Justifying our big spending, didn't Richard Murray say something along the lines that it was' vital Charlton stayed in the Prem'?
We all know how that turned out.Oggy Red said:The Red Robin said:Bedsaddick said:Talal said:ForeverAddickted said:NabySarr said:Is this the most we’ve ever spent in a transfer window? Or do the PL days beat it

Kelman and Godden will mainly share game time with Charlie playing more minutes than Matty who at 34 will be used sparingly but still a vital cog in the Charlton revival.
It's great that we have so many options when/if all the squad is mainly all fit.
The 16 players for CAFC who get game time during the normal 100 minutes match time are all important whether they start or on the bench to be game changers or come on to hold on to a winning positions or if we are under the cosh, drawing positions.
Plus the 4 players who don't get the nod are primed and ready from minute one in case.
Big squad effort needed this season to consolidate in the Championship.5 -

One of the differences is that we are finally an attractive club to sign for. It was a hard sell when we were widely acknowledged as a basket case. Players will now be keen to join us instead of needing their arms twisted or desperately seeking a club. Of course there are plenty of other attractive clubs in the Championship but our dealings so far all help to set the tone.42

It's quite good that if a defence has managed to deal with Leaburn and Kelman for 60-65 minutes, then we can bring Olaofe and Godden off the bench. Some very decent options for us.

Murray made the decision to make the managerial change immediately, rather than have a manager who was running down his contract.

I wonder how many targets we've missed out on, because they've opted to go elsewhere... Galbraith or Woodman are the only ones I can really think of... Am sure there will be others, because the player opted to go elsewhere, stay where they are, or we just couldn't afford.
Just feels that everything has gone too well for us this Window... and Knibbs will opt to go to Wrexham and be the deal that clip our wings ever so slightly.
Come on Charlton, where is the customary kick in the bollocks!!0 -

So @Henry Irving or @RonnieMoore who do I believe? Both share such trustworthy knowledge.16

Curbs had no say after he left.
Dowie had too much say, signing players from agents he was "mates" with. I wonder why?
M Bent was never on £22k a week. I still have the spreadsheet of the wages from that time at home somewhere. No one was on that much.2 - Sponsored links:

I’m guessing it’s Knibbs or Donley and not both. Surely Spurs wouldn’t want to send Donley here if we had Berry, Carey, Knibbs and potentially TC as competition. They’ll want him to have guaranteed game time13

If we have a "decent" season, we'll go into next season having to worry about losing any outgoings that we choose to sell. But otherwise it'll be primarily about strengthening further.14 -

Not only are we not relying on loans, the contract lengths are mostly 3 & 4 years....which means we aren't having to churn 7 or 8 players every season like we have been doing for the past half a dozen seasons.28
