  • I'm just looking forward to QPR now. Seeing as we will have 11 rested players we should hammer them....yes ?
You can’t honestly be that dense can you? Seriously?
You wouldn't recognise sarcasm if it ran up your leg & tweaked your nose.
that’s not sarcasm though? It makes no sense? What are you being sarcastic about?

No one said resting the players guaranteed a win on Saturday? No one
Paging Mr Pot… Mr Pot… a call on line four from a Mr Kettle for you… 😉😂
Genuinely understand I’m not everyone’s cup of tea, just a bit confused about Golfie being sarcastic about something no one actually said in the first place.
Could be the voices in his head
You accused someone else of saying something they didn’t, I was just (hopefully in a tongue in cheek/amusing way) pointing it out…

Those of you who were not bothered about the Swiss Tony cup because it was crap, and now not bothered about the League Cup because we won’t win it, will presumably want us eliminated from the FA cup at the first possible opportunity as we won’t win that? Are you convinced that without that “unnecessary” interference we will get promoted to the Premier League? Or is the entire ambition you hold for the Addicks is to finish 17th in the Championship? And if we do get promoted to the EPL, will you be disappointed as we might get humped 6-0 by Arsenal?
Would you be happy with a Third Round tie, getting dicked 6-0 by Arsenal, and relegation from the Championship, because of the extra games that we've had to play?
Does a third round match guarantee relegation? Must have missed that addition to the rules.
Come on, don't be pedantic, you know what I mean!! - The longer the season goes on, the more and more running they'll have to do, to keep up with the fitness of the Championship will take effort out of the players

If we can play the minimum of 49-games this season, and finish 21st, its a success.

No one upset about tonight will truly give a rats arse about this defeat.
Win on Saturday and I will have forgotten all about today. Just winds me up that plenty of other teams manage to compete in multiple competitions each season while we fold at pretty much the first opportunity every time.
Dont even care if we win on Saturday or not... Its the season as a whole, that needs to be looked at, not just the one game - We'll go into Saturday with about eleven players who have had the week off from match action, QPR will go into Saturday not having played at all this midweek.

If QPR win, does it mean that we shouldnt even have bothered against Stevenage?
You've lost me there. Easiest game on paper in our next 3 game block and we have no game next weekend. You have to care about winning it

I’ve genuinely missed that to be honest mate. Doesn’t sound like me to accuse someone of that 😐
Taken in jest as it should have been 👍
  • Sheff Wed beat Leeds on pens. And Sheff Wed didnt need to rest 11 1st teamers and play the youngsters as their 1st team ARE mainly youngsters.
  • I think people should be more annoyed at the senior players we did have playing than the team selection. They should have really ensured we got a result, let alone just been more competitive against a league 2 side
  • But miffed we lost. But as it's the milk cup not a priority in my football season. On to Saturday where the result is more important.
Think the players performance showed the importance of this game.

Sorry... What I meant was... Its September... We can win it, we can still get relegated, we can lose it and still survive, there are a lot of games between the result and the end of the season.

Yeah its a huge game in our mini-League... But the outcome wont technically decide anything is what I was trying to say. So I won't get overly worked up if we don't lose on that reasoning, even if defeat would be concerning.

Herminator, it's a forum, your opinion is as important as the next poster, as for Golfie, it's just his way, you won't change him, just let him post his angst, he feels better about getting of his chest.
    Nicely put. Good advice

So we now have 4 (four) months without a cup game.
  • The situation this evening is a test of resolve for the players, the club and us the fans.
We need the minerals to stay positive when the hard times come this season.
  • Does that red affect the league at all?
    No.

Cards stay in the competition they are received in.

Good job we aren't going through to the next round.
“red cards transcend England's domestic competitions. If a player were to receive a ban for a red card shown in a Carabao Cup clash, they would miss their team's next game, whatever domestic competition that may be”
    Oops....my bad.

Excellent ! they will wear themselves out quicker then !
  • It wasn't just the defeat, it was the terrible, ugly and ineffectual tactics which were back to the worst of Oct/Nov '24.

Do you think it was the tactics or the teams inability to play the desired way?

Pleased to hear that. Just for the record, it was your comment to Red Valley East I was referring to.

Just looked back and you are indeed correct. A little petty and unnecessary.

If one of the purposes of the game was to give Oalafe and Kelman, in particular, the chance to jump start their season and give us some real bite up front in games to come, then Gillesphey hoofing diagonal balls as per his worst displays last Autumn was not very helpful. Jones could have put a stop to that with one simple message. So I imagine Jones must have been happy with the tactic. More fool him.
  • Utter rubbish tonight. That was supposed to be the highlight of my Charlton couple header today. What a disappointment.

I'm sure there'll be plenty of others who've seen Charlton play twice in a day, but have any Lifers seen as play and win two?
