Where’s this? I shared some clips in the u18s or u21s thread last season, showed outstanding close control and he was in the England u15s squad.

Huge shame if it happens but it’s what EPPP was designed to do - easily move players into the category 1 academies where on paper they receive the best coaching at the best facilities. Great for England team, terrible for us.

It’s all over Twitter. Mate of mine who’s an Arsenal fan asked me about him.

He is one of my mates at school. He has lots of offers from premier league clubs but he is leaning towards Wolves or Brighton.
Tell him to stay with us lol More first team opportunities
I’m still trying to convince him 😂😂
Kick him in the shins so he fails any potential medical?

I know that Rodwell did say last night about still 1or2 more incomings, and probably some outgoings, that's the part that is concerning me, who is on their way out?, think we may all be in for a shock or two on that subject...🤦‍♂️

Jones has confirmed in the latest Substack post by Cawley that Ahadme has signed for The National Railway Museum in York, for 12 months as a janitor.

To quote a line from Blackadder, "He'll probably get swept away with all the other turds"...🙄

I don't think it'll be a shock with outgoings. Kanu and Ahadme out on loan, possibly Ahadme sold if it can be arranged.

Who are the one or two you are concerned are going?

Barring the loss of Small, which I think was going to happen regardless of whether we went up or not, I’m really pleased that we’re in a position to be able to sort out our incomings without having to rely on getting people out the door first (or funds in).

Not to say we may not lose someone that we, as fans, would not want to go. But it feels like a position of some strength that we haven’t had for many years.

I don’t really see what shocks that could be other than Ramsay which just doesn’t really make sense. We’ve just signed up Jones and Leaburn on a long term deal.

Potentially Campbell if he’s said he’s not signing a new contract, but Jones has been so glowing in his praise for him and he came on so well with him last year.

Docherty possibly if he thinks he isn’t going to make the step up.

Genuinely the only person who I would be gutted to lose who’s not just signed a new contract is Ramsay and he’s so suited to how Jones wants to play, unless it’s silly money, I can’t see it.

Not ITK in any way mate, but could possibly see Ramsay, Godden, TC, just an established fans favourite, I hope I am wrong, but we are spending a lot of dosh on some good players, and the squad is getting big, something has to give surely...
  • The one bit of a trade that I wonder about is trading Godden for someone younger at a hefty fee. It would make sense and would be a sort of repeat of the Alfie May situation last season. However, I have zero evidence of this.

Find it quite uncomfortable that a few times it’s been said that we should sign Fukuda because other Japanese players have performed well. He might be great, he might be crap, neither of those things will be because he’s Japanese
You are absolutely right, he might be great, he might be crap. But why on earth does the general consensus that Japanese players tend to adapt well to English football make you feel 'quite uncomfortable'?

It's just a thought that's all. It's like saying South American players adapt better to Spanish football than in England.

Personally don’t think we will lose anyone that we don’t want to lose. Be silly to sell anyone we think can play at this level, as they will be worth more next summer after proving it

I would hate to lose Ramsay and Jones. The rest I'm not too bothered about.

Why worried … won’t be anyone that’s part of the first team …. It will be players like Kanu , Asiimwe , AMitchell ,AMB , Fuller,

I think we will only lose players if the replacement incoming is guaranteed to be better/offer more than the player departing. The club, management, ownership and fanbase seem to be in alignment (relief…!)

Because that isn’t how it’s been framed. It’s been “I hope we sign him because I saw X player at Coventry and they were good at this and that” rather than your point at the end

I think the point of the comment further up, is that with a large number of Japanese players coming over to the UK and Europe, and being very successful, the risk of a player not settling does feel greatly reduced from say 20 years ago. The infrastructure is now in place to ease the transition, and there will be more fellow countrymen to talk to.

It's the same with young British players going to Germany. 20 years ago German clubs would have been wary of whether they could adapt, now they're all looking for the next Sancho or Jude Bellingham. Ditto Italian clubs looking for the next Lookman.

I think you are reading too much into my post - yes I could of reeled of a number of asian players and their success, work rate and energy - but I only mentioned sakamoto because he is a current example of a Japanese player who sprang to mind of being successful in the championship.

Again an english player may adapt well or not into the style of NJ teams - who knows? that's the beauty of football.

If we did, although I've not seen any indication we are, it would surely be for 15-20x what we paid for him.

I won’t say any more because it’s clogging up the thread but I have seen a few people mention things not just you. I wasn’t trying to accuse anyone of anything which is why I didn’t quote any posts or mention anyone in particular.
