The way Verstappen, Redbull and tbf other drives treat him, just give him the excuses he needs to act the man-child he is. We've all seen other drivers call there peers out for horrendous driving, understandably a lot for the time, Stroll for example. I find it rather annoying and bizarre that the likes of Norris avoid doing so with Max.0

TelMc32 said:Agree with pretty much everything said about Verstappen above, but haven’t seen if anyone here or on TV made any reference to what happened just before his ramming of Russell.
When he snapped the back end of the car out of that corner before he was on the team radio screaming he’d been “****** rammed” by LeClerc…who was nowhere near him. I didn’t hear Red Bull try to correct him and point out it was his own car that pinged and no one touched him. Just felt that this brought his red mist crashing down and led to the Russell incident.
Which to be fair was the correct decision... Not because it was Max, but no one really suffered from it.0 -
@ForeverAddickted have you seen Freddie Slaters GB3 race from yesterday at Spa??? What a talent he is.2

He's ridiculous in GB3, can understand why he's not done that Championship on a F/T basis as he's pretty much destroying the field, even when he's started from the back this weekend0 -

Got to be F2 for him next year , don't really see the point in him doing F3 not as if budget is a problem and he can play the F1 teams off against each other.1 -

Don't forget that Slater is only 16, and wont be 17 until next August, so if he does F2 and flies through that level, he'll have to wait a year before entering F1, so might be a factor in him doing F3 next season.0 -

Seb Wheldon is Dan’s son - who of course died in Las Vegas 14 years ago. Whilst Freddie Slater raced with my son, I raced against Dan in karting for 5 years or so as a kid. Was in touch with him and his wife Suzy right up until he died.
Suz was desperate for Seb not to go racing but from what I understand the kid is totally driven to do it for his Dad. I can’t imagine what it must be like for her to watch her boy competing in the sport that took her husband from her7 -

He's in bloody P4 in the Championship, despite missing the last round and starting from the back of the Grid in Saturdays races - The other Drivers are going to be relieved to see the back of him for the next two rounds, but if they squabble for victories, its going to play into Slater's hands when he returns for Brands Hatch and Monza1 -
Arvid Lindblad has been given an exemption to race in F1 before he turns 18 in August.
If he's not involved in Free Practice at Silverstone, I'd be very surprised.

Could be thrust in before then into the junior team, and they push Hadjar up if Max has to serve a race ban.1
-
Stroll will be back for the Canadian GP, I hope that Drugovich didn't postpone his Le Mans ride.0

We've got Mercedes coming into Imperial tomorrow. Bringing some staff, including some engineers and they are planning on starting up one of the F1 cars that they are bringing in.
Will be a damn site more interesting than a usual day in the office thats for sure!3 -
Hopefully it's one of the V8s - that would blow everyone's ear drums out LOL!

That just reminds me of Aston Martin at Le Mans in 1989. We were at the restaurant about 2/3 of the way down the Mulsanne about 1 in the morning. Cars racing past, it was before the chicanes, and the only car you could really recognize was the AMR1, because it really did roar. The others weren’t quiet, but it just had a completely different tone.1

I remember when I went to the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in (I think) 2007. We were on holiday in northern Italy and realized it was on while we were there so bought general admission tickets on a whim. I had never been to a grand prix before. As we walked through the park to get into the circuit, there were a load of blokes trying to sell us ear plugs at inflated prices. I said to my wife "What on earth would we need those for?" "For the noisy cars?" she replied. "Pfft!" I said, "They can't be that bad".
Once inside we found a spot at the end of the Curva del Serraglio, on the opposite side of the track to the start/finish line. Apart from some Tifosi shouting derogatory remarks about Alonso through a loud hailer at anyone wearing Renault merch, it was pretty quiet. Then we heard the engines start up on the grid ready for the parade lap. It was bloody loud even from where we were. "I think we are about to find out why they were selling ear plugs" said my wife. By the time the cars reached the end of the straight where we were stood, at race speed, it was deafening. Visceral and exhilarating, but we spent most of the afternoon with our fingers in our ears trying to avoid permanent hearing damage. The sport has to move with the times, but the loss of the larger naturally aspirated engines has definitely taken something away from the spectacle.3 -
Live about ten mins away from Brands and last week they had the 70's F1 cars, still quite loud here even though it wasn't a full grid and the cars don't use full revs. Back in the day there were grids approaching 30 cars at the GP, and when I used to go it would take hours until the buzzing in the ears would drop sufficiently for you to hear properly. I don't think it was the noise as such but the high frequency pitch that did it.3

What a lap from Russell for pole, fantastic.3
-
Haha!George Russell throwing some lovely shade at Verstappen in the interview there.
😂1 -
Lando completely crumbled in Q3 pressure got to him
What a lap by Russell2 -
Mercedes would be beyond stupid to ditch Russell in favour of the drama that Verstappen would bring to the team - It would be unfair to George as well, given he's only ever had one race for Mercedes where he was truly in a decent car, and almost won on that occasion as well.
He's always incredibly consistent and if he was in Lando's shoes I suspect he'd be running away with the Championship if he was in that Mclaren.4 -

I don't like how Toto dealt with the Barcelona fallout , compared to 2021 Toto who would have been straight down to Red Bull to confront Horner.
Almost as if he's scared to actually criticise Verstappen because he wants him so bad. I just don't get the point of why you'd want the hassle and his stupid entourage when you've got George already there. Would be one of the stupidest mistakes in recent years to let George walk.1 -
Only reason I can think of, for Mercedes to try and get Max, is because they know their car might not be good enough next season onwards, and he might drag the last bit of performance out of it.
That is the one advantage could think of hiring him.0
