Indeed. Mendonca missed a penalty for us in a league cup game against QPR as well so in my option that is what he should be remembered for.JoshAddick said:Really wish we hadn’t have signed Yann Kermorgant after that penalty miss in the play offs for Leicester…9 -
Maybe Walton and Woolfenden as he fits the bill most for a CB if it's Ipswich. They also have Elkan Baggott 22 year old left footed CB who I wouldn't be surprised if we are after but he does not fit the lots of championship and some prem appearances brief.MarcusH26 said:

Shush - careless talk and all that.6 -
Woolfenden would fit the bill! Elkan Baggott I'd expect they'd keep as depth , at some stage he's got to break through there unless they get a big offer.nagAddick said:

Tanto is a really good signing imo. Offers something we genuinely don't have which is pure pace and power, closest to him we have is TC but Tanto is quicker and stronger. Scope to improve as well.
Would be happy with that and it's a nice start. Really liked among Stockport fans, they won't be happy.7 -

Unforgiveable miss in the last seconds of injury time v Orient, at 1min 30 -blazes over so missing out on Wembley

And before anyone says but he scored a great goal to equalise. That was a back flick cross that just happened to go in.
Big no thanks from me. Offload him somewhere else Stockport.16 -

We don't have millions to spend on a striker so you could argue that any striker we sign is going to be a bit of a punt. And even then you don't know for certain, Millwall broke their transfer record for a striker and he only got 5 goals in 20 games for them last season, and 5 goals in 21 the year before for Middlesbrough. So even at that money he's probably still a punt.ShootersHillGuru said:Olaofe still looks to me like a bit of a punt. Has the right credentials but unproven for where we are. Much like Carey really although the latter has played at Championship level. I sincerely hope that some of our signings are going to have a better Championship profile than those two.

Ipswich or Luton seems more likely to me than a club like Bournemouth, as wages might not be out of our budget if they're on contracts signed in L1 or the Championship.Callumcafc said:

Bournemouth paid a big fee for Mepham and were in the PL at the time, so his wage demands could be well above our budget. Also he's out of contract so I don't think that fits the description of negotiating with his club?3 -

How much of a Championship record does Ramsay have then? Because he's one that most of us agree is Championship standard but he's never played there before.ShootersHillGuru said:Seems I’ve taken some some stick for suggesting that Olaofe is a bit of a punt. That’s fair enough. It’s a football forum. For those of you that have said I’ve written him off. Why exactly is saying in my opinion he’s a bit of a punt, writing him off. He could be great and hope he is. My main point was that I’m hoping that we are also in the hunt for more experienced Championship players with a good track record at that level. I agree that top league one is where we’ll find most gems but I’m also hoping for a bit more.
I think that "Championship experience" is often overrated as a quality in a player. I'm not dismissing it entirely but Coventry is arguably a better player overall than Doherty but hasn't got anywhere near the experience of Championship football, for instance.
Jones' model and method is fundamentally about a team that is more than the sum of it's parts and I think we need to have faith in he and Chapell to choose the players he thinks are part of that.2 -

If he’s said it’s some premiership experience but a lot of championship you would expect it to be one of the yo-yo clubs who have spent just the one year in the prem Based on the availability of certain players, wages etc it has to be Ipswich. Walton and Woolfenden perfectly fit that criteria and are players which would make sense in a NJ systemDizzle said:When Pav says league club, I assumed he meant EFL and not from a Prem team4 -

I wonder if this could be Carl Rushworth and Erin Cashin at Brighton? All fair points, it probably is a stretch to get both permanently. Mepham was linked with Sheff Utd by our friend Nixon earlier in the window.Scoham said:

Also he's out of contract so I don't think that fits the description of negotiating with his club? However Mepham has signed a one year extension with Bournemouth a few weeks ago. Bournemouth fans believe it’s so that they can get a fee from a Championship club (or back to Sunderland?) for him.2 -
Shareholder of another league club here at Glasto = season-ticket holder3

What left footed CBs could fit the description? That's the obvious gap in our back three.
0 -
Doesn’t necessarily have to be a left footed Cb always the possibility Ramsay can be moved back to RWB and we play a more structured style this season which we will probably be forced to do more coming up against better sides. Would explain why with the very few links we’ve had like mbengue and Offiah who are right sided centrebacks rather than out and out wingbacksScoham said:What left footed CBs could fit the description? Maybe, but it could also be that the names of the WBs we're looking at haven't been mentioned. I don't think we've been linked with any LWBs yet either, but we know we'll need to bring someone in as we can't go a whole season with only Edwards backed up by u21s.Crispywood said:

NJ should understand if we go too defensive we'll make it harder for ourselves.3 -
