  • Cashed out 30 seconds before our goal lovely
Similar to the time lag between the game and the sky tv feed…

even the Sky app is reacting quicker than the ‘live tv’ feed

Well you wont get from me. Even if we go on to win I'm still not happy. We look a shambles of a side & you'd think we were the League 2 team.

Only bright spark was the goal. Kelman will get pelters but he's hardly had a chance - 1 shot from a tight angle that he was unlikely to score from & another half chance on the turn.

Look at their first goal - 4 or 5 crisp passes from inside out half & then a cut back to a player who just needed to finish from 6 yards out.

When did we last do that ?

    We know golfie. We know.

Awful 40 minutes.  Defensively weak, no creativity and the only forward passes were punts forward

The changes after AMB's life threatening injury improved things, as it got Fullah on the ball in a more central position.

I still think Zach is a good footballer, but playing in the middle of the 3, you've got to be a hardcore,  strong and dominant centre back, and he isn't that yet.
And that's the reason why we are playing Zach so he can learn.

In fairness to NJ you would expect 8 players in the starting XI who have all played L1 and above to be able to beat a L2 side. We’re rocking a 5M strike force and think we’ve gone too weak? Bare in mind one of those 3 who haven’t played at L1 and above has been our best player

    I just don't get it.

I can live with the starting line up but that subs bench - full of kids  2 of whom apparently played for the U-21s this afternoon - is just a piss take by Jones out of everyone who has travelled tonight.

Why on earth don't we take the cup seriously? Win this and we could have had say Arsenal or Man utd at home under the floodlights.

But oh no, let's just muck about in it again and go out in the early rounds as usual.

Well I'm fed up of that attitude.

Cant be saying that on here. It's a numpty cup match & all that we should be concerned about is the League 🤷‍♂️

If you throw random players on together that haven't played much football together, you'll end up looking like a team that hasn't played much together.

Poor half from a random team chucked together to play on a Tuesday night before a huge championship game early on Saturday.

    Pulse rates down everyone
We do not need to rest anyone. The ‘random ‘ team is a choice by NJ.

Who knows if the second half can see some improvement? If it doesn’t then the more established names are doing themselves no favours for a bigger role on Saturday.

But only one goal it so a half time rollicking from NJ may do the trick.
Why don’t we need to rest anyone?

90 minutes of incredibly hard work on Saturday I assure you will still be in most of those players legs
Because they are fit and able. Because we use substitutes. Because an international break is upcoming. Because a cup run is a good thing.

Doesn’t change the fact that tired legs get more injuries.

not worth the risk in my opinion

Matty Godden basically gained a reputation and a nickname for scoring inside the six yard box last season.
The build up play you fool.

And if we were winning you’ll be prattling on about how it’s a distraction from the league.

    tiresome contrarianism again

Don't care about the cup personally.

More concerned about how poor some of the depth looks tonight.
They need games though, which an extra cup game or two is useful for.

We were right to play JRC, Tanto, Gillesphey etc tonight but the issue for me is the youth team players around them - but then we've not got much depth (yet) at wing-back as we know.

Feels like every time the ball falls to JRC he just aimlessly pumps it forward, not even on a diag so there’s no chance for anything to come of it

I am normally one to give pelters to golfie for being overly negative, but I think he has a point about the team selection, there's playing kids and there is playing kids who have already had a game today.

And you can argue over the merits of the cup, I don't care too much about it. But I can easily see why others do.

Good flick on from Mitchell from a FK but no one to capitalise

Ball into their box, flicked on by Mitchell, but no-one there and they clear.

Its almost like Christmas Day here on CharltonLife.

Every year we get to the Cup games on here, and the arguments of: "Its a distraction", "Cup Run is good" are pretty much guaranteed :)
