Was there any reason yesterday wasn't an 11pm shut? How does everyone decide what time to close the window?
It being an International Weekend might be the reason... Isak went straight from Liverpool to join up with Sweden for example. Looking at the Fixtures on the BBC, the first World Cup Qualifiers are on Thursday so imagine an 11pm window, possibly would have resulted in players not arriving on duty till tomorrow morning at the earliest and missing training etc.?
Someone will probably come along and prove I'm chatting shit though lol!

I’m pretty sure it was to avoid “normal” staff having to work until 2/3am, a byproduct was it made it more interesting I think as everything was condensed
Hard to get too excited about 7 goals in the last 3 years, and he’s been out injured since Feb 2025.
Surely that makes him perfect for us then
In all serious though, we'll have 5 strikers once Godden returns, with the signing of Bree, Apter can now move further up the pitch, we can adjust out formations/tactic, and we still have Kelman and Knibbs to effectively bed into the team, and that's without mentioning Tanto. Watching JRC in the Stevenage game, he look very composed on the ball and passing; he's had very little game time in the, but I feel he will be a pig part of our midfield going forward.
As much as I'd to like to have seen the addition of Fofana, I feel most of us were like children wanting more candy, instead we were left cheesed off, despite having a decent squad. Now they have to show us how grate they are, starting with Millwall on the 13th.
Not sure this leaves our current crop of attackers with a show of confidence
Who cares. They’re grown men who haven’t done their job to the required standard yet. They shouldn’t get pity for underperforming, you don’t get that in a normal job
You don't get booed, insulted, sworn at and criticism from people who have never done your job to the same level either
Even if you did get treated like that by someone you work with, you'd have the option of going to HR to make it stop.
Also if you're underperforming in a normal job, a good Manager will find out why... See what the reason might be, and if anything outside work is effecting you from being able to work properly, and if there are issues... Then yes, you might get pity and support.
At least we have one of those now after plenty of failed attempts

I hope the Fofana thing isn't because Matty is going to be out longer than originally thought.....? If that is true, I guess Micah wouldn't have realistically been cover for him so could go up the A12 anyway. Although, maybe it was a great deal and hard to not go for.
Realistically Mbick wasn’t going to get the game time. However, it feels like this may have been slightly premature before we were certain that Fofana was in the building

Mbick shouldn't be anywhere near the 1st team at the moment, A loan is perfect for his development. He needs regular mens football to learn and expand his game.

I actually think the way the Cowley's like to set up a football side will be good for Mbick and I'm sure they will be looking to use his physicality as an outlet and would be a huge benefit for us if they can develop that side of his game further, don't see too many great risks from this loan personally, given we have Godden still to come back
Overall, we have had a progressive window with lots of developing talent which NJ will get the best out of. It is such such early days in the season, judge after 10-12 games where we are, but feel safe in the knowledge that we are a much stronger outfit now than we were a year ago which is what the ownership promised - steady progress.
If bureaucracy at the FA/FPL/EFL scuppered a decent loan move, it’s frustrating but sounds like it could have been an admin error on our side. If the latter happened and NJ was in the room at the time would have made for interesting viewing.
Think Mbick getting a loan to a L2 side was probably an opportunity that was too good for us to turn down he’s made what 5 proper senior appearances, so the fact he’s got a move to a football league side is impressive and is already the 2nd choice striker by default. Should get a chance to really test himself, that’s worth more than keeping him in U21’s with the reality that we wouldn’t lose 2-3 strikers to injury or couldn’t switch to a 3421 with our options
If the Fofana reports were true, what happened to Preston’s effort? Eh?
I smell grift.
Yes, always sounded like agent talk or more likely Chelsea trying to generate interest.
A few Chelsea sites saying Charlton didn't get the deal done in time but that makes a better story and deflects the blame than saying it was never close.
Who knows what the truth is other than to always rely on the six magic words.

Yeah I’m not saying he would have played . But we do need cover if one or two get injured he’s on the bench. This isn’t the case now

Patrick Yannford is available. Josh brownhill and Josh da Silva for midfield. Don't think we could afford any of their wages though to be honest.
