So close. Great effort from those two.

Stokes instead of Bethell and we get that one over the line.

Bollocks, drew the series almost certainly due to Woakes dislocating his shoulder.

Bringing seam bowlers into a test match with virtually no red ball bowling all season is as irresponsible as it is lunatic.
All seasoned by Pope's negligible experience as a captain.
England's chances of avoiding defeat lie largely with the weather plus India's occasional tendency to self-destruct.
    Another series win tossed away.
When minerals have been required India's young inexperienced squad has delivered.
    Brains over bravado every time.
Mohammed Siraj the man of the series by a distance

We said here that Siraj would bowl him. What a series. Great courage from Woakes. Draw is a fair result overall for the series though it grates a bit to say it. Delighted I managed to see a day’s play at Lords.

Indeed. Siraj's drop was crucial but not, ultimately, as much as the half a dozen we shelled.

Fitting that Siraj gets a 5fer. 2-2 is a fair result when you consider the closeness of the 3rd and 5th tests, one we won, one they won.

Thought that was well handled by DK but would’ve been good for us to know it would be translated after!

The way it worked out, India got the best batting day, Saturday. Been gloomy and very bowling friendly yesterday evening and this morning.

    Brook’s fault.

Magnificent series and 2-2 a very fair result despite the missed opportunities. Could have easily gone either way.

Siraj is a monster of a player.

  • Brook’s fault.
It's a good point. He took risks to get us into a winning position, but I, too, felt he took an unnecessary risk as we were putting huge pressure on a despondent Indian side. However, not entirely his fault when six catches were missed.

Genuinely top 5 most dislikeable sportsmen currently for me . Don't care that he's a " competitor"

Woakes can't have a runner either so that rules 2s out of the question.
Why is this? Isn’t it dangerous for him to run?
I’m sure Inzamam once had a runner just because he was a fat bastard?
    😂
It's because of Inzy that the Laws were changed!!!!

I was referring to his bowling, not his character. We wouldn't consider him a bellend if he played for England, or at the very worst he would be 'our bellend'.
The needle between the two sides added greatly to the series, and we all loved Crawley's shithousery to deny another over before stumps - which I'm sure lead to a lot of Indian supporters calling him a bellend :)

Poor effort by Smith this morning. If you get a good one to bowl you (Tongue and Atkinson) or a rough LBW decision (Overton) then that happens, but he flirted with 3 wide ones, nicking the 3rd.

Feel gutted but every test was close.
The best drama I've seen for years but with a sad ending for us English folk.

Nightmare situation for Atkinson as he couldn't even give Woakes one ball to face as it would have been too dangerous for Chris.

You would love Siraj if he's on your side but want to kick his butt when he's on the opposition.

The Desmond was a fair result for the series but who wanted fair when you are desperate to win.

Victory for test cricket in England and just remember for you Indian haters that if that was against the nice New Zealanders it just wouldn't have had the same edge in a five match test series.

Which is why NZ only get a 3 match test series.

Can't agree with that. Not only did we chuck this test away, we also only had 10 men. If Woakes hadn't got injured we'd have won.

What a finish. Didn't help the flurry of runs for the last wicket by India. What test cricket is all about.

Not sure how Brook got the England player of the series, when Root scored more runs than him, and Stokes was excellent with bat and ball.
