"We believe that we’ve made strong additions, perhaps there is still more to come and there is lots of work going on behind the scenes and we’re building a squad that can compete now and grow into the future as well."
How did we manage to get back to being run by credible, serious operators? That is great reading. A world away from those insane and worrying days with Roland.12 -
Surprised Tennai Watson’s still without a club
Edit: Oops6 -
Golfie is entitled to his opinion the same as everybody, whether you agree doesn't matter a jot. Harmless stuff Ronnie writes? On his own admission his comments are purposely aimed at winding people up & in any case, any "attacks" on Ronnie are in the main imo, fairly light hearted.Danny Addick said:Bit shocked at the Hermantor pile-on - I would agree with him calling out Golfie’s whining. Then again, I’d also agree with the person who said just ignore it (I skip past anything he writes with 95% success usually). I think Golfie gets an easy ride on here considering how miserable and negative his contributions are but people are happy to regularly attack the harmless stuff Ronnie writes. It doesn’t make sense to me but then it’s all about opinions and mine is just one!1 -
Not expecting anything for a little while.Scoham said:Gavin Carter suggesting there may be more signings. There’s a link to the full talksport interview in the article.

Might use the first game or two to see how we shape up.
If we get battered every game, I can see us making some panic signings on deadline day.3 -
January window perhaps, when we sign a free transfer?Henry Irving said:

How nice to be able to buy the club handbook tomorrow, knowing that nearly all our new signings will be featured, rather than several arriving after it's produced.12

Listening to Chris Davis, the Birmingham manager, he was asked about targets and areas of improvement that he wanted during the transfer window. One area he wanted to address was the quality of delivery into the box. I'm assuming by this he meant quality from open play, free kicks and corners.
Having watched most of our pre season friendlies, this is still a concern for me, especially from dead ball situations. Not sure we have improved in this area during the transfer window.
We don't seem to have any player that can whip in an accurate cross, at pace, from a corner or free kick. Hoping to be proved wrong.1 -
Don't think so.CoveredEndAndy said:

Apter looks like he’s got a decent delivery. Do agree it’s maybe a concern though as we will need to score plenty from set piecesaltrinchamaddick said:Listening to Chris Davis, the Birmingham manager, he was asked about targets and areas of improvement that he wanted during the transfer window. Can it be deemed a panic buy if there are already plan in place for that possibility a month or more in advance?SELR_addicks said:Might use the first game or two to see how we shape up.

That's a shirt to wear if you're going out for a jog in failing light, or just generally a bit worried about getting lost in a crowd.Scoham said:https://farnboroughfc.co.uk/2025/08/bower-loaned-to-boro/Toby Bower’s joined Farnborough in the NLS on a half season loan.
Though I have to say O'Neill's kit is pretty good, even if it is manufactured in Strabane (the place where I have to stick things when people kindly suggest I put them where the Sun doesn't shine)...2 -

I can definitely see this being possible, I wouldn't be overly impressed if he was signing as a first choice player but for cover/competition he's pretty decent, and the fact we've kept him on this long would suggest that Jones sees at least potential for something there.chev said:
He would be a Championship Tennai Watson for me - perfectly serviceable as a squad player but probably not making the first 11 barring injury or suspension.3 -
I hadn't realised he was 20 already. Some players are late developers of course, but to get to 20 without playing any senior football is quite surprising.Scoham said:https://farnboroughfc.co.uk/2025/08/bower-loaned-to-boro/Toby Bower’s joined Farnborough in the NLS on a half season loan.0 -
I must admit I find it strange that we've had a player in on trial whilst they're still contracted to another club7
-
He have a fair few 20 year olds in our youth setup who haven’t come close to the main squad yet. I would expect most of them will be released next summer unless they play themselves into consideration as a fringe contributorkillerandflash said:

True. But they would have done had we not been promoted and set the bar higher.Bostonaddick said:

Wolves are desperate to offload him have 5 rbs already not the greatest financially and guessing there’s no other clubs interested in him after most clubs in L1 L2 would have their squads ready by the new season and he failed at L1 level. Any chance to give him to us they would takesam3110 said:I must admit I find it strange that we've had a player in on trial whilst they're still contracted to another club4 -
Maybe Wolves would give us a fee to take him?6

If we wouldn't make the purchase if we were decent, I would call it a panic buy still yes.randy andy said:

Like the break glass in case of emergency signings.0 -

Nathan will make the final decision, but Big Phil or another scout thought he was worth a trial then I trust their judgement. I didn't watch any of the friendlies so I can't give my expert opinion !
Bennett has moved on from his trial, Asimiiwe is out on loan so we are a tad short.

As he is in the last year of his contract , I wonder if Wolves might subsidise a year's loan to us. Then it could be like an extended trial and we could give him a contract if it works out.
It feels ironic that Tennai Watson is going to Barnsley where he was on loan last season0
