I wonder if CDM cover could be a veteran type signing on a free? As long as NJ doesn't sign Pelly Ruddock-Mpanzu who wasn't even good enough for Rotherham last season .
Think we’ll keep Terry Taylor instead
I think TT is staying anyway because he's injured or at least until Jan. Doubt we'll see him in the league unless there's a major emergency.

Enslin, Fuller, Asiimwe, Anderson, M'Bick, Z Mitchell, Kanu, Dixon.

All young players that I think the staff will be debating whether good enough to start, to be on the bench, to be in the reserves/U21 or loan.

Slightly different but similar conversations about A Mitchell, Taylor and Ahadme.

Enslin is an interesting one with his versatility. I think Dixon and Anderson of that list Henry has posted are the only ones I'd have absolute certainty of being around and involved opening day.

I think that will be a short debate. None are. So it's basically a question of who can be backup and who to loan. Add Asiimwe to that list as well.

    Not so sure.

And as I said it isn't just whether they start or not but what role they have.

    Have added Asiimwe.

You've forgotten Asiimwe, lot of talk about us needing two RWB's on here.

But I won't be surprised if he makes a name for himself as at least the backup during Pre-Season.

Having watched him for Walsall (albeit in League Two), I won't be surprised if he's kept around. I mean some spoke about the potential for Imray to step up from Palace on loan, but could argue our own player had a more successful season.

Think Asiimwe, Mitchell will be kept around for the Stevenage game at the very least. Enslin, Fuller, M'Bick I reckon will remain U21s, with them appearing sporadically; Dixon, I just dont know with him, feel he's a dark horse.

A year ago it was being suggested that Karoy needed a League Two loan.

Its also worth remembering that we've got no idea how these kids have progressed over the summer.

We've had 17-year olds pushing their way into Championship sides for us, we've had players like Arter and Gunter who have regressed, instead of being the experience that we've thought we needed - Player improvement, or the reverse is something none of us can predict.

I'd be surprised if any bar Anderson are good enough to start, but think some will surprise us. It comes to the stage where the Manager has to be brave, and give the kids an opportunity... Else they'll never know, and I think Jones is brave enough to do it without being stupid.

I have a hunch that Kai Enslin is going to be a bit of a star player, but he needs to break into the team first.  I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the Small role, of an attacking right wing back.  I think he's good enough, quick enough, and has an eye for goal too.

Anderson I have no doubt will stay and get plenty of first team minutes, whether he becomes a regular is up to him.

Kanu loaned out seems an obvious one at his age, TC and Olaofe are ahead of him and Dixon may overtake him.

Asiimwe may stay as RWB cover given he’s had experience out on loan and we probably won’t sign two RWBs. Another loan wouldn’t be a surprise depending who we bring in though.

Z Mitchell possibly depends what happens with A Mitchell.

I can see Mbick and Fullah staying as they’re only 18, more u21 football for them with some time on the first team bench.

A loan wouldn’t be a surprise for Enslin, but neither would staying here being versatile and left footed. He even had the odd game at LCB in the u21s last season. I do see a bit of Johnnie Jackson in him with the work rate and solid all round game.

Mwamba was also at Wembley, but another who’s only 18 so I can see him getting more u21 football.

I can see Enslin being the LWB back up (think he’s played there before? maybe @Scoham might know), just would be a problem if Edwards gets a serious injury in September

Things with this age group is sure one or two will progress much further than expected and really make a name for themselves – Tyreece Campbell style.

Others will fall short of expectations, or even regress.

Before last season, I thought Daniel Kanu was nailed on to start a lot more game time and hit 10+ goals. I was very wrong!

Good old pre-season! When fans are happy that an inexperienced and untried academy player can be first-choice backup. The lengthy match reports of pre-season games accompanied by player ratings is when it gets really interesting!!

Would be surprised if it's not a CM. NJ had Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall on loan from Leicester in his Luton midfield the second time around. Think any loans he brings in will be starters and not to gap fill like McIntyre.

Donley would be nice... But he probably doesn't like the way that we play Football, whilst thinking we're a bunch of vile fans

Would expect Donley to be a late move , Thomas Frank will keep someone like him for most of preseason to get a look at him.

Yeah he regularly played LWB at u21 level, sometimes CM and as I said above covered at LCB very occasionally.

One of the best and most consistent players at that level, I think he’s been a bit underestimated with a lot of focus on Dixon (as an exciting pacey striker, international and signing) and Mbick (due to his first team minutes).

Fullah’s one to look out for too.

Agree, he looks great, but obvs still a lot of development to come. Grealish type of player.

Interesting that virtually no one’s wish list includes a LWB when we only have Edwards capable of playing there. Ideally we need someone like Watson who can cover both sides
    Bell can play that role

My gut feeling is Ahadme and Alex Mitchell will remain in and around the squad.
I just don't see NJ writing them off, I think they will play out their contracts.

Or it could mean that a current Luton player doesn’t have to fly home from Slovenia.

I’d have preferred a Trapdoor intro that actually has a Burke in it 🙄

When we play a 'local Slovenian' team there, then we'll know it's actually Luton Town 🙂
