a rarity, able to cross and pass well with both feet, excellent, though 'highlights' packages never show the errors (excuse my slight cynicism)
I think that’s fair. Asiimwe has always shown ability on the ball and looks big, strong and quick enough to play for the first team. The questions are more around his defending and consistency which needed to be tested out on loan, but his highlights aren’t going to tell us how much progress he’s made.
perhaps he would be more at home in a Campbell type role, though I believe he has yet to score a first team goal ? .. we should keep him
In no way should a RB/RWB be playing as a striker. He’s good going forward but he’s definitely not an attacker
so what's 'going forward' if it's not attacking ?
Small’s role as a very attacking wing back.
THAT is attacking, you just typed it lol .. from the clips above, admittedly in L2, he looks to be putting better crosses into the box WITH BOTH FEET than either Small or Campbell have done this season
Anyway, I've had enough of answering silly splitting hairs comments

Small also has to track back and defend as a back five and like Asiimwe isn’t going become a striker.
TC and Small would also look like great crossers with both feet if their best crosses were put together in a video.
Be good to see him get a league 1 loan next season
Hopefully we'll see a few more youngster go out on loan now we're a League higher
After all wasnt it the Academy Manager who said at a recent CAST or Bromley meeting, that they dont like loaning kids below the National League, because then they dont sustain the fitness levels we set them

Yeah I remember reading that, and I’m sure Asiimwe’s loan to Hartlepool was the only non-league loan we saw this season and I assume they’re still full time.
NJ tends to play with a front two so I think we’ll start with the same system and NJ will adapt and change if necessary. Whether TC is in our starting 11 when the season kicks off will partly depend on who we bring in.

Nathan Asiimwe has signed a new contract and joined Sky Bet League One side AFC Wimbledon on a season-long loan.
The academy graduate has put pen-to-paper on a deal that runs until 2027, with a club option of a further year.
Asiimwe, who enjoyed loan spells at Hartlepool United and Walsall last season, now links up with the newly-promoted Wombles, managed by Addicks legend Johnnie Jackson.
Manager Nathan Jones said: "We're delighted that Nathan's signed a new contract. He's a young player that's come through the academy and he's one that we hope ends up in our first-team.
"Last season he had a wonderful test and got to a play-off final with Walsall during what was a real productive loan spell. We feel that the best thing for his development now is to go to a League One team and he's done that with Wimbledon. We obviously know Johnnie [Jackson] so it's a club that we trust and we know that he's going into a good place."
I think everyone doubting him is forgetting the lad is only 20. Look at Apter for example who has had a similar path non-league, league two, league one, he is 22. More than enough time for him to develop, get better and become a very good player. No reason to think if he carries on he can't be a good championship player in 2-3 years time.
Really sensible business again, echo what others have said.
If you look at his profile, he really fits that modern wing back style, seems comfortable on both feet, fairly quick. Asiimwe could develop into a really decent player.
Think Wimbledon is a really good move who play 5 at the back and just lost a few fullbacks, would like to see him play 40+ games there.
Same as Kanu, would be really curious to see how Kanu does as the main striker in a league 1 side. If I'm being greedy, I think that's where Karoy should be as well, consistently playing in a league 1 side and getting the minutes in. Think all 3 of those could be players if things go right for them.
I hope this works for him and Charlton, he has not really progressed in the last 12 months. So lets hope this kick starts the progress.
The reason he did not progress at Charlton was that Ramsay and Small were automatic choices in his two best positions, RWB and RCB, so he never got a look in. Given his chance at Walsall he did very well.
This looks like a good move all round. I like the way Nathan plays once he gets warmed up, he is not a dud, but a player that can be an asset to anybody if deployed well.
A great place for him to be. Newly promoted side with JJ as manager. Who better as a manager to trust our young players with when away from Charlton? Nice and local for Asiimwee too. I hope he pushes on again and does really well for them.
The Wimbledon FM researcher has said Asiimwe will definitely be their first choice RWB. Also said Kanu rumbled on for ages, looked done, but seems to have fallen through. Mentioned they don't tend to pay above £3k for players so I wonder if that was an issue with Kanu.

His previous contract was until 2026 with a 1 year option, so a 1 year extension and I assume a rise.
If he improves and comes back a better player it's a win win situation
Contract also protects us if he really pushes on and we want him as part of our first team.
He has the potential to progress, just down to him to see if he can do it and if so how quickly.
Hopefully Kanu joins him there, could help them settle in.

He has progressed in that he has now played half a season as a regular in league 2.
He impressed enough to have been picked up by a league 1 club so he has every chance of further progression.
He's also won himself a new, extended contract, a sign that the club rate him.
Well done Nathan and hope you do well at AFCW.
