The likes of a Gallagher/Cullen we're never going to be able to sign, but would massively improve this squad if you're able to scout and select the right youngster from a top side.
This is a problem with loans. For a talented young player, the grass is all too often greener up the road.
Like Jones, I dislike (to put it mildly) loaning players.
However, depending on our finances and who's available, one or two might be unavoidable.
Worked with the likes of Bielik, JRS, Jay Dasilva.
The point is being very selective and not just trying to use loans as a cheap 'get bodies in' type thing as we have in some recent years, where we've had some real dross.
Given Nathan Jones doesn't like loans much I'd trust us to do that at the moment.0 -

Wrexham trying to sign Ben Davies. Mental. 100k a week at Spurs, surely they can't match his wages.
So Wrexham don't have to match those wages.
I think Wrexham are definitely being linked with everyone and anyone out of contract, a combination of clickbait and agents, but I do think they'll be offering high wages for ex-PL players. Look how much they tried to spin Ben Foster as "like soccer Tom Brady" etc, they will try to get ex-Premier League players as it sells to sponsors and on social media more than (for example) signing better L1 players who might be ready for a step up. Plus there's no transfer fees on players out of contract so no 'Wrexham tax' on the fees (though there will be on the wages!).

Ideally with an option to buy without being all football manager.
8 goals and 10 assists in his first ever season in mens professional football at 20 years old.
Gives us a different dynamic being left footed, can score a goal and can definitely pick a pass.If you are a top club with a young player I’m just not sure we are that attractive as an option given the style we are likely to play, Jones vocally saying he’d rather develop our own players than other teams and the only example of a young loan this season not getting enough minutes to develop.
I think we will get loans in, but they are more likely to be loans from players unwanted at prem/champ teams, but the loan makes it affordable for us, rather than being young prospects that clubs want developing0 -

I can't see the likes of Ings or Davies agreeing to losing out on 80k a week when there are big clubs who will probably pay them.0 -
Woodwork said:Sage said:One player I’d like for us to sign this summer is Odeluga Offiah.
Was excellent for Blackpool this season, on loan from Brighton so the link is there for Jones too. He’s a London boy and played for Bromley academy before joining Brighton.
Fully expect Watson to be released and the profile of Offiah is the type I anticipate we are after. Strong, athletic, aggressive, good on the ball. He might not be a flying wing back, he’s more a Ramsay type, but he’d be a fantastic signing for anyone in the Championship. I think the Premier League is slightly one step too far right now but he’ll get there.
Online says he’s out of contract but I do not think that’s correct.1 -

May already have been mentioned (apologies if so) but Rak-Sakyi available...no idea of cost but would be a great addition (IMO). https://www.newsshopper.co.uk/sport/25182184.exclusive-crystal-palace-open-jesurun-rak-sakyi-sale/3

If a player like Ben Davies is on 100k a week then the world surely has gone mad.7 - Sponsored links:

I would love to see JRS back in a Charlton shirt but I doubt we could afford to buy him.5

1) Brighton re-sign him or 2) He goes to a 'bigger' Champ team than us (his prowess must be common knowledge to every scout in the country) or even a lower Prem team. Money and league position don't talk, they shout
After all that , I would LOVE him to sign for us, a powerful and I suspect versatile right sided player0 -
Might get shot for this but: a return for Tom Lockyer?
( Heart issues cleared to play) But injuries to ankle this last season.
Why is it a good idea you may ask, released by Luton. Was key on their promotion push. But he now cannot demand mega wages, he knows the club and manager, proven to be sensitive to level of football ( hence his release clause previously).
He has a point to prove and could take terms which suit both parties. This would comfort any scares if any CB gets injured.0 -

I am excited by this as Parky said we were going after the same players.
So I am going to start a Ben Davies to Charlton rumour.14 -

What Wrexham might do though is offer a decent signing on fee and bonus to Davies to offset some of the drop in salary. 30k a week salary, 500k signing on fee and 500k bonus if they finish above a certain position in the table is equivalent to almost 50k a week.1 -

Has Corey Blackett - Taylor been mentioned ? .. could do a good job or us in attack .. doubt is a recent recovery from a hamstring injury, always a problem for speedy wingers14

One potential option for a goalie with Championship experience could be James Beadle. Unlikely to get a game at Brighton, has some experience at Sheff Weds last season and, obviously, a Charlton fan too.34
-
We really need a wishlist thread as we’re seeing players suggested ranging from a moneybags budget Davies & Ings etc to a poundland budget CBT, Lockyer etc.
Nobody knows what the budget will be and we probably won’t get a good idea until ITK’s confirm transfer targets or we see deals actually happen.4 -
CBT could barely get in a Derby team that almost got relegated.
He looked decent for us but he’s never Championship standard10 -

The insurance agents will be smacking their lips waiting for that call...1 -

I can see PL clubs sending us someone to toughen them up a bit, as other clubs will have seen our players were really fit this season, and hard working . The key is to get them in early, so that they have a preseason with us, instead of arriving on deadline day as a last resort.0 -
