Disappointing news. I’ll have a word with the Chancellor next time I see him
As a personal friend of a friend of a friend of Rachel Reeves, you are officially banned from all women's fixtures for 1 week and 2 days.

I genuinely see no issue with this. They are both commercial entities based in South London. I'm not desperate for a frankly 3rd rate academic institution to be loyal to us. I'm sure there are advertisers at The Valley that would also advertise at Selhurst Park, and I doubt the decision makers at Thames Poly are Charlton fans - they are simply seeking to expand opportunities for their students. The biggest win for the student population is surely access to discounted tickets for women's and U21 matches at Selhurst Park (which if I recall is easy to get to and has first class facilities).

I don't know all the ins and outs of the Academy categorisation so might be irrelevant, but is there any chance that a "strategic partnership" with the University of Greenwich could also benefit our application for Tier 1 status in terms of the number of academic teaching hours for academy players?
Don’t know about that, but they own a patch of land surrounding Sparrows Lane don’t they (only know this due a friend inviting me for a coffee round there)

Interested, discussions and now not actually sponsoring. This is starting to sound like the players transfers thread. Next we will find out Greenwich University will be sponsoring Millwall or Thamesmead.
Lets dump Uni of Greenwich (for cheating on us) and encourage the Goldsmiths University to sponsor us (to wind up the spanners)

Slightly insulting, they should be partnering with Croydon College or whatever dump near them
crazy that UoG have partnered with CPFC - having been so engrained in both CAFC and CACT work the last few years!
Why surprised, they now get a degree of Premiership promotion of the University.
for all the talk of 'working with local communities' and the work Charlton do with their students - they now partnered and seemingly placed higher precedence on a club that is almost an hour away - rather than one that is 15mins!

Club have worked with UoG on many schemes and projects, even working with them on training ground/UoG land usage at sparrows.

UoG will now effectively be directing students OUTSIDE the borough, rather than 'just down the road' to The Valley
tbf to them it makes more sense than the University of Portsmouth opening a campus up in East London. Seems University is less about education and more about business in the today’s world.

They’ll probably open a campus in Croydon next.

In terms of them being a local business (there is always cross pollination with businesses making money).

Hasn’t Charlton shared sponsorship with Palace and Millwall before?

I can’t see Millwall fans being wound up about anything to do with academia 😄

Greenwich of course do have a campus in the Medway as well. So expect them to announce a partnership with Gillingham very soon.

I really don’t understand why it’s a strange move or they are idiots - does their partnership with Palace in any way impact on their partnership with us?

  • This is palace trying too hard with the ‘south London and proud’ motto they’re running with. The UofG partnership bollocks isn’t the first instance of this. Their whole promo for the nketiah unveiling was round the corner from me in Deptford outside dolphin tower. To top this, parish done an interview on the BBC from their Beckenham training ground claiming that area ‘is the heart of south London’. They’re a shameless bunch.

Something of an insult though, whatever way you look at it.
  • Not at all, why should the uni limit itself to a single team. Poor business to not run and advertise yourself on the biggest stage. Some people need to grow up and stop crying about it

    Piss poor from Woolwich poly.
Thames Poly as was, at least back in the day when I was a student there. They later invited to me to have my degree cert updated to read UoG instead. I declined.

tbh i don't know why a university would sponsor a football team - sort of makes sense as they r next door to us at avery hill but why they would give money to a team in croydon who are already getting loads of money from tv companies. i have no idea

More marketing = more students = more money.

Tax payer funded institutions invest to generate additional income. It’s basic economics for any business and is often referred to as “marketing”.

Palace still haven't quite got over the fact that we relegated them 20 years ago.

It still eats away at them and they continue to suffer from that memory alone.

The only way they can dissolve the pain is steal our sponsorships....employ Deano....win a few trophies etc.

This whole saga is not actually about palace at all....it is actually about us.

I believe Richard Murrary was brainwashed by a palace cult leader to hire Ian dowie as manager.

Wouldn't surprise me if Simon Jordan was photographed with Roland in 2012 while they exchange a briefcase and a smirk.

I know they have Chelsea this afternoon, but I saw some bloke in gravesend wearing a Palace shirt. It is very rare to see that kind of thing.

It is time to investigate what is really going on here
