The club change for the approach on 18 will be a decision that haunts Tommy for years to come3

Gutted for our Tommy but just goes to show despite having multiple worldwide wins under his belt, the pressure to win your first USPGA title is immense1

Feel so sorry for Fleetwood but no one will be more gutted than him. As for Bradley, I'm just amazed he's captain and not playing. In 15 events this season, he's missed one cut, had 5 top 10 places including yesterday's win and is 5th ranked US player in the FedExCup. At 39, he's four years younger than Justin Rose was when he last played in the Ryder Cup.0

I have no idea why he was made captain, I suspect a peacemeal offering the Netflix filmed snub at last one.Personally I think he she defer it and concentrate on playing.I like Bradley btw, it’s not his fault he gets all the ‘USA’ dickheads0

Good win for Dan Brown this weekend almost a year from he came to the scene on the Open. Almost always something happens for a reason with his close friend passing away last week.0

Pádraig Harrington starts with a birdie in the Open, to lead.2

That said, 6 of the first 9 have now bogeyed the first. Unusually difficult hole given the fact that it is easy to go out of bounds. Not one for the nervous starter.0

I found this the hardest of the Open venues, though we don't have the OOB on the first hole. It has so many perched, repelling greens and false fronts which are tough to hold in the wind - for amateurs anyway.
In hindsight it felt obvious a ball striker and short game savant like Lowry would win there.
I have picked Rahm to win. He seems like the old Rahm again and Scheffler's been giving off bad vibes when talking recently, plus he doesn't seem to love links golf yet.2 - Sponsored links:

Bump
Rory's not helping himself with having a touch of the lefts. Need to keep it on the fairway to have a chance.
Also nice to see Dechambeau struggle. Maybe he should use clubs with different length shafts & not try to belt the ball 400 yards off every tee.2 -
Interesting first day. Currently over 30 players within 3 of the lead.

Two, for me, incredible stats.
Rory McIlroy hit just two fairways yesterday - less than anyone else - and still recorded 1 under. Mickleson would be proud of that.
Adam Scott has now played in 97 consecutive Majors - his first was the Open in 2001 at Royal Lytham. Only the GOAT, Jack Nicklaus, with 146 between 1962 and 1998, has a better record. When one thinks of the influencing factors of form but, more to the point, the level of fitness and commitment required for that to happen. And he only had his 45th birthday two days ago.

Scotty is probably my favourite golfer over the past 20 years.2 -

This is what he has said
“I think the rules and the etiquette of the game prepared me for life a little bit. You get some bad bounces occasionally and there’s not much you can do about it. You have to prepare yourself for the next shot, whether that’s in life or golf, and do the best you can.”
As for being down to earth and a man of the people, he formed the Adam Scott Foundation, some 20 years ago at the age of 25, which supports disadvantaged and underprivileged youth by providing educational scholarships to disadvantaged, remote and indigenous students.

Super day at Portrush. Saw this group’s triple birdie on 13 and avoided a soaking.Agree with comments above though re the pace of play - taking best part of six hours for a round is crazy.4

Scheffler is like a machine - plays such controlled golf.3

Can easily see him getting to double figures when it comes to winning Majors.1 -
This is gonna be pretty boring today unless someone goes out early, shoots 62 just as the weather turns to a monsoon and hurricane1
