Well thats ironic... Only the other day I did a random check on Wikipedia as was curious to see who the current Pope was, and to see how old they were, as find the whole replacement protocol really interesting!!

    RIP

Quite apart from personal beliefs about religion, you have to say that shows a certain flair - Easter Monday of all days.

Yes, saw him on the news yesterday and and thought that whilst he was still quite frail, he must be/felt he was on the mend to be there

Anyone know when they will confirm the first day of conclave? We have tickets for the Vatican 15 days from today - which is the earliest Conclave will start

edit - only parts of the Vatican will be open immediately before Conclave anyway. Its a return trip for me but Shrek will miss out on the Sistine Chapel

RIP.  Regardless of belief or standpoint on religion.  This is an 88 year old man gone to his rest.

We are going from 3 to 7 May, so the earliest Conclave will start is Tuesday 5 - the day we have tickets for the Vatican!

Have you seen the film Conclave?  Covers it all very well and a great twist at the end!

Not normally a Catholic church fan, but he seemed a decent, humble and caring man amongst... less so others.

    RIP.

On a flight to Florence this morning, hope they get on with life as normal and don't grind to a halt too much because of it

For all Catholics everywhere I'm glad he was able to celebrate with them yesterday. His body held out just long enough, which says a lot.

    RIP.

Hate to say it but i think everywhere shuts down in mourning until his funeral which is usually six day after he has died.

Quite, let’s not let the cultural and religious aspect of a nation get in the way of a Brits city break.
