Jimmy Floyd in KFC, now there's a surprise.

I’ve mentioned him a few times, Davis Keillor-Dunn. He increasingly looks closer and closer to going to Charlton, although I’m led to believe that Parky is still very much keeping tabs on that situation. My counter to that would be that they’ve known the price for a while £2.5m-£3m.

“If you really wanted to Davis Keillor-Dunn, you could have got that done by now.”

Oxford fans think he's heading to them
Wasn’t it rumoured there was one player deciding between us and another club whilst Costello was also visiting the club. Potentially DKD deciding between us and Oxford although can’t see us dropping 2.5M on one player
Agree, that’s a lot of money to spend on a player turning 28 in Nov. I like us spending money but that seems like a frivolous way to spend it
If he produces moments of class that keep us in the division it can be as frivelous as it wants to be.
Our owners get ridiculed for not spending money, but if a rumour comes out that they might do, then that gets moaned about. FFS

I wonder if they thought a bullet also came from the grassy knoll or the rough Golfie, which is more your expertise 🙄

Would imagine it's DKD or Aptor and not both. Different positions but money wise would be very expensive to get both
After the signings and contract extensions we’ve made so far I wouldn’t rule anything out just yet. The owners will have seen the payoff their fellow countrymen got from backing Birmingham and Wrexham last season, they will have seen what Nathan achieved and they will have seen the potential that the play offs and Wembley showcased. I think there is an opportunity to make the play offs again this season, it’s a tough league but it’s also very tough for everyone else in it and everyone will have their own specific problems to deal with. I’m just starting to (really) believe we could be going for it this season.
Making the play offs again sorry but I can't see it at all there are teams who are willing to spend twice as much or more on one player than we have so far unless we get in some George best type loans and a couple of proven or exciting players even staying in this division will be a tough task I'd bet on us finishing 1-5 places above the drop all things going well with the current set up.
Definitely a tough ask and our squad is weaker than others but not all teams have the momentum and togetherness we have, plus Nathan Jones.

All this chat of us having signed lots of defenders.  We needed them and I would suggest we still need two more.  Squad currently looks something like the below to me...which means a RWB is absolute priority but another LB, CAM and Striker certainly wouldn't go amiss.

I am still hoping for 3 real stand out players in those positions who elevate the whole team to another level but I am likely being greedy.

                                   Kaminski

                                    Mannion

    New.        Ramsey.    Jones.   Gillesphey    Edwards

                         TC                  Godden

                        Dixon                   New

    Assimwe, Kanu, M'bick, Casey

    Taylor, AMB, Ahadme

Controversial opinion, as it is, I think this team struggles
It’s not gonna be easy but I still think we’ll finish around mid table, surprised people haven’t mentioned Portsmouth being weak this season I don’t think their team is all that. I still think we’ll bring in another 4 by the end of the window as we’ll have 3/4 leave.
Disagree big time on the mid table finish. This league is relentless and currently I think we have a strong league one team.

Do agree on Portsmouth, they go down next season for me.

I agree and that's the underlying hope I think we all have in the set up and management to get the best out of what we have just like most fans I want the best for the club and if we could get a few more in to ease the pressure and give us something extra in the final third more than welcome.

Have Pompey signed anyone bar one Aussie striker? I don't think having Colby Bishop fit for the whole season after his heart issues is going to be enough to keep them out of trouble. They're going to need exceptional home form
  • Oxford have just signed a bloke from the Eredivse for £5m I doubt they have the sort of financial clout to spend big again. Also the player they bought is a midfielder so that may give indication that they are not in the market for another

They’ve made one signing, lost Atkinson and Potts from loan deals who were 2 of their 5 best players this season. Factor in Murphy, and Lang having freak seasons by their usual standards it’s going to be hard for them to replicate that form. Obviously everything can change by the end of the transfer window but at the moment Portsmouth definitely look like a big contender to go down

Ultimately we just to make sure we aren't relegated even if its one place above! I think the squad is shaping up nicely and would put us to finish anywhere in the 12th to 16th places.

As good as DKD would be I also fear a repeat of Charlie Kirk - just on a larger scale. If we went for him I would expect a lot of due diligence on his personality and assurances he could handle the move down here.

In theory it shouldn’t be a big factor but we’ve seen it before with certain players who tend to stick to a region
Is JRC the first really never played down south signing we've made so far? Obviously have the Luton 3 , Carey is from Norwich originally, Tanto is a Lewisham lad.

Made me laugh when I saw Malik Wilks leave Yorkshire for Turkey in terms of players that stick firmly to one area.

I'd fully expect Chapple and NJ to be all over any character stuff, I remember SCP talking about how detailed he was about a players background because he wanted to make sure anyone he signed would fit in.
    Josh Edwards?
You could quickly see from his involvement in the videos in Slovenia last season that he was fitting in very well and a bit different to Charlie Kirk.  I dare say we already knew he had a good temperament before the move, but this confirmed it

They’ve got a really good manager though which helps (so do we). Ideally when sacking season starts someone pinches Mousinho and then I could see them being in big trouble

Right now Hull, Wednesday we likely finish above. Portsmouth and Wrexham we would at this moment but would be surprised if they don’t strengthen as they’ve done almost nothing so far. Then arguably we can compete with Preston, Stoke, Oxford, Watford and Derby’s squad. Think there’s an argument for us finishing around midtable but reckon 17th-21st is more realistic

I agree. So far we have been upgrading a decent league one squad. Happy with the signings, but let’s not get carried away, 17th-21st would be great.
There are some big clubs in the Championship, spending money with squads who are already established in this league.

Really positive right now that we will stay up, but I don’t see it being pretty. I really don’t see us pushing anywhere near the top half come the end of the season.

Agreed, I think some people are forgetting how hard and relentless the Championship is.

I'd be ecstatic with mid table, very happy with any form of comfortable survival.

Yeah I get that but also I guess it means how far do we ultimately want to go in the division with the final goal being promotion surely.Just surviving would point to a team that still needs massive changes but time will tell and we will know more when we are tested.Hopefully it's a team that will grow with youth and stick together in some capacity if successful I just think to go up to premiership nowadays would take big money to which teams like Birmingham are the template but that's down to what the owners want and what their ambitions are.

I agree with your rationale but not your conclusion.

We have lower championship squad which should have enough  to be one step ahead of the relegation battle.

anything above 16th will be a success

                                    Mannion

    New.        Ramsey.    Jones.   Gillesphey    Edwards

Z Mitchell   Burke  A Mitchell.     Bell.              new

                       Coventry.       Rankin Costello

                       Docherty.          Anderson

                                       Carey

                                  Berry/New

                       Olaofe.             Leaburn

                         TC                  Godden

                        Dixon                   New

Would make a squad of 25 v's a match day squad of 20 so allow for 5 injuries/off form.

The drop will be between Oxford, Hull, Pompey and Sheff Wed. I think we'll be comfortable and end up around 16th/17th.

Unless Wrexham start pulling some more signings out of the bag I reckon they will also be in the mix. Their style of football was functional rather than spectacular.

All this chat of us having signed lots of defenders.  We needed them and I would suggest we still need two more.  Squad currently looks something like the below to me...which means a RWB is absolute priority but another LB, CAM and Striker certainly wouldn't go amiss.

Phil Parkinson when he was a pundit for the play offs said no doubt Wrexham and Charlton would be looking at the same sort of players in the window if Charlton win the final. That doesn't seem to be the case so far.
