The Alan Curbishley quote about not being too loyal looks like it might play out.
To my mind the players who themselves loyally bought into the NJ approach and won us promotion might have to face a new reality.
Dare I say it, even the wonderful Lloyd Jones might have his position under threat, the same with all the others.
I believe NJ will approach this season as a fresh start and tell the players they have to accept it is competition for places next season however wonderfully they did last season.
The safest player is probably Kaminsky, but with the squad that is building the old saying about being the first name on the team sheet is going to be tested.
I wonder who the absolute talismanic player is going to be next season. I wouldn’t say it was Captain Greg Docherty last season.

2 Prem Loans and 1 more Permanent.

    LWB cover for Edwards
CM option (Donley would be perfect)
    Striker (to replace Ahadme)
    1. Enslin? TC?
    2. Maybe. We have quite a lot in the position now though and I think Anderson is poised for a breakout season
    3. We have more up front than it may seem. Any striker we bring in has to be significantly better than say Mbick
Enslin is unproven, TC would be a waste at LWB. Need cover for Coventry and I’d say that unless Mbick has the greatest pre-season of his life then we’ll need a lot more than him

Is there a case for Taylor being the Coventry cover? Young talented midfielder who saved a L1 club from relegation last season, the sort of new signing ;) we'd be all over

Think he's out until January so would need cover until then if that were the case

Would be gobsmacked if Taylor is still here, hasn’t impressed in League One when he’s rarely fit, so just can’t see him being used at all this season

Isn’t he injured and out for a while? Even if he wasn’t, I doubt he’s in NJs plans.

With JRC coming in though, I think we may see him or Docherty cover for Coventry.

Docherty can play that position, think JRC can, Burke can, and Z Mitchell hasn't left the building

Not to clutch at straws but why does it put it to bed. He’s not come out said it’s a no go, just not one he’s heard about
Well if its not been put to bed then at the very least it's gone for a little nap. If Cawley hasn't heard anything at all then it seems fair to assume it's either very early or just not a goer.

We're probably not signing Carey and DKD in the same window. Sorry if this disappoints

If Enslin wasn't ready to start games in L1 last season, or even be on the bench- the champ is a massive jump. TC cannot play full back.
CM - We only have Cov, Berry, Docherty, Anderson, JRC, Carey. We play 3, so 2 injuries and we have 1sub. We lacked quality on the ball in the midfield last season, we bypasssed them in most games.
ST - Mbick should go on loan. Kanu and Ahadme not good enough.

    Just my opinion.

If we bring a striker in he needs to be better than all our strikers imo otherwise it's pointless.

My Cobblers supporting friend said that Taylor was loved there, they thought he was a superb and all wanted him back. Shame he got injured

With the strength of the championship we need 2 solid players in each position and if the results aren't going well we will see NJ chop and change I'd expect.

This window has been far beyond my expectations - we are setting ourselves up in a genuine and sustainable fashion - smart buys, intelligent thinking.

There's a little bit of me that thinks we could do slightly better than anticipated -

I'd love a surprise opener where we bloody Watford's nose and let the league know - Charlton's back.
  • Got to be loans now just to bolster numbers, another Rb, a prem midfielder/striker and a lb would be ideal

    When are we announcing Keillor-Dunn?
I suspect the prospect of signing DKD is receding at a rate of knots. Cawleys comment yesterday certainly didn’t suggest to me we were deep in negotiations. Barnsley don’t want him to go, the player is seemingly attached to living in the north and then there’s the small fee that’s being bandied about. I suspect that CAFC made an enquiry and were told the price. We said we’ll be in touch and that’s as far as it got. In any case bringing in someone for a large amount where there are serious doubts as to whether he’d settle is a big risk. I just can’t see it happening. We still need to find someone though.
  • Either Cam Humphries or Jamie Donerly, in the midfield position would be good

Wouldn’t be too sure. He’s back out on the grass so wouldn’t be totally surprised if he moves on in this window.

100% agree SHG. There's too many bits with DKD that just make me think it's a non starter. I still expect another attacking player in for a good fee but I don't think it's him.

If he's out on the grass now I could see a deadline day move back to Northampton being feasible if he doesn't have any setbacks.

All in early has to be good and a marked change on recent years.

The question now is who is exiting. You’d think there has to be some transfers out to offset the spend based on previous comments.

I know it’s easy to assume Ahadme but there has to be a willing buyer and Leaburn recovery not fully assured yet.

Just curious as to who leaves as you’d assume not any of those  at the training camp. Or was the  retained list /let go list how they balance the books?

    Outgoings
    Mannion or AMB
    Z.Mitchell or A.Mitchell
    Taylor
    Kanu, Mbick Ahadme

    Incomings
    LWB
    CM
    ST

Think that’s the most likely scenario. Think the incomings only happen if we can find clubs for a lot of these players though

@Tangerine how’s Albie getting on for you lot in your opinion?

He’s a cheeky chappy is Albie and the fans love him for it.took him a bit of time to settle in which is understandable considering it was his first proper move away from home,he was ridiculously consistent last season, has a goal in him and can pick that pass out many can’t at this level.

Is he replaceable? I’d say so but I’d much prefer him here than not.

He’s heading to the end of his contract here now but we have a 12 month option which will 100% be activated,I’d be surprised if contract talks aren’t taking place to extend.Bruce loves him.

Albie... Albie Morgan... Short fella, speaks with a London accent... You sure you're talking about the same fella?

Jokes aside, glad to hear that he's doing well, felt the opinion on here that he was League Two at best was a bit exaggerated

Just a CF to replace the hapless Ahadme, and I reckon we're done with incomings.

I don't think he'll move down here if his family are settled up north

Just had a trawl through quite a few hamp club forums, pretty much all unanimous in agreement that were doing quite a good bit of business and under the radar ( with the exception of Wrexham who for some reason think none of our signings get in their team and it's the calibre of player they would expect to sign in league 1
