Those of you who were not bothered about the Swiss Tony cup because it was crap, and now not bothered about the League Cup because we won’t win it, will presumably want us eliminated from the FA cup at the first possible opportunity as we won’t win that? Are you convinced that without that “unnecessary” interference we will get promoted to the Premier League? Or is the entire ambition you hold for the Addicks is to finish 17th in the Championship? And if we do get promoted to the EPL, will you be disappointed as we might get humped 6-0 by Arsenal?
Would you be happy with a Third Round tie, getting dicked 6-0 by Arsenal, and relegation from the Championship, because of the extra games that we've had to play?
Does a third round match guarantee relegation? Must have missed that addition to the rules.

I think people should be more annoyed at the senior players we did have playing than the team selection. They should have really ensured we got a result, let alone just been more competitive against a league 2 side

Yeah its a huge game in our mini-League... But the outcome wont technically decide anything is what I was trying to say. So I won't get overly worked up if we don't lose on that reasoning, even if defeat would be concerning.

Yeah there were probably too many kids on the bench but I was certainly expecting more from the starting eleven. There was enough there to beat a league two side but apart from Fullah they didn't show up.

Just looked back and you are indeed correct. A little petty and unnecessary.
It wasn't just the defeat, it was the terrible, ugly and ineffectual tactics which were back to the worst of Oct/Nov '24.
Do you think it was the tactics or the teams inability to play the desired way?
If one of the purposes of the game was to give Oalafe and Kelman, in particular, the chance to jump start their season and give us some real bite up front in games to come, then Gillesphey hoofing diagonal balls as per his worst displays last Autumn was not very helpful. Jones could have put a stop to that with one simple message. So I imagine Jones must have been happy with the tactic. More fool him.

Seems to me that NJ was trying to make a point. What point & to whom I dont know. Maybe putting a few youngsters in the window? Maybe telling to owners they aren't good enough (his post match comments seem to say this). What I do know is he thinks he knows best & wont be persuaded otherwise.
