POST-MATCH THREAD: Charlton Athletic v Millwall: Saturday 13th September 2025: KO 12:30pm
An honest, hard-working performance from Charlton today saw them dominate the visitors for large parts of the game, going up 1-0 in the first half through a lovely Sonny Carey strike. Tyreece Campbell worked himself into the ground and proved dangerous whenever he was on the ball. Things were going mostly Charlton’s way.
That changed when Kayne Ramsay saw red after what I thought was a fairly soft but understandable second yellow. His first challenge was brilliant but he then threw himself into another that was a split second late. The Addicks did well to regroup and had a few decent opportunities to seal the win. But the blue lot’s confidence built as they settled into their numerical advantage and they eventually equalised.
So, our jammy neighbours escape again, scoring late with their first shot on target.
What’s more worrying is that we’re not picking up the points in the league that our performances deserve.
Charlton 1 Millwall 1
Over to you.

Thanks Charlton. Ruined my holiday.10

Kayne Ramsay is a mug.7

How many times are we going to be the “better team” but yet still come away with nothing or at least not the 3 points. Starting to get a little bit boring.18
-
But seriously best we've played against that lot in a long time. Really thought we would do it. But we are just cursed. Gutted but mostly proud of the boys54
-
Against any other team I'd be happy with that given the red card. But against that lot a draw is a loss.7

Ramsey’s been great for us but he cost us two points today. An absolutely idiotic challenge for a man on a yellow.
Once again, we have to put up with their supporters’ ugly triuphalism.29 -
I know it’s hard to do but take the opponents out of it and that’s a great reaction to QPR. There was fight, energy and quality. All undone by one moment of madness and one 10 second patch with a few errors in.29

WHY DID JONES NOT SUB RAMSAY?18
-
Poor game management really in the second half. Obviously dumb red card but could have been subbed off beforehand.
Thought most of the formation/tactic changes post red card were poor also.9 -
We're used to this, but it still hurts... We deserved the win after the performance we put in for 90mins - The Red Card was a big moment, but teams can hang on with a man down, and feel that in modern Football, its less of an advantage than what it used to be.
Campbell who was the villain of the story last time, shouldn't have started... Showed what the fans truly know... with an excellent performance... Kelman showed a lot of improvement. There are benefits to take with a long season still to come.
Easy to say now... But we limited Millwall to that one chance, that they frustratingly took - Eyes will be on Ramsay's absence, but even with the pressure, we had the experience in Defence to be able to hold on21 - Sponsored links:

I saw Bree coming on, thought sensible, gonna bring Ramsay off….Nah that would be to easy9

Sending off done us. So fucked off.18

Wasn’t even close to winning the ball. One of the most stupid moments I’ve seen from a player
The only matchup we lost today until the 78th minute was their winger on Ramsay. Two poor games from him now and I’d keep him out the side for a bit.
Wveryone else, quality. Kelman so much better today. Campbell class.4 -

Jones got booked as well, and managed to avoid a second booking.45 -
The issue is we have some good/great performances but that's still only 1 point from the last 3 games and 2 points from the last 4.2
-
A good performance disappointed with the result in the end but you can’t say the way the game went a draw is a fair result
like others have said I prefer Manion in goal1 -
Oh well, we will just have to stuff them in the return...pissed off big time with bloody Millwall, and all there silly little schoolboy songs they sing, anyone would think they have beaten us...2
-
Good luck everyone with your 40 minute trek to Charlton station5
-
We've been the better side against both Leicester and today so it sucks to only come away with one point. That rashness from Ramsay cost us but at least we are proving that we are capable of mixing it at this level.20

I don’t know what the Millwall fans were commemorating for the first 70 minutes but it was an immaculately observed silence.100

Typical, its the second time in 2025, and first time at the Valley that we've scored first and not won.2
-
Watching the goal replays on sky, Kaminski has pissed me off even more, and I was feckin pissed at him. Terrible terrible keeping. Mannion should be at NJ's door monday morning. F'ing fuming. Millwall deserved feck all all game, and that Flemish prick puts it on a plate for them.9

I thought Carey was class today. Also thought we played really well. Silly foul from Ramsey, I genuinely think in that moment he forgot he was on a yellow. We can’t get on his back though he’s been amazing for us and is a big reason why we are in this league with Millwall. Loving how competitive we are in every game this year. The wins will come, I believe!!!!35

More concerned about dropping 2 points than not winning against Millwall2
-
It stings a bit, but to be honest for me all I care about is that we stay in the league this year and it’s another point towards that.
We know a Jones team can start the season of slow before really finding its stride, and at the moment - although we’re not picking up lots of points - we’re not looking out of place.
So looking long term I don’t have anything to feel to down about.10 -
That's a shame. First half we played the way we have so far this season but got the goal to go with it. I thought second half we managed the game brilliantly. It was 60 minutes before I knew it and nothing had happened. Bree came on and was superb down the right, obviously up for a fight and with a bit of class to go with it. Millwall looked out of ideas, they'd taken off their first set of attackers and while Bangura-Williams looked dangerous I was confident right up until Ramsay got sent off. We were always going to struggle after that and our workmanlike team can only do so much when our entire outlet is Leaburn and Campbell. They did well to fashion one chance between them but it was always going to keep coming back to us and we got tired. Stupid, stupid choice from Ramsay but it can't be helped now.Difficult as it is, we should be looking at this game for what it is; a good performance against a decent side coming off the back of two disappointing losses in the league. Curbs would have said after those two results and the break the first thing you do is stop the rot. A point off a play-off chasing team who we never beat is good, it just feels bad because Ramsay threw it all away when it could have been more. On to Sheff Utd next match and we pray they keep playing the way they have so far so we can tonk them.18

Bell and Carey were excellent today.
Jones solid.
TC worked tirelessly.
Kelman looked sharp.
Captain worked hard.
Coventry was good.
Ramsey, our most consistent performer - let us down.

It's Millwall ain't it?

Meanwhile ...
Harvery Gardens is absolutely rammed so good luck trying to get away.
F***ing Spanners. Instead if the police closing the roads they should have been put in solitary confinement instead until we'd got away from the ground.5
