line said you’re not anyway, but please don’t pay this. Even when they try to put the frighteners on you and threaten CCJs and all sort of nonsense that no one except a judge can grant, do not pay it. It’s a request for payment, an invoice, not a fine. They rely on people getting scared and paying it and that’s how they remain in business. Is the legal firm they’ve ’escalated’ it to DBC legal by any chance? If so, please please don’t pay it. Just Google that charlatan, pathetic excuse for a legal firm and you’ll see that they’re a complete joke firm who prey on vulnerable people and drop their cases before they go to court every single time because they hope you’ll get scared and pay it before that, even though no judge in the country would side with them. Even if it goes to ‘mediation’ where they will probably halve their offer in minutes (which tells you everything you need to know) just ignore it and don’t pay a penny until they get fed up and give up.
