At this point complaining about the rumours thread having other discussions and no rumours on it is more of a cliche than there not being any rumours

Well I did ask in the restaurant about Mathias Ross, @fenaddick, and I really should have got my order in first as it took Petr the owner about 10 minutes to describe how bad he was🤣 Very light for a centre back, which they could have lived with in the Czech League, except that he didnt have pace to compensate, and was extremely vulnerable to a ball over the top. Said that against an ugly old- fashioned English style striker like Tomaš Chory (now at Slavia)  it would have been a massacre, but he was spared that as he was always on the bench for those games.
Petr says he read that he still had a year on his contract at Galatasaray, but they cancelled it and so he’s a free agent.

Happy to delete this after a short while, before anyone from Preston reads it 🤣
I was concerned about his pace once I checked his cards on fifa and football manager etc. Not saying those games are completely true, but they're never too far off.

Will add the pace of Mathias compared to our similar sized centre backs as bench marks

    Spoilers to not clog:

And what’s his pace on FM? We all know FM is more accurate than FIFA…
    https://fminside.net/players/4-fm-24/27132246-mathias-ross

For some reason this site converts FM ratings to a 0-99 scale but they have this guy as Pace 60 - which would be a Football Manager 12.

Comparatively, they have Lloyd Jones at 11, Gillesphey at 11 and Alex Mitchell at 11.

    GK - Shea
    RWB- Bree
    RCB - Lockyer
    CCB - Burke
    LCB- Naismith
    LWB- Bell
    CDM- A.Campbell
    CM- Mpanzu
    CM- Lansbury
    ST- Adebayo
    ST- Cornick

This was the main lineup NJ took to 6th in the championship in his last full season before joining us.

People wanting flair and creativity it’s not gonna happen based on his football, that is the most defensive and structured side you will ever get at this level. Not a single midfielder finished in  Luton’s top 5 for assists that year. As well as that Luton ranked 23rd for Possession and passes that season as well as 18th for SOT per game and still finished in the playoffs.

There’s a difference between needing and wanting more attacking creativity we don’t need creativity because of who we have in charge and how he plays he’s proven he can do it without having that playmaker in the team

Interesting that Burke was in that Luton side.

Sounds like we need to sign Chory

He has been most of his career at my team (Viktoria Plzen), a very late developer (now 30). I used to think he'd be a good signing for an English Championship club, but he is a bit of a knob on the pitch, and possibly off it too if you believe some tweets.

by "bit of a knob" do you mean that he is always erect or suffers from the occasional droop in form?

I asked Nathan about Mathias Ross and he said it's not happening as he prefers Merlot or Shiraz.

Not sure who either plays for but didn't ask as didn't want to look silly.
I've heard he's interested in Brazilian midfielder Prosecco

IF we talking about the same player, I thought Prosecco was Italian?  :D

John Swift must be worth a deal for a year or two.

Not a player, but NJ is thinking of adding to his backroom staff the former Newcastle coach John Cava.

  • Any actual rumours.....?

    Thought not.

See you all tomorrow for another day of discussing line ups, ex players we should sign, Luton players (past & present) we should sign and finally just about anyone who can kick a ball....that we should sign.
I love the rumours thread at this time of year, it’s like Test Match Special when rain interrupts play, so much more entertaining. I love the jokes, opinions and the occasional rumour, even Golfie’s moaning about lack of strikers/signings have a familiar charm. Never change CL rumours thread, never change.
