Keillor- Dunn yes, but we should be looking at championship stalwarts or talented kids like Small. Hopefully he eill sign a new deal as we are up. He seems to enjoy it here.1
-
The annoying thing about the state of the market is the amount of money it takes to sign the best players from lower leagues. In years gone by, we’d have been able to pick off some of the best in League One after a promotion - nowadays you’re not going to get a Keillor-Dunn or Ethan Galbraith for less than £2m.7

covered_end_junior said:Players that caught the eye in league 1: (and are not completely unrealistic e.g Kone, Poku who will be way out of our budget)
Lewis Bate
Ethan Pye
Brad Hills
Joe Low
Caleb Taylor
Cameron Humphreys
Ethan Galbraith
Jamie Donley
Lewis Wing
Aaron Collins
Aaron Morley
Niall Ennis
George Wickens
Sean Roughan
Keillor-Dunn
Luca Connell
Wing just signed for another 3 years at Reading so isn't going anywhere.
Barnsley always sell on so Keiller-Dunn could well leave, would love him.1 -
Don’t know what will happen with Harvey Knibbs but I’d 100% have him3

Asiimwe seems highly competent back up to Small and perhaps Ramsay on todays showing. Only 20. Step up on Watson.
Mbick is going to be better than Leaburn and Enslin will make a mark
Perhaps all on bench, but cuts down on recruitment.11 -
I have said before that I think Jones is going to be very specific indeed in who and what he's looking for. Having Chapple back whose worked with him before will help there.
But I do think that we will see a lot of players who in theory/on paper would make for decent or even great signings go elsewhere and probably cause great agitation on this thread.
We're going to have to trust the process on this.12 -
I think Chapple will pull a few " unknowns" out of the hat from Europe but not in a Thomas Driesen way4

Wasn't a poster saying we had 4 lined up? @Henry Irving I think, but I may be wrong..?
Hopefully if so we can get some early business to show we are serious, always helps (easing fans nervousness and in further recruitment).5 -

Interesting quote from Phil Parkinson on Sky's commentary team towards Nathan after yesterday's win......... "I guess we will now be competing for the same players"...... just made me wonder if Phil is aware about someone specific that he knows we are in for as well .... with our result not doing him (Phil) any favours....... or just an assumption that we will be shopping at similar levels1

I have a suspicion that the signings we do make will be under everyone’s radar.10

What makes you think that ?
I know Nathan really rates the kid and said some hyperbole about him just like he did about TC but We know that Miles can be very good as he proved with his two goals against Wycombe in the home League match so I'm puzzled why you think he's going to be better than Leaburn unless you think he's too injury prone to reach his potential?

Addickinedi said:Still don't see anyone better than Caleb Taylor. Plays across a back 3 and a great season on loan at Wycombe.
Can't see him getting in the West Brom side next season so may loan him out but could accept a fee and still young and improving.

Haven’t we signed anyone yet? Come on lads…3

I'd be happy with these, btw Low is a free agent considering an offer from WW atm1 -
Lewis Bate seems to come up every year , local lad isn't he? Can't see him leaving Stockport already and not sure if he can play in the same midfield as Coventry.0

Players who are affordable and won't completely decimate the wage structure, ready to step up and can help us bounce back if we go down. If you get these types on bigger contracts you can go again, or at least sell them for big fees and fund a league 1 squad.
It's a pipe dream to get proven quality championship signings, as we don't have the pull and cash like a lot of these championship regulars, so we need to identify players who can make the step, like Lloydy and Ramsay.
All our best players this season have been hidden gems and players who have good academy history. The players with a bit more rep have flattered to deceive imo, like Docherty and Berry. Sorry for any fans of those two.3 - Sponsored links:

Anyone know when Leaburn is back training? Would be nice if he could get a full pre season to get fit as I still think he has all the ability to do a job in the Championship6

Problem in this day and age transfer fees are so expensive if u look at recent top L1 player departures Smith 2M, Aasgard 3M Alli 1.5M etc I seriously doubt we’re going to have the money to get a lot of the top L1 players unless they’re contracts are expiring. Something we should definitely look to do in the future if we had more stability but priority is staying up then build with these types of players. With our budget we’re probably not gonna be able to afford 8 big big signings. Personally think we should be looking into the loan market last time in the championship it worked out really well Field Gallagher Cullen Leko (first time) definitely options out there1

Think he will be even better in this league. Really hope he can stay fit for next year. Plenty of learning but what an opportunity

Parky said that Charlton and Wrexham are going to be competing for the same players - the pull of Wrexham is going to be huge for players, they will also be paying the highest wages - the amount of revenue they generate is huge - they will not need to worry about FFP3

Page 25 of this thread and we are still in May.
Thread has the potential to reach about 300 pages of which 99% will be total guess work and speculation.
Not sure I have the energy to stick with it.
Probably dip in and out once a week.3 -
