Be interesting to see who are the first choice stand-ins at wing-back if we don't sign anyone else. We have obvious, specialist back-ups in virtually every other position but I can't see it here (without wanting to be greedy).

RWB: 1) Rankin-Costello 2) Ramsay? Not the strongest position for either.

LWB: 1) Bell 2) Fullah? Again not the most natural and requires a reshuffle to current strongest XI if Bell.

I would also add that the incomings in the summer have hopefully saved us from the pit of the January window.  It’s not a good window to do any sort of incoming business in imo.  Injuries aside, the planning that’s gone into the summer will hopefully mean a quiet winter
The age of a lot of our signings should also mean that next summer is much quieter too. Can focus on 2-3 key areas rather than needing to overhaul half the team.

Obviously this is dependent on any of our better players like Ramsay leaving if they have a good season.

Not digging you out in particular Chris but I wish Charlton fans would stop trying to sell Ramsey as it's doing my nut in 🤦🏻‍♂️
Knowing the Cafc fan base they are probably saying that to Kayne !

TC or Leaburn I can accept for a few million if TC can keep improving and Miles can stay injury free but Kayne should have a new long contract with a high escape clause as he is priceless for CAFC.
Charlton fans selling Ramsay is doing your nut in!!!

charlton fans selling Ramsey is doing my nut in

Toddy, after all the years Chuks was at Charlton it was still being written Chucks by quite a few posters !

Charlton fans selling RAMSAY is definitely doing my nut in 🤦🏻‍♂️
I blame autocorrect, I’m very aware it’s ‘Ramsay” and yet looking over my post match comments I posted “Ramsey” at least once because of it.

We’ve absolutely got to sign at least 1 full-back, the fact that Gillesphey or Bell is supposed to cover Edwards is a massive concern. Look at the difference when Small got injured and we had to play Tennai Watson, please don’t make the same mistake Charlton

I don’t think these are major concerns. I’d rather have Costello and Bell in those positions than either of the trialists we had

I think we will continue to play without a right wing back.

How long is his contact with us? Has he effectively left? (If it expires next summer)

Yeah, that will bring him to the end of his contract.

Did Rodwell say anything else of interest?
Not really! Just that we did most of what we wanted to do, missed on a few and that the window is hard. Said we would like to compete in the league (given our manager) rather than just stay up.

said we were after knibbs for a couple of months

Posters rightly excited about Fullah, but Enslin will delight us equally. Can play LB, MF, but best at LWB.

I’m guessing we’ve reached our budget for signings unless someone we really want becomes available and are shoe ins for first eleven. We won’t be spending on “cover”. Perhaps there’s money for a player currently out of contract or a loan if we ship some out first.

Bell at LWB with Gillesphey at LCB looked fine on Saturday. I think we've been coloured by the comments from Luton fans about Bell having lost his zip and not being able to play LB now.

Yes in theory you want bags of experienced cover for every position, but that also means you have senior pros who can't get a game cluttering up the training pitch. AND it blocks the path for youngsters. The likes of Laqeretabua and Enslin have signed long term contracts and are now nearly 20, they deserve a least the chance of some first team football.

Apparently useful with the scissors too. Cuts my brother in law's mum hair. She asked me if I have heard of him yesterday. Strange conversation.

I really hope this is true as it so random; I will be disappointed if you are half cut and this snippet of news isn't kosher. I thought Enslin was a silky player and I hope he creates more highlights while at CAFC.

Thanks, but surely more informative to have a third column for nett expenditure to save us doing the maths.
