I know I’ve been a lone voice on here for ages about this but I think both Manion and AMB are Championshop keepers and I actually think of the two AMB is the slightly better
If he leaves and he gets to play regularly which is always difficult with goalies (even Bob bolder only played when he eventually came to us) - think Darren Randolph who never got a sniff at Charlton or even neil Eldridge ( ?) they played loads of Championships and Premiership games
Quite a few people here didn’t rate Nick pope but look how brilliant he turned out to be
They both have championship qualities as in Mannion has elite commanding his area and AMB is a brilliant shot stopper but doubt they both have the overall game to make the step up.
I have to agree, if they did some sort of weird fusion thing you'd end with Ashliam Mannion-Brewer who'd be pretty much the ideal keeper. But as it stands neither to me seems definitely set to make the step up - Mannion would be the more likely to make it if I had to choose one or the other though.

Tottenham are expected to release Fraser Forster.

    Would he be worth approaching?

When he was on loan at Norwich as a youngster they won one nil at The Valley.  That day he was immense and I thought he would end up a top Prem keeper

Danny Ings worth a year? Lives locally, bags of experience and a finisher. Maybe too similar in type to Godden.

He was a decent keeper in his time but 37 years old, barely played since COVID and minted. Would he have the desire/passion that Jones demands... I doubt it.

I think that was before he was effectively forced to choose between Mannion and AMB and didn’t initially fancy either. Since then Mannion has shown he can improve and I’m sure has benefited from Henderson coaching him and the responsibility of being number one. For me we do need to bring in another keeper but the need for a new definitive number one isn’t now as crucial.

I think this season in particular we need to dip into the loan market.

The likes of a Gallagher/Cullen we're never going to be able to sign, but would massively improve this squad if you're able to scout and select the right youngster from a top side.

What all this talk of keepers we have  a number one who will be for a number of years Mannion ..let’s spend our money on areas that really need improving like creativity

Absolutely essential we get an experienced Championship goalkeeper. We have no idea if Mannion is up to Championship football. If he’s our number 1 and isn’t up to it, it will probably be the difference between staying up and going down. I can’t see us scoring a bag load of goals next year so any goalkeeping mistakes will turn wins into draws and draws into losses.

    Ings & Forster 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

Probably been on wages of £50k/£60k or more per week.

Can I have what some of you are smoking

We also need more goals from midfield and the wide areas. Jones and Gillesphey scored and assisted more than Campbell and Small in fewer games. Not sure we can rely on our defenders to get 12-15 goals again next season?

Gallagher was lured away when he had become a major part of our team.
This is a problem with loans. For a talented young player, the grass is all too often greener up the road.
Like Jones, I dislike (to put it mildly) loaning players.
However, depending on our finances and who's available, one or two might be unavoidable.

We’re definitely going to have to look at loans any decent player for this level is going to cost 1M minimum. Majority of the fanbase reckon we need minimum 5 new starters and unfortunately we aren’t going to beat other championship clubs for the majority of free agents or do I see us having 5M just to pay on transfer fees before other expenses as well if you look at 2 of the promoted sides in Derby and Portsmouth both managed to get loans in like Potts, Clarke etc who have arguably been their best players this season

And the rest! Ings was West Ham’s highest paid player - £125,000 a week

Wasn’t that more to do with Malteser Head and his shenanigans than Conor being “lured away”?  I seem to remember that CG wasn’t best pleased when he was recalled and then sent to Swansea.

If we are going down the loan route, I'd like to see Jamie Donley here.

Ideally with an option to buy without being all football manager.

8 goals and 10 assists in his first ever season in mens professional football at 20 years old.

Gives us a different dynamic being left footed, can score a goal and can definitely pick a pass.

Also think we were in such a mess/short on players etc we overplayed him - possibly when he was injured?

It was really handy to have a promotion team from L1, not reliant on loans so it isn't broken up next season.

Next season in the Championship is very different,  we just need to stay up, and the loan market has to be sensibly used.

Agreed despite being a traditional creative midfielder in that sense if you look at his numbers from the physical side of his game he’s very good at doing the dirty work as well, will be very difficult to find a creative midfielder who can offer what Jones wants. He’ 6’0 as well which is very rare for a number 10 as well

One player I’d like for us to sign this summer is Odeluga Offiah.

Was excellent for Blackpool this season, on loan from Brighton so the link is there for Jones too. He’s a London boy and played for Bromley academy before joining Brighton.

Fully expect Watson to be released and the profile of Offiah is the type I anticipate we are after. Strong, athletic, aggressive, good on the ball. He might not be a flying wing back, he’s more a Ramsay type, but he’d be a fantastic signing for anyone in the Championship. I think the Premier League is slightly one step too far right now but he’ll get there.

Online says he’s out of contract but I do not think that’s correct.

Great Balls or Chariots as a nickname.

The FM database says he’s out of contract this summer (the latest view I can see, not FM25), so I could see him being a target.

If in contract, looking at £2m+. If out of contract, looking at matching offers of £10-15k a week & big signing on fees.

I agree with what your stating and with Jones' stance on Loans generally but we are likely to be at the bottom end of the table next season so having 3 - 4 loans in to increase the chances of not getting relegated in the first season is a valid way to go

    Portierephobia?

Is net minder or last line of defense acceptable?

Are "Net Guardian", "Last line of Defence", "Shot Stopper" "Netminder", any less triggering?

Wrexham trying to sign Ben Davies. Mental. 100k a week at Spurs, surely they can't match his wages.

I remember Chris Powell saying he was too loyal to some players on promotion from League One. You’ve got to be brutal and keep developing the squad.
I get the feeling Jones won’t have a problem being brutal (SCP has always been nice).
Didn't Jones say something about difficult decisions to be made in a post match interview on Sunday, or have I made that up
