Not the greatest birthday present I’ve ever had. As much as I’m pissed off with Palace winning, I’m more annoyed with the City performance. Given all their talent, they’re were pathetic and Haaland is a spineless prick
This is more than just a FA Cup win. I mean that’s bad enough in itself.
But now they have European football next season. all their star players will stay. Glasner will stay. There will be zero chance of them getting relegated any time soon. They’re are a fully fledged established premier league club and will be for a very long time.
Thousands of little kids from the Surrey/kent borders, who would have previously’picked’ someone like Chelsea, Man City or arsenal to support will opt for their local club. Any development to the ground and additional seating, they will fill it with ease. I think they already sell all their available season tickets.
Oh this is a dark day indeed. And to think, some of you on here wanted them to beat us when we played them earlier in the competition. 🙄
Not me, I was more than happy for Millwall to win that game. And on the other stuff you've said on this post - I make you right, a dark day.
Crystal Palace piss me off but I am struggling to find footballing reasons to deride them. They’ve been playing some amazing football this year and everything about the occasion and the opposition’s formidable catalogue of success could easily have got the better of them. But fck me that was some result. 4rseholes.

The only saving grace is that Pardew and Zaha winning back in 2016 would have been worse.
*sigh*, hope they have a Leicester effect after they won their cup and start going downhill.
Just makes me think when we were in the prem why we did so badly in the cups, so many losses to lower league clubs when we really could have given it a go and at least got to a semi final

Probably biggest regret of the prem years.
Just hoping we are finally building proper foundations again, whether we win next Sunday or not.
Best thing to do on a day like today is focus on our own club.
What is the point of being a football fan, or more specifically a Charlton fan, if you can just write this off with some passionless, glib, holier-than-thou, "mature" rationale like "oh it's nice that one of the top four didn't win", "oh Palace deserved it", "my mate is a Palace fan". Fuck off. Fuck right off. This is a dark day

How often have I heard it said 'concentrate on the league', 'we don't need the distraction ', 'the league's our bread and butter ' etc etc blah blah boring blah.
If there's one thing I can respect about Palarse, it's that they've given everything to win a competition they are already in rather than worrying about qualifying for another competition. Mind you, given that relegation is now like competing with three teams with weights on their feet in an open sea, it does make it easier than it should be.
At not one single point since Palace got into the Premier League have I ever envied them. Their place at the top level was IMO just that - a place. No real glory. But this today is something they’ll be able to hang their hat on for decades.
They’ve now got something they can say they’ve seen, whilst there’s a strong chance we’ll never see at Charlton (a major trophy and European football). Teams get promoted, relegated etc all the time in the ebb and flows of football, but major trophies stick forever. Especially for those clubs outside the ‘big 6’.
Had to pass through London Bridge about 2 hours after the game, and it was absolutely swarming with them. Horrible experience.
I don't understand how anyone can possibly be ok with it. We can only dream of it and I'm fairly certain it will never happen for us what they got today.
I was completely ok with Millwall getting promoted, would have been a one and done, broken all kinds of record defeats and points lows, relegated with 15 games to spare.
All that's done is strengthen Palaces claim to this side of London, and tbh, it's not even a contest anymore as a result for the foreseeable. They're so far ahead of us it's a sick joke. I can only hope they have a wobble like Leicester. But I've been hoping for that wobble for over a decade.
Immortalised themselves with that win, going to inspire a whole new generation of fans, and they'll get a European tour, something I genuinely dream about when I'm doing the dishes or any other mundane task. Pure stuff of fantasy.
Extremely jealous of the achievment, envious they'll see their team in Europe. Thought I was ok with it earlier, but still feel sick and my enthusiasm for our weekend has genuinely diminished at present.
We need this win now, anything less is sickening. We can't languish in this league any longer, too damaging long term.

Cos they aren't really our rivals (at least not until 2005). It's always been manufactured by us.
I agree that anyone who subscribes to the sentiments you quoted are bloody sad, but if we win next week, I honestly could not give a flying one.
I concede today is annoying - cos that's the one thing that we had over them and Millwall - what with both of them being light years above us in all aspects (owners/league/how the clubs are run), us gallingly being the pathetic third best for YEARS. And obviously their fanbase is utterly embarrassing. But fuck them, leave the twats to it.
And before anyone pipes up, I started going when we were at Selhurst.
My son goes to Dulwich College and they were playing Whitgift, a very croydon school (although they apparently have peacocks and flamingoes in the grounds to make it less Croydon but more Palace sounding).
fortunately I am away so didn't go. On the parents whatsapp group there was video of the parents cars being surrounded by Palace fans and the parents being encouraged to beep their horns as they were driving home which coincided with the final whistle. They all did.
Good job i wasn't there as i have a charlton window sticker in the canpervan window and an axe in the back that I could have been tempted to use.
What's worse is that now a number of the parents who are normally decent now turn out to be closet plastic stripey nigels (they do all live near Dulwich) and are giving it all the 'how long have we had to wait for this' on the whatsapp group despite , as far as i know never having even watched Palace on TV, never mind about at the ground.
Fucking awful day.
Oh and my son gave his wicket away cheaply and although his team were well on top of an achievable run rate they got bowled out 20 runs short of the target with 4 overs left.
Totally tried to ignore it all, playing an away cricket match near Chelmsford, then someone had their phone out and showed me the pen (delayed and we heard a cheer 30 seconds before the phone caught up and as I predicted from the cheer it was a miss) A fella looking in from oppo club said oh are you man city, I said no Charlton and I hate every club but palace a bit more than most . Fucking spurs cnuts oh makes a change , fuck off . a piece of me died today with them winning that , yes they are miles away and it takes forever to get to but they are second on the pure hate list of the scum and them , the only upside is that it isn’t the scum . The scum are reachable but being on a par/above palace is years away they’re on a different stratosphere . I feel sorry for those who see them as more a rival than the scum because give me a geeky happy clapper choir boy over a bully boy twunt any day of the week . palace are nearly 10 miles away and takes forever to get to scum are less than 5 miles another displaced club like them are just over 5 miles away playing at the tax payers stadium and next weeks mingefest play off opponents are 7.5 miles away
I would say that if there are concerns about Palace being “ahead of us” - their multiple seasons in the Prem have been doing more damage than this Cup win today is ever likely to.
The FA Cup is not what it once was - I couldn’t even remember who played in last year’s, let alone who won it, and haven’t watched a final in years.
Can’t seem to find the data now but I fear Palace may already have, if they are not about to, overtaken us with number of seasons in the top flight.
FFS their seasons in their current spell puts them in the top ten of most consecutive seasons in the top flight of the current crop!
Very annoying to say the least. Feels like i celebrated sleeping with a pig on Thursday after going for a long barron run only to find out the most annoying prick i know who is 'regularly satisfied' is now dating the supermodel i only ever see on TV.
Growing up in Bromley i know plenty of nigels, but i'm not pleased for them, they can go fuck themselves.

"Oh bollocks, palace won the fa cup last night"
We all need to stick together here, ffs.
no palace about round here

Jason Mohammed and Dion Dublin were a fitting double act for the highlights
The pair of 'em f*****g shyte.
Is this what we are aspiring to?

The only way out this darkness is
Back to back promotions followed by winning the Premier league or
Back to back promotions, qualify for champions league and win that the next season.
