I can't imagine Kanu's wages would be much different from Asiimwe's?Scoham said:The Wimbledon FM researcher has said Asiimwe will definitely be their first choice RWB. Also said Kanu rumbled on for ages, looked done, but seems to have fallen through. Mentioned they don't tend to pay above £3k for players so I wonder if that was an issue with Kanu.0 -
It’s surely in our interest to get Kanu out to Wimbledon. Decent club, local, perfect level for him at this point in his development, excellent manager who he already knows. Even paying 90% of his wages is worth it for us because of the perfect development it’ll give him. As said above he can’t be on much.Scoham said:The Wimbledon FM researcher has said Asiimwe will definitely be their first choice RWB. I would imagine he or Mbick will be reluctantly loaned out at least until January to give them plenty of game time but it depends upon what our final transfer dealings are and how we get on in those first few games, particularly the Stevenage match now we don’t have the EFL trophy matches to utilise.Scoham said:The Wimbledon FM researcher has said Asiimwe will definitely be their first choice RWB. maybe that was what was behind the discussion and Johnnie’s pensive expression the other night

Pretty sure JJ is thinking, "I wonder if I can persuade Tracey to come to Wimbledon!"letthegoodtimesroll said:

Watching Wimbledon's press with him Asiimwe is am absolute unit of a man. I've always liked the look of him (as a player, not just physically) and think this is a very good step for him. I expect him back next season a better player and contending for a place in the first team. I think part of why we haven't signed a long term right footed RWB is to make room for him to grow into the role.6

Don’t disagree with the rest but that is a ridiculous suggestion. Jones will be pursuing the best possible team he can for the immediate present and the fact there might be a future option in years to come for one of those positions will have next to zero bearing on his recruitment strategy for the 25/26 season ahead of us in which Asiimwe is likely to play no role whatsoever.SDAddick said:Watching Wimbledon's press with him Asiimwe is am absolute unit of a man. The key for Asiimwe to continue to develop is improving his defensive positioning and decision making. We all know his skill in the attack but he is way too lax in his defensive duties. It improved at Walsall but still a weak point.2

He's young and will improve- he needs to play regularly and I hope he gets that at Wimbledon.Bostonaddick said:The key for Asiimwe to continue to develop is improving his defensive positioning and decision making. They’re away to Luton tonight, so a good chance to see Asiimwe up against some future signings.14

This is the sort of loan we need to be doing. League One with a real pathway into our first team down the line. Kanu and Mbick both need this too and it will only benefit us if one or all of them make the progression we hope.1

Feels crazy for L1 and L2 to start on the 1st AugustScoham said:They’re away to Luton tonight, so a good chance to see Asiimwe up against some future signings.3 -
They have all those Vertue trophy games to fit in.0
-
He’s been given the no. 2 shirt there.4

He starts tonight away at Luton.5

Big show of faith for Jacko to throw him straight into the starting XI without having played any of their pre season games5
-
Thought he’s looked really good - always rated him tbh2
-
Great block from him just then, the Commentators seem to love his performance0

Asiimwe learning some stuff from the "Kayne Ramsay School of Hard Blocks" there1

Looks solid. Very impressed0
-
Shame for Wimbledon, they've not really been troubled, but the defender HAD to do something with that beautiful pass, else Woodrow was on it0
-
Done for the build up to the goal.3
-
Wonder if we'll make an offer for Luton's goalscorer?3
-
I was at the game and, maybe I am biased, but I thought he was the best player on the pitch today.
The Dons fans around me were raving about him as well.8 -
Walters for Luton was impressive in a RWB position and Asiimwe had a good debut in the same position for JJ's side.
I felt relief that we are above this level now !2 -
I thought he was bang average, as were everyone else in a pretty dire game.3
-
He put in a really good shift. I think he tired a little, not surprising given how little 90 minute action he’s had in the off season but his crossing was really dangerous, his passing and interceptions were excellent. Definitely didn’t deserve to be on the losing side tonight.4
