Burstow would be a meh signing if we were still in League 1 let alone the Championship. If he's a genuine option I'd rather keep DK around.

    Rather keep Chuks

People saying we still need to sign pace in the attack.

We're getting Jofra Archer aren't we?
    Jeffrey Archer?

    Wouldn't cost a penny more

Agreed - although he’d count towards the homegrown quota.

Tempted to believe Cawley that we aren't really in for Miller but who knows at this stage

I heard a rumour but not my usual sources. We have shown interest in Hayden Mullins, lives locally to me in Hove

I just don't see the fit with Miller. We've already brought in Burke and JRC.

That's why I don't believe it. Feel like we enquired before we knew Burke could 100% come in

Could further support the idea that JRC is competition for Docherty initially.

No one will be signing him this window if this is true.

Think he is, think Apter is the RWB with Ramsay for more defensively minded games

Although Burstow would seem like a strange one I can just about see some sense in it. He’s obviously been pushed around since he left us and didn’t set either Sunderland or Hull on fire but he’s actually still only 21 (not 22 for a few weeks yet). Got 50 Championship appearances under his belt. 30 last season for Hull and probably irrelevant but two Premier League games for Chelsea. I doubt he’s quite as bad as some people are making out here. Young enough to learn because he’s obviously got something about him to get 30 games last year and 20 the year before in the league where we’ve been absent from for five years. If Jones thinks he’s a relatively cheap bargain who he can bring on then it might actually be a shrewd bit of business. People will argue we have Kanu and Mbick but I’d think he’s well ahead of those two. Still think it’s a strange one but the more I think about it the less strange it becomes.

Miller would only make sense if Ramsay was going to play wingback and Burke projected starter at rcb but wanting cover due to Burkes injury record. Also means Apter unlikely to play wingback but rather a different role.  If he signs,  that neither of the Mitchell boys are in the first team plans

Hibs medical staff are only saying it’s a contact injury and should be back playing in a couple of weeks … they admitted they can’t hold on to him after he has impressed .. he salary is 2k a week

To be fair, Nixon did have the story on Costello, so maybe he has a good source within Blackburn who might know we have trumped them for Miller.

All we can do is wait and see with this one (as always), I like the sound of him from what I have read from Hibs fans, sounds like he would suit us.

If Ramsey is playing RWB then we do need a RCB because of Burke injury record. Perhaps Miller is seen as cover for both positions.

Does anyone know if the Nixon piece says he’s coming to us? Or does it say he’s out for two months? Or, heaven forbid, both?!

Blackburn fan Nathan Jones has deleted that, though Alan Nixon has quoted it.

Sounds like he’s injured so won’t be going anywhere. Nixon has a deserved bad reputation but he is usually quite well connected and reliable for the North-West clubs

Seems like the Blackburn pulling out bit probably does have legs, the Charlton being favourites bit maybe less so

Good way to get Nixon’s Substack for free, just misquote every story and wait for him to correct it on Twitter

Agreed. Local lad, by far his best spell in football was with us.

Just the sort of cheap signing who could turn things around back in his comfort zone.

Kanu needs a season on loan in L1,  Mbick is a kid who needs to learn his trade in the U21s.

I just don’t think he offers us anything we are lacking in our current options

He did play out on the left wing for Hull last season, so would maybe suit that hybrid LW/ST role but we have TC and Olaofe for that already

My question would be what does he bring that we actually need? He's not especially rapid nor does he have lots of tricks or footwork (which Dixon, TC, Apter all provide to different extents), he's not really a big strong guy who could cause problems with direct physical play (like Leaburn or Olaofe in their own ways) and he's not a particularly lethal finisher nor has he shown a proper Jonesian passion for pressing (a la Godden.)

He seems a bit Jack of All Trades which we don't really need.

I’d say Burstow would bring potential. Hull are skint and we might get Burstow for a very knockdown fee. If and it’s a big if NJ sees Burstow as a worthwhile project then why not.

If Burstow is cheap & isn't a looking to be an instant impact signing for us, I think most of us would be ok with that, as there is talent there somewhere, and he's still young.

If it blocks the way of a more consistent player then I wouldn't want us to get him.

    Either way, Jones knows best.

I think we need to wait a season before we can bet on speculative punts on players like Burstow. Get a couple of good championship level players like Smith and Windass in, help us consolidate then next year take a look
