Paul Mullin .. Ideal For Us ?

30 year old Mullin is  bit of a cult hero at Wrexham, but I suspect his days there as a vital squad member are over.
Wrexham now have four established strikers other than Mullin and will probably sign at least one more in the Summer.
Mullin is a well established lower league striker, just the type we need whatever division we are in next season.

I have no idea what he would cost or what his salary is or even if he would be at all interested in joining us.
Just a thought, I would really like him in our squad and we need to be ambitious with signings ready for next season.
All depends of course on what money will be available for squad strengthening

  • Well off the pace for League one.
  • I Thought he was older than that. Not for me - He's a league two player at best

No thanks, he’s peaked at Wrexham. Don’t want someone on a downward trajectory.
  • Wrexham decided this season he wasn't good enough for L1, and they've had a good chance to look at him.

    No thanks.

I think he still has another two year deal on his contract.
  • Still has time left on a high paying contract, I believe.

Having watched Welcome to Wrexham, he won't be moving down south, he went to Cambridge on a one year deal as he didn't want to be away from his family. His lad has autism.
  • On massive money as well
  • A scouser? No thanks.

Why not? If we don't win anything, he can nick for us.
  • For some odd reason my sister bought me his book for Christmas. Was going cheap apparently. Haven't read it and unlikely to ever read it.
  • Has 3 league goals in 1,152 minutes this season, slightly worse than the last time he played in League One in 2019/20 where he got 3 league goals in 905 minutes. He's also 30 and has been suffering with injuries this season. One of the least ambitious signings we could possibly make

That's been my favourite thing about the business we've done under Jones - bar Godden and Berry (and Lua Lua and Wickham admittedly!) we've largely gone for players at the younger end, rather than over 30s - Coventry, Ramsay, Edwards etc, all early 20s and should get better.

Even Doherty as a more experienced player is 28.

I'd rather we signed more players of that ilk that the likes of Mullins.

  • Past his best and not good enough for us if we have genuine ambition to progress higher through the leagues.
  • He could probably do a job at a bottom half league one club, but not for a side with aspirations of promotion. There's a reason Wrexham decided to cut him out.

Just for clarity, in his two seasons in league one (Tranmere and Wrexham) he has 6 goals in 46 games (18 starts, 2056 minutes). So a goal every 342 minutes. No thank you.
  • I can definitely see him being loaned out to Salford, Wigan or someone next season.
  • Paul Mullin?  Only as a direct replacement for Godden if we sell him to our immediate promotion rivals next season...  oh!
  • No chance
  • err.............

    No!
  • No, we can do a lot better than a player Wrexham no longer need.
  • If we do go up then we will need far better. If we don’t go up, we will need a good bit better imo. Would be a very mid table League 1 signing.
