When the time is right, i have no doubt that Jones will manage Cardiff. I also have no doubt that in his mind mind Jones will know that time is not now.
So if now is his chance to seize the day, to live his dream, to answer his calling, to be the one to turn them around, then the lure of his hometown club might prove too tempting to resist.
I hope he stays, but he won't assume he'll get another chance to manage Cardiff, which is why I won't be that surprised if he goes, but he'd be mad to.
If it happens, it would give someone else a chance to take us forward, although having to find new manager would disrupt our pre season and recruitment plans. We'll know one way or another soon.1 -

Other Nathan Jones Quotes:
This is verbatim when at Southampton.
"I could have stayed in a mining community, been a PE teacher and had a nice life, married a Welsh girl. beautiful. I don't. I want to test myself on every level and that's nothing against Welsh women. I want to test myself."
On his success at Luton.
"Statistically they weren't any better than me in Europe for aggression, clean sheets, defending your box, balls into the box, xG."
This about his time at Brighton when he was Assistant head coach to Sami Hyypia.
"My management philosophy ?
Watch and listen to everything that Sami Hyypia said and did and then do the opposite"
Even if Nathan was Tan, Choo and Dalman's 1st choice,
the timing seems wrong to go to Cardiff when his wife and Children are settled in Hampshire and Cardiff are League 1 and just last week he said about his ambitions for CAFC.

Very split from the fans in terms of wanting him to take over.
I dont think he will leave but if he does then he does, nothing we can do here. Chapple is in along with Hylton in as a coach points towards him staying and it has been quite obvious that the Cardiff job will be available end of the year so why make the above appointments who have history with NJ.6 -

Let's say for example, we don't have a great season and Jones is let go towards the end of next season. Cardiff are in and around the promotion places, but ultimately end up 7-8th and Tan sacks the manager. Jones would be out of work next summer and i'd argue would still be their fans number 1 choice to take the job.
Including interims they've had 9 managers in 4 years, and Jones is only 52 so it's highly likely the Cardiff vacancy is going to come up several times before he retires.5 - Sponsored links:

If it happens, and I don't think it will, but IF he goes, I will fly back to the uk to drive the man there myself, all the while reminding him that he wanted our complete and utter devotion to him and the Journey he wanted to take us on, which we bought into. Surely, he'd have learnt from previous mistakes of leaving his 'project' at Luton with Stoke and Southampton?9

Don’t shoot the messenger hearing that jones could only be moving if he doesn’t get what was promised. According to my source the board are only offering a league one budget currently and of course if there is no ambition from the club I personally don’t blame him for walking. Oxford United had the lowest budget last year and spent 5 million in all my years of supporting Charlton I can’t remember spending near that. Serious questions ly with the board if you ask me wouldn’t judge any stories coming out when something deeper could be pushing the deal closer.9

Well all know one way or another in the next couple of days.1

The present reality regarding what is only speculation does not call for criticism of Nathan Jones.
He got us promoted.
I would like him to stay and continue with his build.
However we are numb to managerial change at Charlton so if he departs it will simply feel like ‘another one’, the story is not about if he goes, but it is about if he goes who replaces him.
I could understand it if he went, wasn’t it Russel Slade who advised ‘do well and jump ship’?
The story if Nathan Jones goes is how much money we get in compensation and who will be next, condemnation will be as pointless as the endless condemnation of Lyle Taylor.0 -

Regardless of whether we believe our owners will invest enough this season, we are a well run club these days, and for a manager that talks about wanting a medium to long term project, that's the ideal set up.0 -
I know football is a fickle but would there not have been assurances demanded of Jones from the board of his intentions to stay when they hired Chapple and Hylton - two of Jones' closest allies. Likewise would Chapple have joined if he knew it was likely Jones would go?22
-
What constitutes a L1 budget nowadays though, B'ham spent 35 million in League 1 which some Premier League teams don't spend3

He has every right to listen to offers and consider what is best for himself.
Yes, he has said that he loves it at Charlton (and I believe that), but how many people pledge their devotion to a spouse (before God and everyone they know) and some time later go off with someone else they feel is a bit better, and makes their heart flutter!
Jones stock is at its highest for a few years, and he has to decide whether to stick or twist. That is a rare thing in a football manager's career. Just think, how many managers Charlton have got through, since a manager was poached by another club?
On a side note, consider how many keyboard hours were spent bemoaning a striker leaving us last summer, however we signed Godden and the rest is history. Whose to say that if Jones goes, we won't get a new person that takes us even higher. We all might be anxious about the unknown, but change doesn't always equate to something worse.
I hope he stays, but if he doesn't, I will wish him well, for what he had given us this season, until we are in direct competition!9 - Sponsored links:

He'd be smart to wait until Tan has eventually gone and go there when they have a proper owner in place.4

Starting to look like this rumour has some legs but I still can't see it.
It makes no sense for Jones to step back down to league 1 after all the work he's done here3 -
For info, Cardiff have had 8 ( eight ) managers in four years.
I'm sure it won't be too long for it to come up again after things have turned sour between us and Jones.0 -

At least this will tell us whether Jonesy really is confident about his project at Charlton, or whether it's all been a load bs1
