I've just watched some longer highlights. I gave Gilbert a bit of grief for not bringing his man down ahead of Orient hitting the bar and Jones and some others gave him a bit more than that straight after it as well. My memory was Gilbert came straight off but he had a few more minutes after that and in that time he slid in strongly on an Orient player just as he was about to shoot on goal and then stood strong and blocked the resulting free kick. I like a player who learns from his mistakes and doesn't make them twice and for all he maybe doesn't have the bastard instincts of a standard Nathan Jones player he's clearly willing to do the nasty stuff when directed. I'm not that warm on the idea of signing him but regardless I reckon Jones could mold him into the player he wants with time
He only had longer because it took time to get Anderson & Watson briefed and then the ball to go out of play. NJ called Anderson over as soon as the ball went out of play from the shot

I wouldn't be over-joyed at signing him, he's done us well with the assists and sure he's a nice lad, but physically, both stamina and strength-wise, he's far off.

50k for Wimbledon v Walsall is very good, how many did Wimbledon take?

Also we'd have broken the league one attendance record by a fair way if we were allowed to sell those block that Orient couldn't.

Well worth watching this neutral fan's vlog. The atmosphere from 10.30 is insane

Spam refreshing YouTube for Charlton related content when I first saw this I said to myself no wonder their end was so quiet if it was full of neutral bloggers, vloggers and content creators.
Then I got to 11mins in. The rendition of Allez Allez Allez on the pitch post Doncaster semi final was nuts. Post Wycombe on the pitch bonkers. But that 45seconds gives me repeat goosebumps over and over, it didn’t sound that loud from way up in block 547 but wow!

There were a lot of unhappy fans at the ticket office after kick-off. I bought eight tickets, seven of us went in, and then the scanner told me that my ticket had already been scanned. I tried every ticket I bought, still couldn't get in. Had to run to the ticket office where there was a big queue with everyone having the same problem. People were being told that if their tickets were already scanned, there was nothing that could be done. Saw a lot of families going home devastated. Somehow, I got lucky, and the guy printed me a new ticket. (So obviously they hadn't all been scanned). I missed the first 30 minutes, but was pretty sure I wasn't going to get in at all!
This is the sort of administrative shit in modern day society that drives me nuts. Why can't anyone just help and use their initiative any more? How can you just shrug and tell people with tickets that you understand, it's tough luck, go home?

Another example is that I was just denied boarding to get back home. I had used my British passport to avoid having to get an ETA. They would have forced me to stay in the UK because the validity is 'only' until the end of July. Thankfully I had my new French passport which I had brought to avoid problems with the border control in France.

Everything today with all this new technology is more complicated. Is it the technology's fault or the workers who obey it even when it's clearly senseless?
  • 1-0, job done, thank you very much.

We can all have a breather!

Echo's my thoughts. We were also up in the Gods (534) and shame we weren't in the throng down below.

Gilbert also just knows how to calm a game down too and keep the ball. I thought he was pretty composed in those later stages yesterday.

I was happy for Gilbert that he started the game, personally think he's been unlucky to not start more. He also came here to play, and must be disappointed in his appearances - but no doubt delighted to start a play-off final. I really like him as a player, but agree that he doesn't exactly suit NJ's style.

I think we needed Anderson's press in place of Gilberts nous and the same can be said for Watson, both substitutions helped to stop Orient's movement and passing through us, full credit to Nathan Jones for those decisions.

I wonder if he suits the style Jones would like this time to evolve to. He has alluded to our style developing.

Gilbert seems willing to at least try and do the unglamorous stuff. I thought the issue yesterday was he ran out of gas at about 60 minutes leading to him twice not getting there quite in time make tackles - once leading to them having and shot and the second giving up a free kick in a dangerous area.

I think there’s a willingness to do what NJ wants from a player in that position but can he develop the stamina and strength to play the NJ way? Can he score enough goals from that position as well, because we desperately need to add goals from midfield next season.

To be fair though, unless we can some find and undiscovered next Yaya Toure, we’re going to have compromise in some way on our No. 10 because we will not be able to afford someone who is a physical/stamina monster, who is also technically creative and scores goals.

Hi guys, first of all congrats to getting promoted the championship, i am a dunfermline fan so i have been keeping tabs on josh edwards, was just wondering how hes done this season and what are your thoughts on him :)
Got anymore for us? - Love Josh, he's one of my favourite players
Yep - I probably wouldn't pick him out as my one, absolute favourite player, but he's definitely up there in the group of players that immediately spring to mind. The video stuff in pre-season with him and Alex Mitchell was a joy, and he looked promising early in the season until he got crocked by Sean Clare. I do think he's helped Macauley Gillesphey look more solid as the season has gone on too.

Seems to have been a fair number of ex players in attendance as supporters. Konchesky, Williams, Wagstaff, Phillips, Matt Fry.
    Any others?

Don't know if this has been covered but it is refreshing to see so many past players congratulate us on our promotion. Even some of those from more recent, much less popular squads.

Shows that the lack of class shown by Albie Morgan, Charlie Kirk and Sean Clare on recent posts was nothing more than that, a lack of class on their part.
