_MrDick said:I’ve no inside information on who we might be signing this summer. But, on the way out of Wembley, I was eavesdropping on a conversation between my mate and a coach in the academy (who he knows) and the word on the street is we won’t be splashing too much cash in the summer window - we will be spending some. But interestingly, we have come under pressure, presumably from parents, to sell some of our Crown Jewels in the younger age groups. He said 3 U13 players had gone to Newcastle, Arsenal and Everton for combined fees of c£1.3m. Just passing on what I heard ..1

Im just really surprised about 13yr olds moving between clubs for money. But I guess that shouldn't really surprise me!0 -

Def the type of player we should be going for though
It’s going to be bloody tough without 6/7 real quality additions imo
as well as the team did this season, this is a massive step up. Godden has been class and is absolutely worth keeping, but Coventry, a competitive team in the championship felt it was the right time to move him on. Similar Docherty. I like both of them, but thinking 6 years on from when we were last in the championship, it seems like it’s even harder. You can’t argue with NJ’s approach and how it’s got us out this league and the focus on clean sheets, but I’m thinking, replicating that type of approach with the current players against some of the teams we’re gonna be up against 🤯 - going to be very tough0 -

I still think we could do a lot, lot, worse.
Comfortable on the ball, could play in a back 5, strong, quick, and most importantly is a leader.
One off season doesn't define a player, and he only turns 30 in June. Very experienced player to have.
I'd personally be happy to see him here.2 -

I expect cat 1 academy and the club as well would have accomodation specific for these types of scenarios. There are safe guarding concerns with someone that young away from their family. I'd be surprised if this was not the case.2 -

Paudie O'Connor another one, very similar stats to Lloydy and a beast in a back 3/5.
Out of contract.
Another out of contract player is Nathan Baxter. Wages wouldn't be too high, would be good competition for Mannion and would have a chance of claiming the no.1.7 - Sponsored links:

May as well try to sign a plodding Stevenage or Rotherham defender instead...2 -

What it definitely is though is an area we can trust NJ to get right. There’s a balance to be found between having enough experience, not using up budget on cover that we could do with higher up the pitch and having a pathway for our young defenders and WBs.2 -

We were fighting off Everton for one of our top academy boys. He’s a smart lad from a very successful family who are not likely to be swayed by shiny things and more money. He’s also at a very good school down here and it’s unlikely that would be matched oop north.
im hopeful we can keep hold of him and make it known We aren’t easy targets any more.34 -

Saw on X earlier that Villa had signed a 6yr old they identified in Africa which if true is absolutely mental9
