There's a 40K stadium that Palace should move to 🤔
It's in Liverpool and it's available after today. They can share the ground with Everton Women.
If their genuine fans, they can either drive and chance still having tyres as the locals work faster than Kwik Fit or get the early morning train or relocate and live in Skelmersdale.
Who knows what will happen in the future. Wigan beat City in the FA cup final not so long ago didn't they?
What I do keep reflecting on is the past.
The season they went up, I have a recollection they were generally lucky, and we lost both games but could so easily have been different. Home game we had a perfectly good goal ruled out before they scored and then hit the bar and one cleared off the line at the death.
Selhurst I remember us being all over them 1st half, went 1-0 up could have been 2, then did Hamer make a mistake and they got 2 goals about a minute or two apart?
Had we got 4 points from those games, we would have made play-offs at their expense.
I do often feel we are living an ongoing hell for what happened in 2005. For one, I'm sure it is part of the reason Murray lost his mind.

If Bromley were plonked into the PL and given a 40,000 stadium and had reasonable ticket prices, they’d sell-out most games with floating Arsenal, Chelsea etc fans, tourists, locals wanting to watch live PL football.
I am surprised Palace aren’t looking to build a new stadium tbh. Selhurst Park is hardly a historic & charismatic old ground. It’s holding them back. If they built a new 45,000 capacity stadium somewhere else, they’d fill it. Maybe only a lack of suitable sites stopping them?
I think they've decided to just expand Selhurst (to 34k) which will be a lot lot cheaper than building a new stadium.
That keeps hitting issues though. As it is an awful site to try and develop.
If I was them, I would look at building a 45-50k stadium near M25.
You’d think they’d look at sites beyond the M25, even in West Sussex where apparently seagulls and eagles have massive airborn fights.
Hopefully the European games will get in their way and harm their league position.
As we've seen in the last couple of years though, newly promoted sides struggle to even get to 30 points now, so Palace would require a serious meltdown to end up in any relegation trouble.

I have always maintained that the key to the pricks staying up, and never being in danger, is that they have appointed very good managers for their needs.
We have to hope that they start a season badly and get in a bad run.

As much as I despise this mob, I have never disliked the ground.
Getting to the place has never been a problem using public transport, but I realise getting there by motor is a massive pain in the backside.
God help me. Me mum can't believe I didn't watch the game and I should be happy for the rest of the family. Been summoned by the wife to go to the inlaws. Mother in law Palace season ticket holder. Won't go down well if I say with a bit of luck you'll be relegated next season.

We cause an upset, maybe even knock palace out....then we surprisingly reach the QF, bit of luck on our side. Next thing we know, we are in the cup final and we bloody win it in 2026
Shrug our shoulders and casually say yeh we won the FA cup, I know palace did last season but so what - we did it.
Then the likes of Susana Reid has a casual sexy angry devastated look on her face the following morning when presenting Good morning Britain!

The great thing about Charlton fans are they are so level headed as demonstrated on CL ?
They have 7 chips on one shoulder about Palace and 7 chips on the other shoulder about Millwall.
A week before a 50/50 match in getting Charlton Athletic back to their home land of the Championship and the 2nd tier, they are focused on Palace who left Charlton behind long ago. The League cup game when we lost 4-1 with our 1st team against their reserves was when we waved goodbye in their tatty old stadium. The last close game was the 2-1 lost when Glenn Murray scored twice after Ben Hamer's slip. I took that loss badly as 1-0 up at HT and JJ should have buried his header to go 2 up 🤦🏻♂️
Palace have a hybrid fan base with more ethnic groups than I see at Charlton. I'm not talking about ground hoppers or Football tourists. Many of their supporters live in Surrey but Thornton heath is very diverse as well as West Croydon where English isn't spoken very often.
Because of my Bermondsey roots I suffered more if we lost to Millwall because in many of those games we were higher in the table FFS.
Tribal rivalry is an ancient feral state and Charlton should probably focus on Millwall our nearest rival, IF and when we reached the promised land of the 2nd tier as opposed to a Premier team, with an FA cup win and European football next season.

Sam, it’s not just about tribalism. I have friends who decided to become palace fans two or three years ago. They’ve always been very patronising about Charlton, and pretend to not even know which league we’re in.
The one thing I’ve had to counter their jibes was the fact that we’d actually won a major trophy and they hadn’t. Of course It should be water off a duck’s back, I know, but it does rile me up. They have no understanding of the history of the game. To them it’s all about the Premier League. I guarantee if palace were relegated they’d soon lose interest.
When Charlton reached the Premier League, we had new fans as well. Staying with my parents one weekend in Canterbury I got the coach up from the Victoria Pub. One 'fan' was a recently retired weather man on Meridian; he knew all the current players TBF. Despite his age I knew he was a newbie as when I compared a player to John Humphrey's he didn't know who I was talking about ! Johnny H ! It would be like a fan not knowing about the late great Jimmy Seed. If Palace were ever relegated they would lose 'fans' like we did and the odious Chelsea did back in the day.
Not all 'fans' are "Charlton until I die"

I had a customer from the Bromley area who was an Arsenal fan, as were his sons. For years though he had a season ticket for him and his three sons at the Valley during your PL days. He just got them so he could watch cheap live PL football on a regular basis. I don’t think he’s been back since you got relegated.
And your lot have thousands upon thousands who associate themselves with the club purely because of the historic reputation and have either never been to a game in their lives or else only turn up for the big games or when there's a chance it will go off.

When we played there I was living in Sydenham so with games ending at 4.50 could get a train around 5.00 and be back home around 5.10 but it wasn't our ground.

i do appreciate football history and acknowledge millwall have been around longer than us but doesn't stop me pointing out they've never won anything so yesterday was probably a bigger blow to you than us - in my opinion, of course !!!
