Great performance. Need Godden back. Leaburn better than Kelman.. just hoping we haven’t got another had me. .Need someone like chuks in a game like that. That was a real battle with an undeserved win for them.lloyd Jones becoming a legend already.1

Disappointed but not disheartened. These things tend to even out and if we keep playing like that we'll win lots of games this season. The effort we put in and the never say die spirit were truly admirable. I concur with others about Docherty; we said before the match that he was the weak link in today's side, but he really wasn't - he was the lynchpin. If there's on concern I have it's about team discipline. I'm all for the aggressive style of play, but the rough and tumble approach cost us a goal today. Add to that a ridiculous booking for Coventry and a soft one for Jones. I don't want our own foul play to cost us. Final word, credit to the Charlton fans, great to see them right behind the team right to the end. Long may it continue.2

He's obviously there for his goal scoring ability rather than his chance creation but is that enough? Especially when he's been limited in his goal scoring positioning so far in these first 3 games and forced to attempt to create chances more often.
They are only counted if the chance created results in a goal - and depends on the ability of the goalscorer to score.
If the chance is missed then the player creating the chance gets no credit.
Instead, better perhaps to count and credit the chance creator, regardless of whether a goal is scored.
Campbell's successful passes today. Do you see where the issue may be?
Same goes for Apter. Though he fires in a lot more crosses into the box than TC does in similar areas of the pitch.
The majority of our successful crosses are from Coventry and Edwards....the set-piece takers.0 -

Leaburn was imperious and won everything in the air, Doch and Cov responded to criticism with two outstanding performances, Jones was excellent and would make a decent striker at a lower level... everyone was good.
(I will say, having defended Kelman recently, he annoyed me today. He came on with fresh legs and walked around the pitch).
And while we do have a lot of athleticism in the final third, we're lacking class and quality. We have a tendency to panic and snatch at things.
But I can't be displeased because if we keep playing like that, we'll do well.

Edit: maybe a bit OTT but 11 strikers with 11+ goals isn’t a huge amount29 players hit double figures last season…0 -

See we're down to 14th now, but only three points off 6th spot, all is not lost, QPR will pay for today...1

We didn’t take the chances we had, they did. We gave as good as we got otherwise.2

We dominated that game. I was so impressed with how much we won thr ball back from them and the quality of pressure.
Hey ho. WDL is ok from first 3

Second week in a row the opposing keeper has been man of the match. Was our best performance of the season despite the result. It's a big shame leaburn messed up his pass to Doc as reckon that would have been a goal and I still don't know why our goal was ruled out4

It’ll mean we win more than enough to stay up. But we’ll also lose some in frustrating fashion too.2 - Sponsored links:

I do not remember Charlton winning so many 50/50 balls in one game before.
Always thought and hoped we would score, deserve to win but would accept draw at the end
There must be easier games in the future where we must learn to score2 -

The foul was for Edwards grabbing their player around the neck. You'd be annoyed if it happened against you & not given. Fouling the player & pulling him out of position left a nice space for Jones to run into & head the ball.10 -

Special mention to the AC stand ball boy who just couldn't be bothered to get off his arse and get the ball back to our players when we are pushing for an equaliser.

Can’t be disappointed with that performance it was impressive against a good Leicester team that were premiership last season. Wonder goal to win it but overall Charlton looked the better side. It was great to hear the crowd even after going behind constantly applauding and getting behind the team. Players were great although Campbell is a bit of a luxury they can’t afford. You need battlers I don’t see him doing that and he is getting found out, but early days plenty of time yet. Keep it going Charlton hopefully we will be ok.1

The missing link today, and indeed in all three games so far is we are missing the "Godden Again" effect, and the relentless running and pressing that he gives us up top, that is clear, now where he is in his recovery from this injury, no-one knows other than Nathan and the club.
It's a real shame that we look toothless up top so far, chances are created, but not taken, I know they had some very fortunate blocks which on at least one occasion had the keeper going the wrong way, but luck just wasn't on our side today.
As I said can't complain on lack of effort, that was in spades, and on another day we could have won this 2 or 3 -1.
We go again next week at Loftus Rd, with a chance of progressing in the league cup midweek, so let's see where we are after those two matches...1 -
Not too disappointed as we played so well and created good chances.
I thought we made poor substitutions. We’ve got such a good bench that you really shouldn’t be leaving it until 70+ minutes to make changes.
It was clear that Miles was shattered and Olaofe should have been on to replace him. Why take off Apter and replace him with TC who was having a poor game?
Ramsay could also hardly walk for the last 15 mins yet he takes off Edwards?
Find it really hard to criticise N. Jones as I love him and respect him so much but I thought he could’ve been more proactive today.3 -
The Leicester goalkeeper was outstanding, as indeed was Choudhury in their defence. I was impressed with how Charlton played and the commitment shown might be enough to keep us up. It will be interesting to see who the "one extra player" Jones intends to sign will be. Looking back, I can't help but think that Powell in 2012-2013 and Bowyer in 2019-2020 both had slightly stronger squads. We don't (yet) have a Kermogant type striker, and haven't brought in on loan players of the calibre of Gallagher and Cullen.1
