  • So I’m assuming he doesn’t rate Mitchell, otherwise why on earth let him go just to sign Lockyer (and Burke for that matter).

Also, on RC’s quote there, If we aren’t signing a cb then why did Nathan say we are short at the back?

NJ confirmed to RC it’s WB we want to make a signing.

But it wouldn’t surprise me if we loaned out Zach and brought in a CB as well.

    who does really!

I'm more comfortable Lockyer coming back in a coaching/training capacity.

On the pitch? No thank you.

"Almost all forms of physical activities can be performed by patients with an ICD with moderation. All forms of sports that do not pose a risk of damaging the ICD or because of the underlying cardiomyopathy can be undertaken by the patient. Special care should be taken not to put excessive strain on the shoulder, arm and torso area where the ICD is implanted. Doing so may damage the ICD or the leads going from the ICD generator to the patient's heart. Particularly to be avoided are exercises that cause the clavicle to be pulled down towards the ribs, such as lifting weights with the arm, on the ICD site, while standing."

Surely he couldn't anyway with the physical nature of the sport and risk of damage to his ICD.

  • The plan was for Zach to go out on loan and it was fully anticipated he was going to have moved by now, then suddenly Alex goes and it’s now under the impression that Zach is staying. If we sign another centre back, that might change. If not, I believe Zach is staying put.
  • The RWB looks like it will 100% happen, the Zach out and a new cb in seems like a 50/50 something we would want to do but may not be viable unless all the starts align

I’m sure that the risks have been explained to him and also that his medical team are happy that the risk involved isn’t significant enough to deny Tom the chance of resurrecting his career.
  • Are there no takers for Zach?

We have weakened ourselves with Alex leaving for the season, so need a good backup.
  • Ronnie Edwards might be a shout, QPR have had an offer rejected maybe we can put a proposal together?

Be surprised if he doesnt cost a fair amount given Southampton spent £3m in 2024, and on a four year deal.

He's also the type of player I doubt will want to join as he'll have Ramsay / Jones ahead of him in the pecking order, so doubt the board will want to waste a couple of million on an individual who isn't going to be a guaranteed starter.

They’ve had 4M rejected for him from QPR no chance we’re even looking at him
  • Between him and Burke there’s at least one fit player. Low wages and something to prove, let’s see what happens.
Both haven’t played 90 in two years. Not an ounce of game ready between them.

First option on this list that caught my eye and feels realistic was Bali Mumba.

Was a standout in the Plymouth team that got promoted out of L1. 86 apps across two seasons in the Championship with them since.
I think he would work great in our system as well.
  • I guess the only thought with Mumba would be playing time. Very good player though with a good amount of champ experience.
  • Surprised Mumba hasn't been snapped up already, can only assume there's a high asking price

You won’t get Edwards for £2m he’s an England U21 INTL and a future Premier League regular.

Almost any other Champ team and he’s a starter, it would be some coup to get him (which unfortunately we won’t)

I assumed the original post was meant as a loan deal?

Or perhaps the Connor Barrett story wasn’t that wide of the mark, if it is indeed a wing back that Nathan wants?

But if NJ is saying we're light at the back, loaning out Zach, and getting in another CB would be a net gain of zero. So we'd still be light at the back.

And Lockyer is a no go, purely on insurance grounds. I'm not sure he'd even be insurable. Fabrice Muamba, remember him?

  • Cawley ruled Fukuda out the other day

So Marc is in Japan, could it be Fukuda!!
And why would he have any input or be meeting players.. He is very much a background investor as I understand

Can’t exactly send Rodwell or Jones. Perhaps he has pre-existing contacts out there? It doesn’t really matter who is representing the organisation as long as someone is and they are there to talk.

Could all just be a coincidence though

    Coaching role here?
With the Tom Lockyer rumor, this sounds the most likely, possible a player-coach role, similar to what Danny Hylton did last season.
  • No lols please but Chuks Aneke, what happened to him and is there any chance of a return to the starting line up or subs bench?? I know he was injured and saw him slow down but I think he is missed and what we have so far does not make up for what we miss.
That would be some piece of business, release him and make it clear he is no longer wanted, wait a few weeks hoping no club comes in and approaches him, then return, his confidence shatter and offer him half his wages on a 1 yr contract

I think i read the other day that he was close to ,  or had just had,  the all clear to start playing again .......
When we was a guest on Sky for the Luton AFCW game (1st August) he said he should get the all clear in 4 weeks time, which is this weekend essentially
Is he playing for QPR
  • How many coaches are required to achieve cat. 1 for the Academy?

He said we’re fine for CB’s but reckon Jones could have been talking about the numbers rather than quality so as long as we have the 6CB’s we should be fine bare in mind we only used 5 CB’s the whole of last season. It’s a RWB he wants to prioritise
