Eddie Youds was sitting a couple of rows in front of me. I think it was him who went to the front and handed Anderson the Jamaican flag.5

Can we thank Michael Appleton for one thing !
NO, No, No, why ?
For going around to Conor Coventry's house where his mum made Mickey Apples and Andy beam me up Scotty a cup of tea and somehow convinced Conor to come to CAFC 👏🏼
Yes, yes, just that but nothing else.4 -
Won't post them all here but the club are slowly tweeting out pictures of various players with the trophy which are lovely.
This video is a laugh too, Edwards is clearly the life and soul of the party and Ahadme has no idea what's going on

Final whistle ... we've won ... Red, Red Robin blasting out.
I've been banging this particular drum for a nunber of years but this should be part of our post-win celebrations as much as the tunnel jump.
Play the club song at FT when we win!!!
I like the idea of playing it as a post-match winning anthem, but I wouldn't want to lose it when the teams come out even if a lot of our fans don't pay respect to it then.
Valley Floyd Road over the tannoy (like it used to be) so that at least once per home match it gets sung at a proper speed instead of so fast it triggers a sonic boom ...
... then straight into the Back To The Valley video on the big screen ...
... as soon as it finishes Red, Red Robin starts up and the players emerge from the tunnel ... no five-minute gap between the end if the video and the players coming onto the pitch which is always a let-down for me.
If we win, play Red, Red Robin on the final whistle.
Players go round the ground as they do now, usual shenanigans in front of the Covered End, followed by tunnel jumps.
This Is Charlton, This Is The Valley.
Come on folks, make it happen.
(I doubt we can count on a home win every week but the pre-match bit we can control, even if we're being shown on the idiot lantern!)
And it has been asked on here before what songs people would like to have straight after the game.....and it varies from RRR, something more upbeat and None !
If the game kicks off at 3pm the referee should have the players ready to come out at, say 2:55pm (or whatever time is needed to get the usual pre-match formalities out of the way) and work back timings from there.
If the referee can't get the players out onto the pitch at the correct time then what chance do we have for him controlling the actual game?
One of the great things about the AFL (Aussie Rules) is the time-keeping: matches start at the specified time and if there's any additional pre-match ceremony then players get brought out earlier than normal. Even the times that the two teams come onto the field is specified in advance: a set time for the visitors, a set time for the home team. The siren sounds to indicate a countdown to the start of the quarter so you know exactly how long to the start.
That means that some clubs can do their own build-up thing leading into the opening bounce of the ball, the Port Adelaide Football Club and "Never Tear Us Apart" being the best example. The siren sounds a minute before the start (as per the laws of the game), "Never Tear Us Apart" starts playing with the crowd joining in, the music stops so that the crowd sings the last few words on their own, then the siren sounds to signal the start of the match.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhqWGRlQpbQ

Braziliance said:Something of note, VFR was sang to almost perfection. It was slow, most people were finishing each sentence with passion, and it felt like everyone joined in. It nearly made me cry. I wish that's how it was before every game, there is something special about a chant done at a pace like that.
As for post match views, there's nothing on here that I could add after reading every post. I am just extremely happy, and buzzing to see how many people also had a special day.
I am in the process of editing now, and I really hope people decide to watch as I tried my best to capture the experience and the life of the game from where I was.
I have never seen so many Charlton fans in my life. From the moment I got to Ashford international, it was crawling with Charlton, and it felt like that the whole way to Wembley, a truly unforgettable experience and one me and my family won't forget. One of the best days of my life.
I did have a slight sadness when I looked around and saw so many Charlton fans during the game and thought about matches earlier in the season when we would have been lucky to have 10k in the stadium. This club has so much potential, it’s just been so badly mismanaged for years and years.4 -
Haven't posted on here yet. not really been able to sum up my thoughts of the day or the game.
felt like it was less enjoyable to watch and more stressful than 2019, perhaps that was because of the early own goal in 2019 gave us nothing to lose so we played with more freedom. Going a goal up in a game like that with a defence as good as ours was always gonna lead to a bit of a turgid second half but the absolute rock that is our back 3 (well actually the whole team) defended pretty comfortably overall (few nervy moments).
Amazing moment the goal from Gilly, I was expecting us to play it wide to small who could swing a cross in from the touchline but what do I know. Father in law said "they've set the wall up wrong" before he hit it. Goal really got the crowd going and stayed loud right till the end. Particularly loved the celebrations every time Manion claimed a cross near the end - like celebrating a goal! Great scenes after the final whistle. Couldn't be prouder of the boys! proper team.
Championship!!!!
Green man and then London Bridge after. Love seeing Charlton shirts and hearing Charlton songs all over London for a day even late at night!

One thing that struck me was that our superior fitness that has got us through so many games this season and we've got stronger as games go on and scored late goals etc. did seem slightly more shaky than usual. Maybe the effects of a long season and physical battles against Wycombe. Godden was feeling his hammy and clearly struggling for about 10 mins before he went off, Ramsay looked to be struggling too and wasnt sprinting after a spell down in their box. TC the same although seemed his might have been a tactical injury!8

Anyone know if Duchatelet, Meire, Driesen, Southall, Nimer, Farnell, Fraeye, Peeters, Adkins, Makienok, Thuram, Ceballos and Novak were there?6

snuck in because he was cheap, had branded himself as some sort of lower league Pep (🤮 that actually made it worse, I hated seeing that approach at our level with those players at the time). Appleton is just spent and should be in the national league or abroad
we got it right with Jones and we should all be very pleased we stuck with him when it looked like it was turning
fingers crossed he gets the resources to have a good crack at staying up next season8 - Sponsored links:

Exhausted. Play-offs aren’t a great way to go up, and it must be awful for the losing team, but it’s better than staying down.3

I intentionally loudly said that it’s the police who often cause trouble and so another police officer objected. I told him that amongst ourselves we can sort out any little disputes, we don’t need them, and we agreed to disagree.2 -
Just realised Paul Terry is their Assistant Head Coach, great we beat them now so that mug didn't win.4

I’m an INXS fan so after I’ve done the obligatory imo ’Down Under’ and ’Beds are Burning’, I’m going to choose this INXS song and show them that video.0 -
