I think he could well be a good signing for us but that fee if true is over the top.
Is it though? In today's market... a 23 year old who just scored 27 goals last season. How much did brentfors pay for Tony and market has gone bonkers since
He has 1 year left on his contract and has had 1 good season in his career.
I’m not saying he’s not a good signing, I actually think he’s a very good player and I’m glad we’re getting him but 3.5 upfront is too much in my opinion. I’d have expected it to be more like 2 mill upfront with add ons.

How nice is it to be having a debate about us overpaying for players after spunking 9 million 🤣

Oh absolutely 😂
We owe QPR after we had their pants down getting 2 million for Bonne
Kelman delivered a standout season at League One level, both in volume (21 league goals) and efficiency (goal involvement). Even with a step up to the Championship and adjustment under Nathan Jones’s system, expecting 12–13 goals in his first season seems entirely credible. If he overperforms his underlying metrics—as many young forwards do—then even higher returns are plausible - I'm in agreement with AI and I very much doubt it's 3.5 million, maybe 3.5 with the add ons.
It has always puzzled me why people are so concerned with the fee. It’s not my money so I couldn’t care less.
It's still the club's money though, and the club's losses in the accounts and fair play calculations.
I'm not saying this will happen with our owners, but there are plenty of examples of owners spending shed loads of money on signings which haven't worked, then either getting fed up with the losses and drastically cutting back, or even worse turning off the tap completely.
Got in the car to leave Myrtle Beach a fan of Charlton Athletic.
Arrive 4 hours later in Savannah GA the fan of some club who has Fabrizo Romano giving the old Here We Go for a £5m striker and strong rumours we are following it up with a £1.8m attacking midfielder taking our spending this summer up over £10m.
My 17 year old son has genuinely just started giving it the big un to his Spurs supporting mate.
Flight of the Navigator was filmed near here. I think I may have had my own moment where 15 years has passed and I’ve been whisked off to space by aliens and missed it all cos this is nuts.
Would be surprised if Wycombe even got £4m offered for Kone after the second half of the season he had under Dodds. Bet they regret not taking the Luton deal that was on the table in Jan now.
On the fee, what would be realistic for someone who’s scored 20+ in the Championship? It could easily be £10m+. No player scored that many league goals at his level last season.
We paid about £1.5m for Tanto and he only scored 8 league goals last season.
Apter’s had one good season at L1 level and the rumoured fee is £2m or so.
Strikers generally cost the most and these sort of fees are the reality of competing at this level.
Also worth remembering Birmingham paid £15m with £5m in add ons for Stansfield when he had 21 league 1 goals to his name.

Fair point that. Arguably Stansfield will have as much to prove as Kelman

The fee they paid for Stansfield was ridiculous, but he played in the PL with Fulham, also played for England U21s and scored 12 goals in the Championship on loan for Birmingham the season before they bought him.

It's only worth the money if we bring in players who can deliver the ball to him. From the video posted earlier a lot of his goals were like Godden's.....balls played over the top to run onto or poachers goals inside the box. A striker is only as good as the service provided to him.
Still need another CM imo. I’d be worried if Coventry got a long term injury.
I’m sure someone will be along to suggest that Terry Taylor (who wasn’t good enough for us in League One), or that someone like Bell or Zach Mitchell who aren’t defensive midfielders are good enough to cover Coventry in the Championship
Provided Coventry does not get injured in the near future, Terry Taylor should become available to cover for him. Alternatively, Amari'i Bell or Zach Mitchell could play there.
The real answer is Greg Docherty. Played there today and was one of our best players.

when will it stop lol
Withdrawn due to transfer speculation last min , absolutely no links to us that I can find anywhere. I suspect he's off to Boro
Can kiss goodbye to any slim hope of a sell on fee in this window then.
