Totally agree re the EFL they are terrified of taking on a so called big club ! In this case they have broken the rules to the detriment of other clubs for years and got away with it and it has to stop. The only organisation worse imo is the EPL0

Less than a month to go until the start of season and still no points deduction for them and other transgressors. The EFL really isn't fit for purpose.6

I hope they get taken over as it is terrible when clubs go out of bussiness. We are all football fans and find a way to hate each other when we have a lot in common. Yes, Sheffield Wednesday have a lot of bellends as fans, but so do all clubs, including ourselves. I hate Palace and Millwall because that is my job as a Charlton fan but I do know some very decent Palace and Millwall fans.
It is difficult to see a take over completing before the end of the transfer window so they are going down this season. But they can come back if it happens rather than disappear.4 -

I think The EFL are giving Wednesday as much time as possible to try and get a meaningful sale negotiation underway before the season starts. I don’t see though how financial guarantees would be forthcoming from a buyer until DD is complete which isn’t going to happen between now and August 9th. Unless of course a lot has been going on with a sale in complete secrecy which seems unlikely. Hard not to see a points deduction being given and I guess the question is just how big. Twelve is my guess. The bigger question is when do The EFL demand guarantees as to finances enough to complete the season. If the club remains in the hands of the current owner it’s hard to see such guarantees being made or believed. A lot to happen all in four weeks unless of course The EFL bottle it and allow Wednesday to start the season without the money to complete it.0

As a potential buyer I would be worried about what skeletons are in the books with someone like Chansiri. Even if someone agreed a deal this week you'd be tight to get it done for the end of the transfer window even with the best lawyers etc9

Looking like Gassama is on his way to Rangers. Probably on a knock down fee so that Chansiri has a few quid to stop some of the players who have handed in their notice from leaving for nothing.0

Talk of Americans in talks with Chansiri which is good news for them but time is against saving this season I would think.0

Even if a deal was agreed today, they'd have just under 8 weeks to complete DD, get approved by the EFL, clear the debts and then make signings. Seems a pretty tough task.2 -

I imagine it will be all done & dusted by the end of the month, a whole load of players signed before the transfer window shuts & SW end up safe in mid table.2 - Sponsored links:

I hope any sale falls through. Their fans are the worst by far. Every single one of them seems to be up for fighting all and sundry. I’ve had conversations with Leeds and Birmingham fans but Sheffield Wednesday are a different scummy breed.

My impression of them is not positive, and furthermore I seem to be in a minority that thinks Hillsborough is a shitty ground.
I hope Rohl's return gives them false hope.0 -

St Andrews 1987 play-offs, Leeds and the Zulus were not very pleasant, on another level to Wednesday methinks.

As for their fans - Proper scummy.2 -

I hope Roln's return gives them false hope.Probably more akin to The Valley when the Glikstens did the bare minimum to keep it going than any comparison today.3 -
I suspect they are fucked. Labour looking like it’s going to introduce a 2% wealth tax on assets of £10 million or more could well put the kibosh on buying a football club. Imagine owning a a club valued at £50 million that not only doesn’t pay any dividends but also actually costs you a small fortune to keep going each year and then being told you owe HMRC 2% of the the value of the asset. I doubt any club will get sold until there is more clarity of that particular tax.2
