  • Ramsay Burke Jones Bell Edwards as a back 5 don’t mind the look of that to be fair
Edwards aside the rest have all suffered from lengthy spells on the sidelines the last 2/3 seasons. Just doesn’t sit right with me.
  • Was there talk of the Watford Righback a few windows ago Ngakia, looks like he played a fair bit last season but maybe worth a look?

Good to see money spent and some significant early signings. Birmingham as expected have done the same.

Hollywood have signed Hardie £500k - £700k and a relegated Leicester 3rd choice keeper on a free  despite being linked with every has been over 30.

To not start the season with Ramsey, Jones and Macca would seem strange to me as that was our strength and the main reason we kept clean sheets.
It's hardly being too loyal to let the successful players start with the shirt.
If Jones feels Kaminski is a better option straight away then fine as well as new midfielders but the 3 CB's were our main strength. Luton did just get relegated to League one so are Bell and possibly Burke better than what we have ?

Think Watford only buy from and sell to Udinese.

I do think that being in the Championship will mean we need a more defensive RWB and KR fits that role. I’m confident not a lot of wingers will be able to get the better of him. We need a RWB who can deal with the likes of Mavididi, Osayi-Samuel etc. It’s a key position and I think Jones knows he can trust KR there, hence the Burke link.
Feel like Ramsey is definitely the right option for RWB in some games. But definitely want the option of a more attacking one in games we want to go for it. Think Fevrier would be the perfect person for that.

I am loath to post rumours on here, because if they don’t turn up signing you get some stick. Take this anyway you want but I heard Reece Burke was at the training ground last week.
The whole of the Luton squad were at our training ground last week, so that NJ could choose which ones he wanted to sign. It saves time.
Rather that than when it was Swindon

    Kaminsky Mannion
    Ramsay NEW
    NEW (Burke) Mitchell
    Jones Mitchell
    Gillesphey Bell
    Edwards NEW
    Coventry NEW
    Docherty Anderson
    Carey Berry
    Olaofe Campbell
    Godden Leaburn

Is the minimum we still need, ideally we need 2 more attacking players on top of that, and move along Taylor, Maynard-Brewer and Ahadme permanently and Asiimwe, Kanu and MBick on loans.

I'd want an experienced attacking midfielder/winger, and an out and out striker, both with a lot of pace. The wingbacks we'd need players who aren't afraid of getting forward and crossing the ball, but can have a pop at goal too. Burke as the 6th CB makes sense if we keep him fit, but if he's not available for 30% of the games we'd need the RWB to be class so there's no qualms about playing them and shifting Ramsay to RCB

Really don't like the signing of Burke, look across his whole career and he has never managed 40 games in a season. Typically manages around the 20 mark.

Can't see his wages being too cheap cause of his experience, and he can't be expected to start 40 games as he has never managed it (please don't say Dr Will Abbott)

This is the first link to me that seems a bit lazy and a tad unimaginative. Surely we should be aiming for a player who is of genuine quality and be ready to play every game.

If he was a 40 game player, I wouldn't even say anything, but we should be past this now. Would rather see a younger up and coming player who has played a lot.

Burke or Ramsey are not the answer at RWB

We got Chappell and Dane in to get Luton players? How about some proper scouting for once ?
I imagine a big part of why we're getting Luton players is because they've just suffered consecutive relegations and have committed their Premier League money on a new £450m stadium. They've got good Championship players with Premier League experience who play a similar style to us and are struggling for cash, so we can get good players at good prices and still have money left over for more signings. Why would we not pick them apart?
It’s not so much as picking them apart and more a case of them having to offload as many higher wage earners as quickly as possible so they can rebuild given they’ve just crashed from the PL down to L1 in successive seasons. From Nathan’s perspective, he will know these players and they will know him. If you are going to build a winning team then that’s a great place to start from.

No-one's saying Burke would play RWB, and Ramsay is a RWB by trade, so I don't get the sentiment

On the other hand Lloydy was a fitness concern before he signed and even though he has had periods of being out, he has been fantastic.

Each to their own, but I am expecting more from the scouting team here. If he signs that's 3 ex- Luton players in. I obviously rate 1 and think the other is going to potentially good for us, but it just doesn't seem the best idea signing multiple players from a team that just went down.

I trust Jones and Dr Will, but can't say I'm personally ecstatic with Bell and Burke.

Only able to conclude once our entire summer deals are complete, though.

The raiding of Luton last year wasn't really a success, Campbell was a dud, Potts and Hylton too, Lualua before that, only Berry has been decent

His wages are around 13K at Luton so won’t be a problem valued around 1.5 mill and as played over 320 games in his career mainly centre back but can play both right or left back roles

Then you look at a Wrexham breaking their transfer record for Notts Forest midfielder who played just 17 games in 3 years !!!!!

I'm not mad about Burke, complete trust in Dr.Will whilst not being a miracle worker you'd imagine he has some kind of say in transfers if we intend to operate on lean squads. Also means we can focus on those last few pieces of the puzzle, CM, ST & hopefully a RWB who can offer us something different to Ramsay going forward. A supplementary loan or two at the end of the window and think we're looking in decent enough shape

I see it more akin to when Leicester went down and all their players stayed in the Prem - Luton and that Leicester side should never have gone down and had good players, so why not get some of them in.

Ramsay is much better at RCB than he is at RWB in my opinion. Without him our back line lacks pace. I think Burke can come in as an option for CB and RCB but would still like to see us bring in a new starting RWB that is better going forward than Ramsay is for our first 11

When you have one of the lower budgets in the league, which we do, you often end up with a choice of a league 1 player that’s available every week or a championship quality player that isn’t.

I think our recruitment is dipping into both of those, experienced championship quality players that can play every game will not sign for us, they’ll have better offers, so if we want to add good championship experience then we will have to take a couple of gambles
