"Darren Ferguson's response to BBC Cambs Sport: "We've got some players that are in their last year and we've offered them contracts.
"It doesn't necessarily have to be a big drama. Otherwise we can lose them for nothing, like we are with Hector (Kyprianou). We don't really want to repeat that.
"All we can do is put our best foot forward. I know the offered contracts are very good, but if players say they don't want to sign then the club will see what they can get for them. And it's up to the club to accept a bid or not.
"One thing I won't do this season is stand in their way.""
"Huddersfield Town have put in a bid for Leyton Orient's Ethan Galbraith. Not sure if it is the £2.5m that has been mooted, but sounds like it's in that ballpark.
No indications at the moment whether EG is still one that #cafc are sweet on.
Don't think wages likely to be a problem, it's just how high he is up their wanted list."
"There is understood to have been interest recently in Davis Keillor-Dunn from Championship clubs Charlton Athletic and Middlesbrough – where he spent time as a junior player in their academy. But, as of earlier this week, there had been no bids as Barnsley are understood to be currently asking for a multi-million pound offer in a similar region to their highest ever sales such as £5million for the likes of Alfie Mawson and Marc Roberts."
"I’ve spoken to the person who I know at Brighton. Unfortunately not much to say in the case of Offiah. Still just saying they don’t rate him so will more than likely leave them. I’d seen someone mentioned earlier about a Brighton CB loan so I assumed that was about Cashin. He’s highly rated by their stats team but not by their manager. However, they wouldn’t really loan him out to us when he’s come Derby. More than likely to go to a Southampton or Leicester on loan or top end championship team. Sorry not much more info"
Three Serie A sides can rival Leeds and Charlton to Mjällby goalkeeper Törnqvist
23-year-old goalkeeper Noel Törnqvist of Swedish Allsvenskan side Mjällby AIF has impressed with his recent performances and is beginning to attract attention from a number of teams in England and three in Serie A, Football Italia understands.
Three Serie A sides interested in Törnqvist deal
Törnqvist, a 6’6 stopper from Scandinavia, has excelled in 2025, and has suitors in at least three different divisions: In Serie A, the Premier League and the EFL Championship.
Football Italia understands that Parma, Empoli and newly-promoted Cremonese are the three Serie A teams interested in potentially striking a deal with Mjällby during the summer transfer window.
Noel Törnqvist of Swedish Allsvenskan side Mjällby.
Newly-promoted Premier League side Leeds United are also among the interested parties, as are Charlton Athletic, who gained promotion to the Championship via the League One play-offs at the end of May.
The 23-year-old shot-stopper is currently valued in the region of €2m plus bonuses.
Törnqvist has kept four clean sheets from 13 top-flight appearances in Sweden so far this season, plus two from a further three outings in the Svenska Cupen, the Swedish cup.
"No, not that heard that one [Törnqvist to Charlton rumour]. Expected GK signing to be from UK. Not saying this link is wrong or right - but not a name that I'd heard until now."
Exclusive:Two notable absences from Sheffield Wednesday pre-season meet spark exits hint
Sheffield Wednesday players made a return to pre-season training on Thursday morning, with an initial testing stage to run up until the weekend.
The Owls off-season has been loaded with turbulence, with many players reporting for duty still unpaid their May wages, with uncertainty surrounding this Monday’s expected pay day for June payments. With improvements to their Middlewood Road training base as of yet unfinished, it’s understood that workarounds had to be put in place - with only some testing methods having taken place.
The make-up of Wednesday’s squad going forward is cause for further uncertainty, with restrictions on who the club can sign already in place due to their continued off-field struggles. In terms of outgoings, there remains no confirmation on the futures of Barry Bannan, Callum Paterson and Akin Famewo, who have been offered new deals per the club’s retained list. Amid the chaos, these deals remain unsigned.
The Star has previously reported the commitment of captain Bannan to the club and that his desire to stay on and finish his career at Hillsborough remains. The former Scotland international was pictured at Middlewood Road this morning.
It’s understood, however, that with days remaining on their current Wednesday deals neither Callum Paterson or Akin Famewo were present at the training ground. Both players are understood to be the subject of interest from elsewhere and with little clarity on the future of the League One promotion-winning pair, it would further hint at a possible double-exit from the continued turbulence of life at S6.
The Star reported over a month ago that discussions with both Paterson and Famewo required further negotiation and amid continued disturbance it is not believed these have taken a positive step forward. It is also not known whether the duo, who have 259 Owls appearances between them, are among the first team players still awaiting May wage payments.
As reported by The Star on Wednesday evening, Owls boss Danny Röhl was not present at the first day of pre-season as negotiations with the club around his exit from the club continue.
Where the building of the squad goes from here remains to be seen. Wednesday remain under the constraints of a registration embargo - which will be lifted in the event of all outstanding payments being satisfied - but will remain under a three-window ‘transfer ban’, which will broadly limit incoming transfer deals to free transfers and non-fee loan agreements."
AMADOU Mbengue has completed a permanent transfer to QPR from Reading following the expiry of his contract.
The centre-back will officially join the club on July 1st.
The 23-year-old comes to W12 after three seasons with the Royals, where he made 109 appearances in all competitions, including 26 Championship outings during 2022/23.
Prior to his time in Berkshire, Mbengue played his football with Metz in Ligue 1 – now he is ready for his next adventure in English football.
“I am happy to be here and ready to work,” said Mbengue, who had a host of Championship clubs chasing his signature.
“I was talking with Christian (Nourry, CEO) and the idea and the project he has for the club is very, very good. We are on the same page and that is why I chose QPR. They have a lot of objectives for the future.”
Mbengue, who has represented Senegal at U23 level, has a reputation for being a big character, and he said he takes his football seriously – but makes sure he has fun too.
“I enjoy the game and I enjoy life,” he said. “After a game when we win, I’m here to enjoy it with the fans. I think it's important to make them happy.
“I'm excited to meet the fans and to take my first steps in Loftus Road.”
CEO Christian Nourry said: “Amadou brings pace, power, defensive nous and an infectious personality to the first-team squad, as well as EFL experience.
“We are pleased that he has chosen QPR to take his next step.”

"[Mothersille] Played very, very well against #cafc last season. Haven't heard if this rumour is right.
Obviously 'weighing up a move' isn't quite the same as making a move for the player."

Had been a suggestion recently that QPR are prepared to pay £1m for the 21-year-old, who is due to be out of contract next summer."

The defender has been offered a new deal at Wednesday and has plenty of interest from around the #EFL with his contract set to expire👀
