Not bothered by Wellens comments about “Charlton style of football”. Call it whatever style you like. One style is now in the champ, and th other is in L1.

I’d rather win ugly, than lose playing beautiful stuff.
They don’t even play beautiful stuff, hardly created a chance in the 3 games against them (excluding the cup)

I’d much rather Brad Hills. Younger, less injury prone and will have a future sell on value.
Agree, but would also like a slice of Pye ...
Pye is available but we have made no approach

Question for everyone. If we were to sign another CB, would you prefer Burke, Hills or Pye?

Hills for me. Also the least likely to be possible on a permanent deal.

I’m not so sure. Norwich have strengthened considerably at CH over the summer and like all clubs need to balance the books. Could see them letting Hills leave but insisting on a big sell on percentage to cover themselves.

Hills , Burke too injury prone for my liking and Pye is another left footer.

Burke I know he has his injury problems but when fit he’s the best out of the 3. Also much more financially smart than the other 2 as you’re investing in the players they can become rather than the ones right now and the price probably doesn’t reflect their current ability whereas for Burke it would. Also don’t want to shut off Z.Mitchell’s path completely for the future by buying another young cb

    Offiah to Preston now confirmed
I wonder what went wrong with it. For the story to reach Cawley, you'd think we must've been fairly confident of landing him.
Preston have more money would be my guess.
According to the BBC they offered more than one million pounds for his contract. Which will mean he is getting a large salary as well.

Think i'll put a wedge on Orient getting relegated this season, they are shot now player wise and by the sounds of it mentally...
They have just broken their own transfer record for a player. On the BBC website.

They obviously believe he will make a big difference, and they were a good league 1 outfit last season. We did well beating them.

We beat them 3 times. Don't think they were anything that special. I'm pretty sure 95% of the fanbase were pleased that they reached the play-off final over Stockport. And let's not forget they actually employ Clare, Jaiyesimi & REG which is actually quite laughable personally.

Orient were an average team last season who scraped into the playoffs on the final day of the season primarily off the backs of some good loans, who they don't have anymore, they will be lucky to scrape mid table next year imo...

No chance Orient reach the play offs again next season. First they have to replace all the players they had on loan and sold, they have to get there recruitment spot on just to have a chance to compete.

Then they're up against Luton, Plymouth, Cardiff and I would expect Bolton, Huddersfield, Barnsley and Reading to be in the mix too. At best Wycombe and Stockport might knock on the door again but I don't see any of the losing play off teams being certainties for the top six, I wouldn't have expected us to make it either if we'd lose to Orient.

Burke & Hills are right footed & would compete with Ramsey & Jones (rather than Gillesphey & Bell on the left)
We need more bodies in the door, so I’d actually opt for Burke & Hare.

Mentioned on here a couple of times as a player a few would like, myself included, but sadly Aasgard signed for Rangers this afternoon. Apparently a £3.5m fee.

Very strange. Seems like the move to Rennes went sour very, very quickly which is a real surprise given how good he was for Celtic, including in the UCL games 🤷🏻‍♂️

No point in selling Alex Mitchell, because you probably have to pay 2x the amount to bring someone else in just to do the same job as being cover. We bring in one more CB we have 6 which should be enough. Ideally want someone experienced and in their prime opposed to Brad Hills who has potential otherwise what on earth is Z.Mitchell doing at Charlton
It’s quite clear that he is simply not good enough, why let him run his contract down and us not get any fee whatsoever for him? Not a good business decision
He’s got a touch of the dark arts about his play, needs a bit of extra work TBF but in cases of need that is an attribute we need in our armoury, more so this coming season especially now we are in the Championship.
  • He will tear the champ apart, looked class at Celtic

The selection of pictures and gifs in that Twitter thread are an education in their own right. I am puzzled by a couple. Remind me of prison culture (which I would visit in a working capacity from time to time).

I’d need to see Pye’s chart before I could make a decision.

Some fans, including me, are a bit gutted we didn’t get Galbraith.
