And prefer Ward to Bree. Have no clue on either player though.
Why would you prefer Ward then?
To be fair, 'I don't know what I'm talking about but here's my opinion anyway' could be Charlton Life's motto
Well it beats "my Saints supporting mate says...."  or "my best mate is mates with a Stoke ST holder and he says...."
Lol no it doesn't. Getting information from someone who has watched the player across 50 appearances is useful. Saying one player is better than the other despite not knowing who either of them are is just embarrassing.

Got to get our xG up, this is the way. Our xGA is great so let's sacrifice a bit of that and hover around 13th for that instead, should put the xG up a few places which should = mid-table finish.

If we did go 4-3-3 then I think Jones and one of Burke/Gillesphey would have to be the centre backs with Ramsay/Bree right back. And then I’d probably say Leaburn or Godden as the best options for lone striker
Jokes aside I don't know what we are gonna do in the long run.

As much as I think we look good defensively, we are void of ideas at times. I know TC and Apter create chances on paper but it doesn't look that way in the flesh, they're easily defended chances mostly.

I don't know where that leaves Apter if Bree comes in, same as if Fukuda did.

I honestly don't think Jones knows his best XI and we won't know until around Christmas.

Personally think we don't suit the 532 at this level. In League 1 it worked as we got punished less often and the defenders were worse, we don't have wing backs who can put in killer crosses/chances and defend the whole game. Early doors though, but that's my gut feeling so far.

I still think the 3-5-2 is the way to go, 3 at the back suits the squad because it’s what we’ve recruited for. I’d like to see Knibbs for Docherty in the games we think we can be more adventurous, and then maybe a switch to 3-4-2-1 for the more defensive games with Bree coming in and Apter moving forward.

I know it’s boring, but we just aren’t going to be a team that creates lots of chances. We will do what we are good at, being solid and nicking wins from low margin games. It’s not pretty but it will keep us up. We’ve only played 4 games but I think if we extrapolated those performance levels over the whole season then we will stay up

Messaged a Luton fan about Bree. His reply

Sweet dreams are made of Bree

Jones at it yet again then

None of Ramsay, Gillesphey or Bell are suited to playing in a back 4 as centre backs. Burke would be the most suitable to play there alongside Jones if he was fit enough consistently.

This forum really does have a habit of creating self fulfilling prophecies. First we put so many pictures of Appleton’s ugly mug on here it drew him to us and now finally all the incessant cheese puns have finally brought a signing

NJ isn't adverse to a back 4. If Bree comes in at RB, can have Apter in front of him.

    Bree is a non-starter.

Heard he's going to Red Leicester.

Saints season ticket holder mate on James Bree:

‘Yeah, very decent championship player - I would
have liked to have kept him. Nathan Jones loves him, he was the one who brought him to saints in the first place.’

We already play with a back 4 when we've got the ball.

I'd like to see this signing but won't stress about it.... Bree-sy come, Bree-sy go.

As others have said I can't imagine a player like Bree in his mid-20's who started that many premier league games last season coming in as RWB cover for Charlton. He will expect to start and begs the question where does Apter move to? We cannot drop Apter, has been far and away the best of the new recruits so far, perhaps he moves into the TC role?
    It's 433 time.

Let's get that xG and key chances created up!
    You're dropping Bell???

Its always possible that Jones will occasionally ring the changes.

If he was a lot younger we could have Baby Bell and Bree together in our back five.

If xg says so then it has to be done.  Gotta love a bit of xg.

Bree isn’t fit so there won’t be any change in the short term.

I think it’s great that we have so many options, could easily move to something like this:

                           Kaminski
               Ramsay  Jones   Bell

    Bree    Docherty   Coventry.   Edwards

                 Apter             Carey
                         Leaburn

Quite defensive but good to have that option, with the usual Apter wing back for the games we want to attack more

Why take on a player who is unfit?

Surprised it's a loan but fine with it given he's out of contract in the summer

I think that’s ideal, firstly because he will be on big money, and secondly if he’s brilliant then yes let’s sign him. If not then let’s not block Asiimwe’s path

Might also be easier to agree a loan move today of all days, rather than haggle over fees

Think we have probably been after him for a while, Southampton have tried to sell but have had no luck so we can get a loan done. Concerning that if he performs we could lose him in January but that's the risk you take with loans
