I couldn't tune in unfortunately. Did they answer anything about the catering?
Loads, basically agreeing it's shit, there's not a magic wand to fix it overnight but Gather and Gather are on borrowed time by the sounds of it. Going to trial pre pouring pints, Bovril and hot chocolate (I kid you not) to try and ease things, also working with Asahi (who own Meantime) to ensure all kiosks and beer lines are fully functioning
    Am I missing something?

They are going to pre pour a hot drink do that it can stand there and get cold?
Ever purchased one? They are the hottest things on the planet for a good 10 minutes, completely undrinkable
Surely then the answer is to turn the temperature down on the hot water ‘urn’ ?
You need boiling water to make tea though.
The implication was the water is far too hot ?
You need hotter water to make tea than you do for Bovril or hot chocolate, the latter two don't have added milk to cool them down. They are then thermonuclear and if bought at half time can't be drunk until NJ makes his subs on about 70 mins
Matter of opinion I guess as to what temperature difference is really needed but if you are being serious that would suggest any catering outlet that serves both hot chocolate and tea always has unhappy chocolate drinkers?

Id be more unhappy if my hot drink turned out to be cold I think.

On balance don’t buy the offering at all is the best option it still seems.
Most cafe's won't serve hot chocolate made with water but will use hot milk, that isn't an option at a football stadium
Yes ok. But those that use hot water I was thinking of.

Just feels like an odd workaround.

Charlotte raising the question about ownership of the Valley and training ground. Gavin describes conversations with the landlord as "encouraging". Possibly looking at use of University of Greenwich areas near the training ground.

    For what?
    Didn't say.
And this is where this type of meeting breaks down.

Get everyone in the same room at the same time. Used to be done before when we could talk to owner and directors and get answers to follow up questions.
  • I thought they all did alright tonight.

With the wafflers Methwen and Elliot missing it was to the point, concise and a lot shorter/quicker.

The club is unrecognisable after so many crap owners. Long may it continue.

Is the meeting available to watch on catch-up?
It was on YouTube mate. Just go to Charlton TV.

No point in watching though, my question weren't even read out

Warwick does give off pre 2010 Tory A list candidate for a seat in the Cotswolds vibe
Oof. Nailed it. Poor old Ed.

Thought that everyone contributed admirably, that aside. I really like Gavin Carter, public speaking isn't his thing, but he's nobody's fool, and one of us. Ideal chairman.

I didn't get a good feeling from Rodwell's answer re the departures, especially of Will Abbott. I was hoping to hear that he'd got a great offer for a prestigious position with an FAPL club, and that he will be missed because he has upped our game so much in this area. I didn't hear any of that.

Yes, the tone of Rodwell's answer was akin to the football fan not caring that their star striker had left as they could replace him easily enough. And that it was everyone around him who were just as important anyway.
  • Thanks for posting the link, really enjoyable watch.

Mixed it up, with a few different people speaking, which was good, and lots of questions asked.

The board know there are issues with the catering, and I hope they can get it sorted out, but it will take time, I’m sure they’ll come up with a plan.

It’s absolutely key, to get things right, on the pitch, and also off it.

So many good things have been done, but if we can get firing on all cylinders, and improve the experience, people will willingly put their hands in their pockets, not like Michael Appleton!

So, other than ‘circumstances’ from Ricky Tomlin, nothing further on the recent exodus from the valley?

All seems very strange to me, none more so than Tracey but also Abbott, 10years at Brighton & after two at Charlton he's looking forward to his new challenge. Although he doesn't appear to currently have a new challenge ? What's the betting the three replacements (if there are three) will be another three of Jones mates. Oh actually two because Hylton has replaced the set piece specialist hasn't he ?

So is Nathan Jones now public enemy number 1?🙄

Ill miss all three of our departures dearly but dear god I hate the speculation
  • Hey everyone Perkalicious coffee bike owner Alex here. After watching the video back on you tube. Im still unclear when I can start trading again at Charlton.  Im still hopefull for the Leicester game.  But nobody has told me anything either way yet. Very very frustrating 😕

Everyone on here is so suspicious, you will be doubting that LeeHarvey Oswald did it next. Did NJ have private discussions on the grassy knoll at Sparrows Lane with all these people by chance?

NJ has been a huge part of why Charlton is a happy and successful place again. Find it bizarre it's now being speculated people who are great at what they do are leaving because of him.

I don't know but I strongly suspect that @raytreacy69 is NOT referring to NJ but instead another senior member of staff based at Sparrows Lane.

He said on the Will Abbott thread it was NJ.

And here in lies the issue.
Until those who are leaving decide to tell us exactly why it’s all stuff and nonsense.
It sounds like every place I’ve ever worked in tbh.

    Always looking for a negative!

Yes and no. When a dozen long serving senior staff left at intervals in 2012-14 it ought to have been a red flag that there was something seriously awry within the club, but there were plenty on here happy to swallow whatever guff was provided and some even invented their own narrative about the likes of Bradshaw and Prothero being a step up.

i don’t suggest this is anything like that, but patterns of behaviour that aren’t obviously explicable or one individual are going to be noticed, especially on the football side. The only immediate question is: will this impact negatively on results, since football staff don’t generally deal with fans directly. It seems unlikely.

Enjoyed that more than the last one, heard more about the football side, which I don’t think there was much of last time.

just watched it - a few of my takes:

Charlotte is very good at what she does and really is Charlton
I like GC, he seems trustworthy and clearly has the club at heart
Jim Rodwell is a confident man wearing them white 'leggings' (liked AFKA's summary - he's well  groomed but with a dour Minor's accent - a strange combo) Says the right stuff, seems to know what he's talking about, is pretty down to earth, seen it all before and has obviously worked very hard over the summer - no reason to dislike him but has a touch of a psycho axe murderer about him - i'm probably being harsh.
Ed Warwick is polished / fabricated with his presentation hand movements and generic bingo speak but fair enough, no issues
Liked Lucy's new hair do - didn't realise she is still doing the role
Lewis Catt - comfortable, decent fan questions

Summary - all seems to be going well, think the backroom departures are no big deal / not about to disrupt everything - let's see where we are in 10 games time - nobody wants to make predictions but we've given ourselves a decent chance

And yes, GC said the millwall game will sell out
