After Bristol's win last week against Sheff Utd, normally it would cause their next opponents to look long and hard in how nullify their threat. In Charlton's case, Nathan Jones sets the side up with strength at the back underpinning everything else. I think we can get at least a point, simply because we dont normally make the crazy errors that Sheff Utd seemed determined to make and Bristol as a home side cannot play on the break, hopefully. One thing we must make sure of, is not to give Scott Twine a free kick centrally outside our box, deadly accurate and you might as well hand them a penalty as it has the same expected result.

We have errors in us and this level is much higher . I’m satisfied that we will give our all in every game this season and that the owners have backed us well - it’s all we can ask after most of the last 19 years.
It's our old friend Gerhard Struber at Bristol City now. He's going to make them a proper direct team and there's going to be a lot of similarities between us and them in how we play. In fact, the short vertical passing we showed against Watford is very similar to what City are looking to do, so there's a chance the two teams cancel each other out. It'll be an interesting one for sure.
Also please don't call them Bristol. There are two teams in Bristol and I hate this creeping Americanisation of football fandom where teams get their moniker dropped even if there's multiple teams in the city. Saw it with Sheffield United in the Premier League being referred to as just Sheffield and it's incredibly irritating
I'm sure a large part of their 4-1 win was the lust for revenge and that they came out of the traps faster the United. I don't see why we can't give them a good run for their money. We should fear nobody.
Won’t be watching as (somewhat ironically) I’ll be on a train home from the south west. Don’t think it will be a pretty contest. Neither team will want the ball but the hosts will have to take some initiative otherwise the home fans will get on their backs. Have a feeling we’ll score a late goal on the break to either seal a win or scrape a draw. As others have said, just don’t let Scott Twine have a FK in a half decent area. Ali Maxwell from NTT20 thinks Twine has scored more FK’s than anyone in Europe since 2020
Weather in London, cloudy. Weather in Bristol, sunny. No idea what that means for the game but would advise travelling fans to pack your sunnies, bucket hats and sun cream.
Looking forward to this one but also slightly fearful.

Is the away end in the sun or in the shade ?
Don't know, we are being kept in the dark at the moment.

Front rows of away stand are often blocked off, and you will be facing SE from Goole maps. Kick off at 3pm so I think you'll get some shade. Temps set for 27 centigrade with a warm breeze coming from inland. I'd plan to be hot and take plenty of liquids but likely out of direct sun during the match.

Just seen that the stand opposite is the ‘South stand’ so that basically puts us in the upper north.
Just noticed Chelmsford are at Weston super mare tomorrow. Opportunity to wave at Lyle Taylor perhaps on the m4, unless they're already there and making a weekend of it.
Has he made Chelmsford match day squad. They must be struggling with injuries.
Always a tough place to go and off the back of that 1 - 4 win at Sheffield Utd I think Bristol City will be oozing confidence. I wonder if they will be this year’s surprise package. Keep it tight and don’t concede early and grow into the game will be I think our strategy. Hopefully we’ll come away with something but I suspect we won’t. 2 - 0 to BC.
I don't think it would be a surprise. They got in the play offs last season and have improved their team . Bristol City have been in this division for ages and I think this might be their year. They will probably get in the play offs again and if they keep doing so, eventually they will succeed.
Over the course of the season, we would lose this game but I predicted a good start for us, so I 'm sticking to that with a 1-1 draw. We won't start slipping down to our final finishing place for a month yet.

Like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like. Disrespectful to the other team, in this case Rovers, imo.

What if someone is referring to Sheffield FC though?
I'd like to see at leasr one of our bigger forwars playing as I'm sure Bristol City scouts will have seen some of our playing out from the back last week and spotted it as a weakness. Bell did well on several occasions to keep the ball when under pressure. Mannion on Tuesday played a lot more longer balls to Leaburn and Tanto and we looked more comfortable with this.
At my parents in Gloucester this weekend so in the right part of the world to go to the game. So this afternoon I'll have already beaten the number of away games I went to last season and equalled the season before!
A good start but can we continue? I think City had injuries at the wrong time last season that ruined their play off hopes. They have had a strong start and will expect to beat us. It will be close but I think we might hit our first bump, 2-0 to City.

I agree. Let's always appreciate the pair of Bristols.

City are a very decent side and I’ve been an admirer of Twine since his Swindon days They have started the season well just as they ended last season well and this is going to be a real test

To me, the Championship looks like and has been a very tough division where the stakes have been progressively rising season upon season. The problem with that is it’s not sustainable and at some point down the line clubs will have to take a breather, cut back or face the consequences. I suspect there’s a perfect storm that’s already hit or just about to hit those clubs that have been operating in the division for a while now. Obviously it’s very early days but I still think the three teams that came up have hit the Championship at the right time. We were all relatively strong sides and clubs, we’ve all been able to strengthen well and we are still an unknown factor that the teams we come up against will be thinking we are, basically, inferior football teams they are going to roll over. I think Bristol City are about to get ‘Nathaned’….
I have fears that the very talented Rob Apter will get exposed in his defensive duties when CAFC are against the better Championship sides which seem to include Bristol City after their big revenge win against Sheffield United last week.
It was no problem against Watford as Baah was played on the right against Josh Edwards who relished the battle against the strength of Kwadwo. With Ramsey being able to be flexible and cover any left wide attacks no harm was done and Apter could show his skills from more of a right midfield position and getting around the box to have shots on goals from his strong left foot as well as putting a sweet ball into the box with his right foot that both Jones and Docherty lined up for a shot with Lloyd testing the keeper with Greg ready to shoot with his right foot.
Hopefully I'm just being a tad pessimistic but I definitely want Rob to highlight his talents going forward rather than around the Charlton area.
Thomas Kaminski may have to be MOM for CAFC for us to get a positive result but if we keep our momentum going and Edwards is fit along with Knibbs then we can get a positive result whether a win or more likely a draw.
2-2 and we come back from a losing position with our game changers.

I think we will surprise people this weekend & certainly wont let in 4. Will always take a point away from home at this stage of the season.
1-1.
0-1 Charlton
Jones master-class- we go top and are the talk of the division.
They must be struggling with injuries.
