Apparently the family want to keep it but the brewery want to get rid as it needs a lot spent on it.Curb_It said:Any news on the Anchor @Baldybonce ?0 -

Incredibly, in their wisdom, the Licensing Committee (Councillors) decided not to revoke the licence today.clive said:

* Then on 2nd July there was an assault by a doorman. A woman was throttled.
* Met PC Mark Evans also stated the site was a base of gangs and that police intelligence stated they were bringing firearms on site. It had been stated in a report that the business had not supplied CCTV to police or met with them when requested.
In fact, all the licensing conditions offered by the pub weren’t even implemented except that it will close 1 hour earlier each night.
I fear it will take a serious incident happening there for them to take notice.0 -

Had a chat with the manager of Roses and, given we’ve had nothing but 12.30 kick offs at home so far, she’s agreed to open at 10.30 instead of the usual 12 for the game on the 13th September. Easy bus/walk along to the ground from the bottom of the road.TelMc32 said:
The landlady from The Bull Tavern took it on a couple of years ago when Greenwich Council forced them out of The Bull with a CPO. She’s worked hard to breathe a bit of life back into it.Covered End said:
I used to go in there at lunch times about 5 years ago.TelMc32 said:
Is it? They’ve been doing a lot to attract people in with various theme nights. Usually a decent crowd at weekends and a good few Charlton on match days. Not easy for any pubs these days, especially if they don’t/can’t offer food.Covered End said:Probably because The Rose pub is only a few doors down and that is struggling.
About half a dozen in there, whilst the Spoons had maybe 100+.

the police may have something to say about that.TelMc32 said:

It’s allowed under their licence just as many other pubs, like the Royal Oak, have also been opening early for these 12.30 kick offs.msomerton said:

but this is Millwall. Last time we played them at home all the pubs near the ground advised not to open before the game or immediately after.TelMc32 said:

They’re not going to be stopping pubs in Woolwich, or London Bridge for that matter, from opening.msomerton said:

About half a dozen in there, whilst the Spoons had maybe 100+.I suspect there’ll be a lot of resistance from the Charlton pubs (Royal Oak, RoD & Bugle) if they try it there too.0 -

Have to say, it was quite jarring today how many pubs there were within walking distance of Loftus Road, while we only have a couple left.
Fanzone or fans bar does just not match the experience of a proper pub.7 -

The good thing about those pubs is you never heard “can I get” when asking for a beer.SuedeAdidas said:

Am I missing something here? Why does a new house being built next to the beer garden mean the pub has to close - surely that's a red herring and it's the "couldn't agree terms with the landlord" part that's relevant - presumably their lease/rent was up for renewal?clive said:
Also, this "much loved" pub shuts at 9pm on a Sunday and doesn't open again until 4pm on a Wednesday. That's not a good sign for a pub.2 -
That's such a crap area for pubs. Your choice is basically The Duke or The Crown, and they're both rubbish. Better off heading further into Greenwich.0

The Crown is where I watched our game at Wrexham last season! The pub was showing Palace's FA Cup semi final on two other screens and was full of Palace fans. Okay maybe it is rubbishChunes said:That's such a crap area for pubs. Your choice is basically The Duke or The Crown, and they're both rubbish. Better off heading further into Greenwich.0 -
That said, the River Ale House isn't exactly a lengthy hike away1
